The first time I saw someone play GTA was at my neighbor's house. I was around 5 or 6 at the time and I found it hilarious every time he ran over a homeless person or beat someone up, I thought it was the best thing ever. Couple of years later I bought the game and had immense amounts of fun with it. I don't see a problem with that. He also introduced me to Half Life that same year, but it was fucking scary and I couldn't memorize the controls to save my life. Now I love it.
I started playing GTA when 3 came out. Was about... 6? Yeah. My older brother got every gta and my mom didn't want me playing them but my brother, being the bro that he is, let me play them :v: Also, I feel video games like these are good for letting your anger or frustration out
i asked my parents if i would learn how to kill when i received goldeneye 64 for christmas.
That's how I'm going to raise my kids. I will keep an old computer with the esentials like system shock and shit and they will play them. They will be the best damn kids in the world. Oh and you know that's why people love free-roam games because they don't have to play them like how the devs want. Reminds me of the king of the hill episode where the two nerds make the "pro pain" game.
That kid is pretty cool.
Source: http://www.bitmob.com/articles/my-four-year-old-son-plays-grand-theft-auto This really made me think differently about youth playing video games, maybe its just the way he raised his kid. Friendlies, Friendlies everywhere.
Are you serious? The kids 4, wait till he gets to school, then a bunch of these thoughts will pop into his head. He probably doesn't even know that the Earth revolves. Give him time.
lol, I used to do that in Halo and imagine them being unconscious.
Same here, but add the catharsis of sucker-punching someone to dreamland, especially after a nice bout of childish angst.
to this day i feel remorse at times for killing a for people in games but only at the time of me doing it. Earlier today i was playing gta iv online with my friend, i started to mess around shooting people in the legs to watch them stumble about, one of the old ladies was freaking out and started screaming "i wish my husband was alive to help me" and i just stopped. Then my friend ran up with a shotgun and killed everyone. Then i just continued on after a bit of guilt.
Hey, I'm not alone I feel the same thing to, like when I killed a cop he said tell my wife I love her. I felt bad I shot him in the head with a shotgun
My little brother who is 4 plays Halo 3.
He's not the only one.
I was told that as long as I did not copy any of the shit I saw in rated M games or rated R movies I was good.
Awww, that's awesome :3
Good thing he didn't play through the story or else who knows how he would have reacted.
Here's my 8 year old (at the time) step-cousin playing GTA IV
D'awwwww this reminds me of the time I played Halo as a lad with my dad during release.
I don't think games have ever had any type of negative effect on me, wether it be killing civilians or not, it's just a video game. Animal deaths do make me sad though :(.
what a shit kid not beating hookers with bats in gta
I'd rather the hooker beating my bat. :pervert:
That kid sounds awesome. I wish my dad did stuff like that with me :saddowns:
I played GTA when i was 4... My dad smack me every time i ran over someone.
I remember playing Quake as a little kid. The monsters scared the shit outta me, so I just played all the levels in deathmatch LAN mode. Anybody remember Thief II? Great game, I still play it. The guards made such pained sounds when they died that I learnt to sneak around them or use the blackjack. Good times
When I played Driver at that age I was ploughing into cars, playing Carnage and all kinds of shit. Then again, my dad was doing the steering. Still, saying he wasn't exposed to the bad bits of GTA is ridiculous, considering he played the Vigilante missions and probably heard a lot of swear words and sexual crap from pedestrians.
Played GTA 2 when i was little too, but GTA 4 is a biiiit more than GTA 2:P
Since when does affect=harm? I have no doubt games affect kids, but that doesn't mean it is in a negative way. All the kid did was drive around in various emergency vehicles helping people, how the fuck is that going to harm him?
Because it says GTA on the box and :foxnews: said it was bad.
I didn't look up GTA until Vice City came out :/
In Gta VC All i did was beg my cousin to put back the flying car cheats every time i died.
letting a four year old play GTA? lol and one person does not account for the entire population. I like how the parent says, "he played GTA and never beat anyone with a bat!" it's accepted by basically every psychologist that video games can have a psychological affect on kids
psychologists are evil and try to control your mind

I still think its inappropriate as he will accidently run people over etc which is rather graphic as well as the random swearing from pedestrians. The mechanics he enjoyed can be found in other games.

I wish I never ever played a video game.
I played Vice City ,and NHL 99 (probably the most violent NHL in the series)
