gun lovers are fuckin idiots imo gun culture is a stain on society
Try recreational shooting sometime, its really fucking fun

Firearms are not just tools for shooting people. There is a huge amount of people who hunt, who target-shoot, and who collect antique firearms, in addition to the people who have them for self-defense and the "bad guys".
Well I have successfully facepalmed
Why?

They're basically brainwashed into thinking that places that allow guns are basically a violent hell on Earth. I've never "worried" about guns and I've never known anyone in my life to be negatively affected by guns yet everyone I know owns at least one. Unless you live in a bad area, it's really a non-issue.
You need to worry about the rights of the majority too, you can't just have random people having guns. In fact, there needs to be stricter regulations so that a regular back of the woods redneck hillbilly can't shoots someone's brains out.
Why?
"gun lovers are fuckin idiots imo" and "gun culture is a stain on society " sums it up pretty well.

How often does a redneck hillbilly shoot someones brains out? It's a once in an while far between thing just like most crime.

Guns are no longer just for killing.
I still don't see why anybody would ever need a gun (especially in cities).
In my opinion, guns are tools to be used to overthrow a tyrannical government. When the government fears its people, there is liberty.
I've seen much stupider things than this. Points at Christianitys fun facts.
I still don't see why anybody would ever need a gun (especially in cities).
Of course most gun owners dont need them. Its a hobby for the vast majority of people. You dont need a fancy camera or video game console but people enjoy using them so they purchase them.
"gun lovers are fuckin idiots imo" and "gun culture is a stain on society " sums it up pretty well.
Doesn't retract from the validity of the rest of the post. It's a good point he makes.
I still don't see why anybody would ever need a gun (especially in cities).
I don't see why anyone needs a motorcycle, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go and try and get them banned.
with a gun, an 80 year old woman is just as capable as a twenty year old man.

I'd be willing to bet that roughly 80% of the people here couldn't hit a simple target 30 feet away with a handgun.
So are guns the great equalisers or tools usable only by specialists make your mind up
I still don't see why anybody would ever need a gun (especially in cities).
Maybe self defense?
So are guns the great equalisers or tools usable only by specialists make your mind up
Handguns are much harder to use than long guns.
Handguns are much harder to use than long guns.
does that have anything to do with anything or...
I would not be comfortable living next door to a man who owns an arsenal of guns. I think a lack of gun control would be detrimental to my liberty.
I would not be comfortable living next door to a man who owns an arsenal of guns. I think a lack of gun control would be detrimental to my liberty.
Would you be comfortable living to next to a man who owns a car? Statistically they are a shit load more dangerous and kill more people yearly
So are guns the great equalisers or tools usable only by specialists make your mind up
Guns are difficult for someone who's never had practice with them. Chances are, if you own a gun legally, you most likely know how to properly operate one.
does that have anything to do with anything or...
Yeah, he said 80% of people wouldnt be able to hit anything with a handgun. Long guns are more straightforward to use and are more forgiving to those with poor form.
I would not be comfortable living next door to a man who owns an arsenal of guns. I think a lack of gun control would be detrimental to my liberty.
If he keeps them secured in his house, why is it your business? By having them banned, you're completely violating his personal liberties to defend himself.
So are guns the great equalisers or tools usable only by specialists make your mind up
80 year-old granny likely belongs to a gun club, where she can go to practice proper, safe handling and target shooting of her gun, to ensure she known hoe to hold and aim the gun to ensure she CAN hit a target at 30 yards. He's saying 80% of people HERE probably couldn't, as in Facepunch, because they've never handled a gun before, don't know the proper ways of holding it, or proper aiming techniques, and would therefore not be able to hit shit. Someone who owns one legally likely also belongs to a gun club, where they go to practice handling, aiming, and shooting the gun to ensure they know how to do it. This is why I support licensing of guns, it's important to ensure the person is competent, not a criminal, and knows how to safely handle a firearm. If someone known how to use it, it could save their life. If they don't, it could end it.
Would you be comfortable living to next to a man who owns a car? Statistically they are a shit load more dangerous and kill more people yearly
Exactly, if someone went off the deep end with a car they could be just as dangerous as someone losing it with a firearm, if not moreso. A gun cant plow through someones house.
Guns are difficult for someone who's never had practice with them. Chances are, if you own a gun legally, you most likely know how to properly operate one.
Fun Fact: Most gun related deaths are caused by firearms owned by that person, or one in the house. They do not make you safer, statistically.
In my opinion, guns are tools to be used to overthrow a tyrannical government. When the government fears its people, there is liberty.
There's a reason why practically every tyrannical institution in history outlawed civilian ownership of weapons before seizing power.
I would not be comfortable living next door to a man who owns an arsenal of guns. I think a lack of gun control would be detrimental to my liberty.
And gun control is detrimental to HIS liberty to collect an arsenal to preserve pieces of history and, in some cases, pieces of ART. There are some guns that a lot of intricate detail goes in to carving and etching intricate designs on them, and they look beautiful, they are truly pieces of art. Taking his guns away leads to the government destroying them, meaning we lose an important part of history and could lose a valuable piece of art. I've seen antique guns that are so rare now they cost $24,000, you can't honestly tell me you think some gang-banger's gonna take a lever-action rifle from the 1860s that costs $24K to rob a convenience store, just because it doesn't need a license to own in Canada. He'd buy the $80 illegal handgun from the ghetto instead. The only person buying that rifle is a serious collector, a law-abiding citizen who wants to own a piece of history. Taking that away from him not only loses him money, as the government doesn't pay you for the guns they confiscate, it hurts his liberty to own a piece of metal. Gun control, not lack thereof, is what impedes someone's liberty, as that man with his arsenal is not going to do anything with them other than hunt, target shoot, and maybe defend his family.
