You arent going to add the slide? Just the front end?
Or is this not ready for fabrication yet?
Just the front end. I was going to do the back if I could get my rear sight off, but it won't so that kind of screws everything up there. Besides, to make it look correct it would be better for me to design the slide and replace the current 4.3 slide.
can't make it to heavy. It's propane we are talking about

Oh dis is bad!
Comon dude, the front end looks so awesome, you cant have it incomplete!

I could design a piece that extends from the current kit that hides the slide. This would finish the look, but I wouldn't have a moving slide that I can see. At least you would still feel the kick, downside is you can't easily chamber a round.
If I can find a Hicapa disassembly guide and it looks like I can easily replicate the slide, I might do it. Not sure how long it would last or if it would even slide properly, but I got a few weeks to design.
So which way should I go?

Design a new slide entirely.. though it not being metal might not let it last long..

Gotta finish it right man.
Something so badass cannot be allowed to go unfinished.

But the slide would be plastic.
It would need CNCed out of metal or something to be really durable.
The TM slides are plastic, and they last a long time so plastic could work.
Problem I'm having right now is trying to take the damn blow back unit out of the slide. If I can't get that out, I can't get the dimensions. If anyone can find me a decent guide it would be helpful and I can get back on track to design the the slide.

Odd. I always thought plastic slides meant shit blowbacks. Oh well.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7114644891935381153&q=airsoft# 5.1 Disassembly.
Supposedly is just like disassembling a 5.1

There it is disassembled.
Also: "The sights are non-adjustable but are removeable (unlike the 3.8 sights which are fixed, IIRC). Both sights are held by friction, but the rear sight also has a set screw for extra security. The sights are not painted. Adjustable Bomar sights should fit nicely on the 4.3 since the grooves are already cut into the slide."
Perhaps you can remove the back sight after all.
Fuck it, I'm not making a new slide. I can't get the damn blow back cage out without destroying it or warping the frame just to get it out. I already snapped one piece on the cage, that's enough to make me stop. Unless someone wants to donate a spare hicapa slide and blow back unit, I'm not building the slide.
So this leaves 1 of 2 options. Remove the rear sight and add to that or build the rest around the slide. I removed the screw on the rear sight, but that damn thing still won't budge. They say it's a friction fit. Well damn did they pound it in there with a huge hammer or what? I can't tap that sight out of place. I'll keep bashing the hell out of it, but I doubt it will get anywhere.
Once again, if you know anything that may help I'd appreciate it.
Update:
Nevermind. Pried the sight off, ended up bending part of the plastic. Damn this design is stupid. It looks like you got to remove the blow back chamber just to remove the sight. I really hate stupid designs like this.
2 minute later update:
Well after ripping off that damn sight I was able to push the blow back unit out and have full access to the slide. Looks like I'm stuck making the slide now. Man I have one hell of a headache now.
Good news, the front end of the kit is complete. The Laser module has had 2 additional holes put in it so I can add some screws to it that hold it together. Not really worth posting a new picture over.
Got some initial work done on the slide. Getting the dimensions right on the inside is going to be a bitch. I'm going to copy the 4.3 slide as much as I can, then I'm going to add to it to make it look proper. I've already run into one issue of the M6C slide, where's the ejection port? I've looked at both the left, right and top views of it that I can find and none of them show an ejection port. Looks like I'll have to fake it.

Looks kinda ugly in my opinion.
Can't go blaming me for that, I didn't design the original pistol.
Here's an update on the rear of the slide. I decided to mount it through the back iron sight mount. I'm going to have to lighten this piece as much as possible, which will be hard due to the size.

So you think this is so awesome, yet earlier you said you liked 1911s without all the extra crap. Hypocrite much?
Alright I think I can say I'm just about finished. The only things left to do is add the little tick markers for the rear sight, maybe make that adjustable, and to cut a notch in the side of the slide so the safety lever can still be engaged.
The slide will be locked into place by sliding in from the back. Once it's in place, a small piece the size of the original rear sight will slide in from the left and be screwed down, just like the original sight.

I've left this area somewhat open so I have access to the hammer by hand if I need to. This also cuts down on the amount of material needed. The white box in the slide is where the hammer would move through.

Iron Sights. Sort of looks like a face now for some reason.

Here you can see the additional holes for the screws and nuts to hold the light/laser module together. Doesn't look as nice anymore, but it should get the job done.

Overall I'm very satisfied with this project. Now I just need to have it printed and see if it works or if I have just wasted my time.

I wouldn't say this is really a 1911 anymore. It's a Hicapa at it's base, but it's really trying to replicate a completely different pistol. A standard Hicapa is nothing more than a 1911 with double stacked mags and a fancy slide.
whatever its still uglier than the CQB master darksamus was complaining about.
Not even going to appreciate how much work I put into this huh? Just call it ugly and that's all?

M6C =/= 1911.
It's a whole new external, not modified 1911.

You're super cool.
Blame Bungie for its looks, and you haven't even seen the finished product yet.
