Wintersofting is awesome, provided it's not in middle of a forest with snow reaching your bollocks.
the worst part about wintersofting is gas pistols just straight up stop working. I've even seen CO2 pistols have problems and stop shooting.
which is stupid because one of the hosts has this stupid idea of a rule that less than 30 feet semi auto only, Im ok with this. Less than 10 feet side arm only. You're not allowed to bang bang with an AEG. :wtc:
Other hosts think this is stupid.
Last time I went, I got two shots out of my M9 before the magazine valve froze open and it blasted all its propane out the gun. My M60's hop-up was fubar because the silicone was too cold, and the fuse blew inexplicably thirty seconds into the game. My new rule is to only go airsofting if it's at or above freezing.

Wintersofting in a forest is fun. For half an hour maybe :v:
Wow. That guy from my field with the Rainbow Dash patch has a forum account too.
"Dr. Rainbow Dash" or something.
Yup.
Just got back from my first real game. I'm exhausted.
Hell yeah, got an EOTech magnifier, Oakley gloves, NiteSiters, and SawFly glasses for $160.
4leaf got backup sights, a real steel PASGT, and 3 STANAG mags for $80.
My mom also bought some WW2 British coat for like $30.
Good deals.

It's actually the most fun.
We played in a swamp/bunkered/overgrown area at an old bunker base.
Snow was heavy, but not too bad.
Was about -10 to -15*C
I'm at a swapmeet hosted by the local airsoft club
So much cool shit here for cheap, Imperial Airsoft is about to show off their 2012 lineup, excited to see this
hybrid sight!!! likein emdubya
Swap meets are the best. Sold the best stuff. Like $20 for a Aimpoint, made plenty of money a the same and made some friends.
shit i have to go o my local swapmeet and see if they have some ~tactical~ stuff
also try gun shows. If youre underage go with an adult.
I wish there were decent gun shows over here.
Closest thing to a gunshow i'm going to is this:

Hopefully they'll have some shit for sale, maybe i can pick up a cvc helmet or a tank crew jumpsuit. If not, i can still go and stare at some tanks and shit.
No adult would take me to a gun show :smith:
Mentioned to my grandfather I wanted to buy a shotgun and he may just give me one.

Okay, after a total amount of experience equating to one hour of play, I've determined what I need to work on/acquire to boost my performance to acceptable levels.
Acquire:
-A good quality gun (I'm thinking an M16A2 model with 20rnd mags)
-A sidearm
-Some decent batteries and a smart charger that comes with some decent instructions (very important)
Improve:
-gun maintenence in a confined workspace and in the field
-general physical fitness
That's about it. Also, if I'm going to do wintersoft again, snow cleats.
eh, if you want to get in shape for airsoft do ruck marching and work on your hip flexors. it will make you a powerhouse on the field.
You might not need a better gun, you can always outsmart the enemy. 20 round mags will cripple you on the field if everybody is using midcaps.
Side arms are far more useful in cqb than field play. I wouldnt worry because thats a bit of a money sink that wont see too much use. Wait until you have more games played.
I already talked about batteries today :3
Also only an hour in the snow? You should get some harden the fuck up. :v:
As for snow cleats, these are awesome: http://www.yaktrax.com/product/xtr
the other versions aren't so good, they get kind of clogged up and then you're just running around with 2 pieces of ice on your feet.
I can't tell what your intents are, but don't get realcap 20 round mags, you'll get fucked over near instantly outdoors when you immediately run out of ammo. Midcaps in a 20 round magazine design would be fine, and I imagine that's what you mean.
I personally wouldn't sacrifice ammo capacity for looks though, bad tradeoff as soon as you start playing.
Sidearms are fun and neat and all, but I'd worry about that last. Especially since I imagine you'll be playing outside and in the cold for a while. Only way I can swing it is by running all the time and being at the front of all the charges. It also helps that I use it in addition to an MP5K.
You'd be best off getting a small secondary (like the aforementioned MP5K) that is cheap to buy and works fairly well. Relying on only a pistol in the event of a downed gun is an uncomfortable situation.

My gun chronoed at 220 FPS. :v: I could hit the target with reasonable efficiency, but they either didn't notice because weaksoft, or I didn't hit them because long range.

I tend to stick to semi. I know, that dosn't fit well with the method of filling the target area with BBs, but I do not like to waste ammo.

Yeah, getting a sidearm is low priority. It's somwhere below getting a job if you know what I mean.

Sorry, I didn't see where. Could you link me?

Not even. We had about 3 inches of the stuff in the field, and that was in patches. Keep in mind, this was a CQB field, and the ground was concrete. People were falling on their asses all over the place.

Seriously, don't buy 20 rounders. Remember that AEG's don't feed the last 4-5 bb's anyways, so you get 15 shots off before having to reload, meaning you will be fucked at all times. No point in being cautious with your bbs either. Having a large mag capacity with semi is a good idea too.
There are too many factors involved to do well with any consistency in 20 rounds, I know, I run a pistol most of the time. Also, its expensive as fuck to have any reasonably amount of ammo with real cap mags.
With one midcap you'll have 6 times the amount of ammo, which means when you do have to reload, you only reload one mag instead of 6. Having large reserves of ammo doesn't force you to shoot a lot.

I never meant to imply I was looking at realcaps. I simply meant Midcaps in the form of the old 20 round magazines.
I guess I should have been clear on that.
midcap is bestcap
I Miss bad reading
midcap is bestcap
Yeah, I kind of like the fact that they don't rattle every time you take a step. The capacity is also decent.
