Airsoft Chat Thread V.7 Shimano gears are the best
Of the ones you listed, only the M60VN and Mk43 are 'true' support weapons in that they have very high capacities and the ability to lay down continuous fire. L86s, RPKs, and other magazine-fed machine guns are limited by the need for changing magazines and keeping hicaps wound up, both of which make it harder to keep an area suppressed for long periods of time, and necessitate buying lots of magazines.
The A&K MGs are cheap, but not great to start with, with the absolute weakest points being the hop-up and motor. Replace the hop-up bucking and nub, and replace the motor (a piece of cake, it's a very easy gearbox to work on) and you get a highly effective MG with very good reliability and durability for just the price of the gun plus about $45 of parts.
It does come down to what you want to do. If you want to run around as an infantryman with your squad, and just have the capacity to put out lots of full auto when you need it, an RPK, L86, or MG36 might be a better choice as they're a lot lighter, are more ergonomic, and have the convenience of being compatible with standard magazines. If you want a dedicated support weapon, though, an M249 or M60 is a better choice IMO.
The only gun I would advise you stay away from is the A&K M249. Like the M60 it's easy to upgrade, but from what I've seen it suffers on a couple of the strong points of the M60. Where the M60's box mag is ridiculously reliable and simple to use, the 249's is prone to jamming and has issues with its microphone. There are also problems with the trigger switches getting caught in the gears, and cosmetic issues. It's not a terrible gun overall, but aesthetics aside there's not much reason to take it over the M60 given its drawbacks.
You know, at this point I'm thinking we should maybe have a thread/guide about support gunning. What do you guys think?
How about M240B from echo1 is it a full "support"? Should I get?

Echo1 did a good job with the weight:cost ratio
jokes
it is heavy

It's definitely a full support gun, although I've never seen one used because it's very expensive and unnecessarily (albeit realistically) heavy. There's nothing a 240 does that a 60 doesn't.
Also if you want to save some dorra (debatable since asia shipping) you can pick the china one up off gunner
So, I have $80.
Agree for start buying RRV stuff.
Disagree for put last touches (rear wiring and crane stock) on my M4.
Funny for save up for a pistol.
I think everyone should have a decent sidearm
What would be my best-functioning bet for ~$200? From what I know a Hi-Capa, but specifics would be great. Also, this should probably go in Questions thread, but fuck I'm lazy.
I'd say primary > gear > pistol.
but for >200 pistols, you can pick anything you want aside from some WA. I'd go for a TM

Tokyo Marui HiCapa 4.3 or 5.1. The 5.1 requires drilling to fit a rail on the bottom, the 4.3's is integrated. Otherwise they're the same.
Eventually you'll have to upgrade some stuff after using green gas, but you'll be fine for a while. You'll need to get a metal slide, a metal slide lock, and a spring set.
Pick literally anything by TM
Is there any advantage to the 5.1 over the 4.3 as far as accuracy? I like my handguns small. :quagmire: All jokes aside, what is there in the way of lefty-friendliness for Hi-Capas?
If you want something small and lefty, I'd get a KWA USP compact
Accuracy benefits are gonna be negligible, stick to the 4.3.
Hi-Capas are plenty lefty friendly, I shoot mine left handed most of the time.
Trigger the mag release with your middle finger and the slide release with your trigger finger and you'll be fine.
Not ultra high speed, but that's all you have to do.

There are really no lefty-friendly pistols besides the FN 5-7 (I think)
But, to answer the other question, the 5.1 will have slightly higher fps than the 4.3, otherwise really no difference other than size
Instead of getting a lefty-friendly gun, become ambidextrous, it's awesome.
GET A 5-7 OMG
How expensive are 5-7s, and is there anywhere that stocks them? Then again, haven't looked.

However, I don't know if anyone makes metal slides and replacement spring sets for green gas.
You can find the metal slides and stuff on Ehobby. Hold on.

spring set- http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/mag-replacement-spring-set-for-marui-fn5-7-series-gbb.html
I thought there was a slide but I can't find it. I swear there is though.
I know that Creation makes an aluminum internal slide. Guarder makes a whole kit, but it's polycarb
Thing is, that price. :v: I just want as nice a performance as possible for around $200, but keep in mind I still need mags/holster.
KWA usp then, they won't let you down
Would the Hi Capa shoot further than the USP? I play major woodland/field, so range is superior. Also, how easy is it to change out slides/triggers/etc on a Hi Capa?
A TM pistol will outshoot most clone AEGs. What you lose in it being plastic, you gain in range and accuracy.
Changing parts on a Hicapa is easy as hell for the most part, you just watch a disassembly reassembly video, and make sure you have lube.
As I found out today, some part require work to fit, but if you stick with the stock grips, you should be fine. Slides are easy to change and are pretty universal, triggers take some work to get into but are also pretty universal.
Just post stuff here before you buy it and we'll be able to tell you what's good and what's not.
For you, I'd say stick with the HiCapa 4.3
Thx babes. <3 Now I just need to wait years to acquire cash. :v:
Notrabies, I have a potential buyer for my AK :D
I might have your money within a month because if I can make the 2 sales on saturday, I'll be up to 200. Then I just have to do chores for my parents and grandparents for fiddy dolla and I'll have your box o' fun
Evike just received a new shipment of TM XD-m's

Get 'em while their overly priced hot

lolwut. Not even the real "steel" one has a metal slide.

The slide is steel, it's just incased in a polymer shell.
