Nah I'm just trying to find a nice vest, face mask + Kevlar, pouches/whatever attachments I need, pants, gloves, kneepads, maybe elbow pads, and then I'll just get boots from a thrift store or whatever
kevlar
airsoft doesn't hurt that much

Well whatever the helmet is called, I just need to find a nice facemask + helmet.
I use water bottles in between breaks during a game; I never really bring my hydration camelback thingamajigs because I don't like water weighing me down especially when I only drink it during breaks

And camelback + Chechen War loadout = immersion ruined
also helmet, goggles, and lower face mesh masks work reallt well. Paintball masks and helmets don't fit well with eachother

Nah my grandmother got me a mesh facemask when I was just a lad, but now I know they're complete shit and break easy so I wanted to get just a facemask/helmet
Or maybe it was just really really cheap.
she probably got you a shitty one instead of one worth the money
[editline]25th March 2012[/editline]
that's like having a kwc springer, breaking it, and assuming all airsoft guns are cheap and shit

How much would I expect to spend on my loadout except the pistol/rifle/ammunition? (Given that the gear is decent)
No I understand that, I just thought I'd start with the gear first, then I'll select a gun. This was the other vest I had considered http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=28_173&products_id=8265
~$100 on pistol(assuming you want a gbb)
$100-200 on a rifle/50 on spring shotgun
like $20 on bbs
gear is basically on what you want

I usually carry about a gallon of water in my rucksack along with ammo and other gear and supplies, when I'm doing a day-long operation. I'm the team pack mule so really don't mind. Having a team where you can delegate out who carries what, so the heavy players pack heavy and the HSLD players can go light, is very nice.
at hsp, even though games last 5-10 minutes average
i carry everything in my ruck, but now that my hydration carrier carries both my water and my supplies now its even better plus its molle so it mounts right on my back
so my team members can grab extra primary/secondary mags, gas, speedloader, cloth(only because sometimes the paintballers are dicks and shoot you in the face and cover your goggles with paint) and some other misc stuff

Alright for my gear I'm probably going to go order the gear online or go to my local airsoft G.I store, and then for the boots since they are an expensive piece i'll try some thrift stores or something.
they have $25 boots at evike
Don't buy them. They're cheap and over priced for the quality. Buy real boots

I got a pair of surplus Bellevilles for $40, they're very nice boots in my opinion, and surplus is cheap.
I got a pair of surplus bellevilles for $2.00 USD

Wow, that's amazing. Did you go to a surplus store? Thrift? I don't think I have many surplus stores in my area.

Also how viable are snipers for field play? Deciding whether to get a sniper or an AR
Do not get a BASR as your first rifle..you will get outgunned by almost every AEG.
Get an AEG.
I love my Converse boots. shit be comfy as fuck

Searching it and I keep getting BAR. Or BAR-10, which seems like a nice sniper rifle. Are there AEG sniper rifles as well? I was searching them and I keep AR?
He's saying not to get a bolt action sniper rifle.
It takes several hundred dollars worth of upgrades and lots of custom work to have even a decent airsoft sniper, and even then they're basically worthless.
My Bad, BASR as in Bolt Action Sniper Rifle.
The Bar-10 is a nice rifle, especially when upgraded correctly. But that is hundreds of dollers to do.
What is your price range and what kind of electric rifles would you be interested in?

Well, my maximum price range for my first weapon would be roughly $200-$300, I know it's not a lot but it's a decent start. I was looking at the A&K Masada, but I hear it's an O.K. brand. I'm usually interested in ARs/Snipers but only electric, I know spring isn't very good.
