My KWA G36 has gone through many thousand rounds on 11.1v's (its outlasted 3 LiPo's over the years) and its fine, but it was built for the task. No mosfet, but its built like a tank and lucky.
A 7.4v is considered to be better than an 8.4v and either slightly worse or equivalent to a 9.6v, depending on its C rating.
I'd be fairly confident that anything put out by VFC can handle an 11.1v with ease, and that everything besides the BE would be fine. I'd be much more concerned about damaging the battery by overshooting it, but its easy to not do that.
Panic averted.
Codemonkey, get an 11.1v lipo, now. You will have basically instantaneous trigger response. It's the main reason I upgraded to that one my VFC, for whatever reason the stock motor/wiring wasn't cutting it on a 9.6v and people were outshooting me, so I bumped up and now I can match almost anyone out here.

What, people using hicaps? I use hicaps.
What, people using hicaps? I use hicaps.
The ones carrying ten of them into battle...nobody needs that much ammo, nevermind the fact that I'll hear the BBs sloshing from the other side of the field.
I have a much more personal beef with hi-cap spam, not because I can't deal with it (most of these people are easy kills and little threat), but because the people in charge enforce various stupid rules up here because of these people. Said stupid rules make a lot of games up here miserable.
I use hicaps because midcaps are expensive. But when I use it I only use one, and rarely need to refill (I usually play with a hicap on my gun, and four 40-bbs midcaps on my vest, besides two speed loaders on me. I have never had to refill my mags in a game, ever.
Also, RE: Lipos: Nah, I play almost exclusively using semi. In fact, I may be wrong here, but I think the brand that could stand 11.1 with stock internals actually was KWA. I dunno, I really love a 7.4, it's more than enough and I have delicious trigger response (especially compared with my 9.6 battery I used to play with). And everyone I've spoken with that know more than me about internals have told me that if I use an 11.1 lipo I need to get a mosfet.
I dunno. My recommendation is to play safe and either get 7.4 or a mosfet and 11.1, but I can't really assure you that 11.1 is a sureway to explosions. I just speak from personal experience, as I said, I know jack about gun internals.

I'm getting cheap 7.4's off of Ebay, $17 each so if I overshoot them I can just ditch them. Is that a disposable price? Not really but they're cheap enough where as I could endanger myself by continued use I don't feel bad throwing it away.

I fired off a handful of shots with a guys lipo at the field to see if my technical problems were because of the battery since my gun has ceased up. Turns out the battery felix gave me with his AK was shot. (I still love you bro)
But the trigger response was bitching and it felt like I had power behind that thing. Usually, especially with my Tavor though I see someone and I go to squeeze of three quick rounds as fast as I can because he could be crossing a street or what have you and usually the first one fires but than the second and third are just empty trigger pulls and I have to switch it to full auto and fire a couple of shots to get semi working again. Didn't have that issue with a lipo.

I got my XDm SERPA but no XDm yet..

Oh, quick question. I'm about to order a batch of 7.4's and I was wondering what the suggested mAh is I should buy.

I'd love to use midcaps, but they seem to cost an awful lot, especially for G36es.
High caps are convenient for me, and i have carried 10 M14 midcaps into battle before but only because where i play the majority of the team me and my friends aren't on is made up of rentals who only have high caps and like to spam a lot, so it's just convenient for returning a similar amount of fire to what they're putting down.
I'd love to get midcaps, though. I'm sick of rattling.

I only usually have to reload if there's a ton of heavy fighting (rare given how we play), or if I testfire too much or otherwise waste ammo. So far I've never really had a need to employ high-caps and don't see why people need more than one unless they're trying to pull off some kind of look that doesn't include load-bearing gear. Why would you say they're expensive? $10 a pop vs. $30 for a high-cap?

Interesting, I see where you're coming from but is it that necessary to lug so much ammo into battle? I usually attempt to outwit or outmaneuver an enemy when I don't have enough firepower to deal with them. Also, having friendlies to back me up is a Godsend.
My tactics usually involve shooting a lot or ditching everything and running in with a rubber bayonet.
I'm not good at airsoft, i just try to have fun whilst i'm playing it :v:

No problem with that really, if that's what you like to do.
It's 90% gear anyhow.
i know someone who runs an 11.1 on his completely stock old tm-style tacticrap cyma ak and the only problem is that the stock snapped off cause someone stepped on it
the belief that if you plug an 11.1 into your gun and the trigger mech will burst into flames without a mosfet is completely false

Mmm, mine is 1600mAh, 25 C. It's supposedly for RC planes but it was a shitload cheaper than an airsoft lipo, so I just got it and modified the cables.
Getting a batch? How much do they cost?

It's hard as fuck to find decent midcaps locally. I don't intend to buy any more mags for my G36 (1 hi and 4 mids have worked for me with no problem for over a year, and I'll that gun as a gift to my brother in a couple of months anyhow), and those are cheaper (the midcaps were about 13 bucks each), but now I need mags for my M16 (I only have a hicap and a midcap) and they're impossible to find. And if I want to bring them from abroad it's a pain in the ass because the cool metallic ones are too heavy so shipping costs too much, and I really really REALLY don't like pmags. I think I'll just have to save some more.
Shit, I need to save a shitload of money. In order to play I need a new battery (old one's going with the G36 to my brother), a mosfet, mags, and hopefully a secondary gun (I've been thinking of getting an electric glock since I can't be bothered with gas. The M16 is just too uncomfortable to use in close quarters).
the turnigy nanotechs that i got from hobbyking are leagues better than my eliteairsoftbatteries lipo
Get turnigy batteries off hobby king. They're only like $10 or $12 for a 7.4v 40c 1800mah and they're top of the line quality.
And sorry about that battery. I was kinda iffy about it, but it was like 10 degrees here so I wasn't sure if it was just the cold or battery.
Link? I also need to find a Imax B6 Charger but Ebay search is down and I don't want to order off Amazon.
What's this bullshit about warehouses? Does that mean I need to place an order with the Charger, Deans connector and power supply and another one with the batteries?
[editline]16th April 2012[/editline]
WHY IS THIS SO HARD
I just want a Imax B6 Charger, 7.4 Lipo and a Deans thingy so I can actually charge that shit. I'd like to get them within a month.
just buy them in a single order then
Charger, Deans and Power Supply are "International" warehouse
Batteries are "US" warehouse.
So apparently I need to place two orders? I guess that's fine but how long does Hobbyking take to ship International? Is it Ebairsoft/Dealsextreme long or what?
Never mind, they have an international version of the same battery but my question still stands on how long it takes to ship.
Also what is that connector? I'd have to switch all of these batteries over to deans.
it took about a month for them to ship 2 lipos from hk with cheapest shipping
the shipping provider they used (swisspost.ch) shipped the package through zurich before coming to murrica
worth it though
[editline]16th April 2012[/editline]
xt60 connectors
Well, ordered more deans connectors and a warning thingy off Ebay. Also the batteries off of Ebay. I'll get the charger and shit from HobbyKing.
How long should I be able to play with 5 7.4's lipos? Apparently they don't last as long as Nimh.
Probably pretty long. I run 1 NiMH and I run all day long without complete draining my battery.

These are cheaper. Good to go?
* Imax Charger - Check
* Power Pack - Check
* Deans Charger - Check
* Lipo Buzzer - Check
* Extra deans - Check
* x7 7.4 1800 mAh Lipos - Check
I should be Lipo ready by the end of the Month.
I may or may not order from Evike in the next few days. It'll be a $265 order so I'm not in a rush since those orders arrive within a week, whereas China orders takes months. And than my Blacksheep loadout will be like 90% complete.
I took the risk on the China-Shit Lipos. The hobby forums say they're good/average and if they blow balls I'll order good ones last minute from a US based hobby shop but for $7 a piece they're essentially disposable.
That ended up being like $160 order or so.
Lipo's last significantly longer than NimH, someone's fucking with you.
My 1500 mah lipo lasted me all through the first 6 hours of Pine Plains before I swapped weapons, and it still had loads of juice left in it. It probably went through 1K-2K bb's in those 6 hours too.
The guys at the field were like "You'll get maybe 1000 rounds through it before you need to switch"
Doesn't matter. You can never have enough batteries, they're so cheap compared to NiMh's
That's ridiculous. I've used my lipo for a whole day without running dry. Hell, that's one of the perks.
EDIT: I mean, sure, it's better to get a lot, but "maybe last 1000 rounds" makes no sense. They're wrong or someone sold them wired potatoes and told 'em it was a lipo.

Yeah, most I've made it through was 8 hicaps in an afternoon and the lipo still continued to work.
Totally random number, but I think they're close to 10x as effective per mah as a nimh.
so I impulse bought a m1100 and extra shells after shooting felix's....
Link to the one you bought? Because I'd like to see what it looks like and stuff.
