will it come to PC/Steam?
The initial release is not planned for Steam, just PS4 / XBO. However, the director himself expressed in an interview that they've been considering a PC version, and that if they went through with it, they'd consider reinstating everything that was cut out from the console versions due to system limitations. In a sense, a literal director's cut. But first they want to release the console versions and make sure everything's good before they theoretically start working on that.
Character designs alone are enough to ensure I have 0 interest

If I remember right Square Enix took a lot of feedback and tweaked a lot of stuff based on what people have said about the demos. I wouldn't be too worried.
FF games always deliver in terms of music and overall game feel and art design, so I'm not too worried. The game itself looks massively interesting/entertaining, the way it's been handled and the unique style of characterization the game promises certainly do look exciting to me. I can't wait for it to release. [editline]10th August 2016[/editline] People have been wondering about this for such a long time now, but I just don't know. I think it's generally thought that it will be a delayed PC release. Square has been showing us a lot of love on the PC, so I don't think they'll leave us at the gas station when the car goes off, so to speak.
Damn it's been 8 years+ since I listened to this for the first time. Also the director has expressed interest in making the PC Port he best version, by adding technical features that were cut from the console versions.
Funny enough the game was initially announced a decade ago, a year after the FF7 Tech Demo (which was also followed up a decade later with the FF7 remake reveal, 2005 to 2015). And while the empire soldiers in FFXV are robotic now, in the original Versus XIII stuff they were flesh and blood humans that Noctis gored, cut down and snapped the necks of. The main central city everything revolves around was a pastiche of Tokyo, and later versions of Versus XIII showed off the other party members that you could switch between for different gameplay styles. Hell, back when it was on PS3 the game looked a lot like contemporary Square-Enix games of the time in style and play compared to the.. unique look the final product has. Worth noting is that some elements of Versus XIII carried over into the Final Fantasy VII Remake. This video sort of shows the original 2006 trailer, the one in the OP above, 2012 gameplay, where elements of the final product are definitely visible, before finishing off with gameplay from earlier this year. It's kind of a funny little game. The sorta thing you laugh and joke about and take the piss out of but then play anyway because you secretly love the whole 4 best buds on a roadtrip theme of it. I'm quite hyped to play it, hope there is a PC version and that it runs well.
I can't believe how well the usual Final Fantasy stuff with the emo hair and magic and dragons blends with modern day technology like phones and cars and shit. I absolutely love the setting for this one. I also like that they toned down the outfits, I mean they still look like the fucking Backstreet Boys, but at least it's clothes you could see someone wear (If that somebody is like a Japanese male model or something but you know what I mean).
... compared to the 4 main characters we have now: [t]http://static1.gamespot.com/uploads/original/1541/15415335/2809471-6499373576-final.png[/t] Hell, they're color palette are so similar the bottom of their shoes are all the same damn color!
iirc the explanation why their outfits were so similar was because it's the royal uniform or whatever.
Is that the excuse they're going for? Cause it looks like their royal designer also did N'Sync's outfits.

This is Director Tabata. The clothing worn by the four main characters is the official battle gear of the Kingdom of Lucis. Noctis is a member of the royal family and the other three characters are parts of various Lucian national organisations and they are each wearing the specific battle dress relevant to their individual stations. In the Kingdom of Lucis where our heroes reside, the colour black has historically been treated as a special colour. Because of this, the attire of the royal family and those in occupations closely tied to them are unified by having black as a base colouring. This part of the lore is the reason why the outfits of all four main characters are black. For the finished game we also intend on having their clothing having effects in battle and not just being a part of the world and its background. So watch out for that too!

iirc the explanation why their outfits were so similar was because it's the royal uniform or whatever.
I wanna say I remember people having similar complaints about Crisis Core because between members of Soldier and the Turks darn near everyone wore nearly all black outfits. I personally don't mind it at all if it fits the overall tone of the game.

I personally don't mind it at all if it fits the overall tone of the game.
Eh. In Crisis Core SOLDIER had their colors of blue for 3rd class, red for 2nd, and black for 1st, although technically 1st could wear whatever the hell they wanted, thus Sephiroth's and Genesis' outfits. Although this was a tiny retcon from purple being the color of 1st Class in the original. So really, that just left Zack at a halfway point onwards once he hit 1st, Angeal [sp]up to that halfway point due to dying[/sp], Sephiroth, Cloud by technicality later on, and the Turks for black. But then the Turks were a pretty frequent element to the game, since another game revolving entirely around them was happening at the same time story-wise. The party in FFXV looks a wee bit ridiculous, it looks more like ridiculously fancy casual wear than any sort of military uniform I could ever imagine, but whatever.
