This isn't just about the main wars, it's about every single war, every single soldier that has fought for people's freedom.
That's what most government's tell their soldiers but they almost always have another agenda in mind.
Excuse me, what? Are you suggesting that Remembrance Day is a conspiracy?
No i'm saying this about almost all wars, they are not fought for freedom but for a hidden strategic agenda (land and resources for example)
No i'm saying this about almost all wars, they are not fought for freedom but for a hidden strategic agenda (land and resources for example)
For the moment, that's irrelevant. These soldiers still deserve respect for what they did.

Maybe to the people at the time to some extent (though certainly not to the extent you claim), but they've since been studied extensively. The archives of many nations during the world wars are now opened, and even more recent ones e.g. Soviet archives in Moscow, detailing everything up until the collapse.
My grandfather was in the mechanized infantry and fought in the Battle of Okinawa. I respect the great men who fought for my country and many others.
What? No they don't
You may think that, but you can't dictate to people who they should or shouldn't respect.
You may think that, but you can't dictate to people who they should or shouldn't respect.
Do you respect Ted Bundy?
why should we honor murderers? and why would ANYONE praise the american military. they've been committing war crimes and doing terrible things for decades now.

I mean, after the Feast, white people continued on with the gradual genocide of the entire Native Population that lasted for centuries.
My grandfather's a racist so i told him to fuck off n' die when i went to his house, then ran off like a 12 year old cherrypicking. I also shouted outside my window when 30 or so people stopped for the 2 minute silence.
Can we shit on Thanksgiving too? I mean, after the Feast, white people continued on with the gradual genocide of the entire Native Population that lasted for centuries.
yes you can
yes you can
Nah, on second thought, I think I'll keep my week off of school that day.

[editline]13th November 2010[/editline]
Nah, on second thought, I think I'll keep my week off of school that day.
if there wasn't massive amounts of food, i would talk more shit about it. But I can't resist that.

Random94, could you post some info on the US killing pro-communist civilians? I'd like to read about that.
Ok, so you're going to forget the incredible bravery of thousands of soldiers fighting in the First and Second World Wars because of some bad things that happened in the Cold War? Don't generalise soldiers because of some bad deeds comitted during wars in the past.
That was 70 years ago. And it's not even the entirety of soldiers or just the cold war. It's the fact soldiers are used as thugs for pointless wars.
Not to burst your bubble, but you do realize it was because of the European Colonies, the British Empire included, that Africa and the Middle East are in the territorial mess they are in now. The US never pressured you, you guys got kicked out.... [editline]9th November 2010[/editline] We were equally sending medical and food supplies to Germany and England. Against the Treaty we signed with Germany, we were also sending weapons and ammunition to England which warranted the attacks on our ships by German U-Boats.
before trying to call Britain bad or trying to make Britain look bad, please read a history book. The middle-eastern, african and Indian continents were left with stable and profiting governments. Iran (otherwise know as persia ) had a royal family elected by the public. Look at every single stable colony that Britain left behind... Immediatly they go to war! the Burmease-Indian war of 1947 is a perfect example! we gave them independance, they immediatly go to war! The resulting, unexperienced leaders left behind, have no plan of rebuilding there country.
