Never knew about this day, being an American. I'm glad there are days like these to honor those who have served.
It's Veteran's Day here. It's the same day.
It's Veteran's Day here. It's the same day.
Ah damn, you're right. Got confused since I went to a service thing for Veterans Day on Sunday. Didn't realize that was today.
Modern day Germany! How is it being occupied by the Romans?
Because the Romans are secretly controlling them, their empire never fell, they just went into hiding. ITS A CONSPIRACY MAN
I hate all those idiots like you (Dragon Master) who think America had nothing to do with WW2. While you stood idley by, taking it slow, us Americans pushed through France like a hot knife through butter. When we kowtowed to your British generals, you led us to nothing but defeat. If it wasn't for America, Germany would have reduced England to rubble. Do you forget that we also gave you guns and vehicles?

I'll give my respects, however Just wanting to point this out. Why is it when us Brits show some sorta respect like this everyone is cool with it and thinks it is respectful. But when an American will show respect and try to speak kindly of their armed forces they're redneck's who are over patriotic. Just a thought..
If it wasn't for America, Germany would have reduced England to rubble.
I'm sure the RAF had nothing to do with that at all..

Although it doesn't really matter to someone who truly does care for their country. Patriotism is never something to be ashamed of. I mean unless your house is painted in the colors of the flag or something which.. I guess is going overboard but still commendable. No matter what country you come from or where you live, you should be allowed to express your love for that country without being mocked.

I posted that where? Read a history book. about 20% of troops in the war were American. the only reason why people think differently is because of Hollywood films splashing out everywhere. I love the americans. Without them we wouldn't have seen the mass disintegration of 100,000 people. we wouldn't have had the M4 Sherman. The British provided logistical tech, the Americans provided tanks and guns. Which is awesome. Please before trying to start an arguement actually know something about WW2. you should really go outside once in a while. because you say British and yet you also say England. I wish you would make your mind up on what you are trying to say. If you looked at a map, you would see that "England" you refer to as Britain is made up of 4 countries. Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England. Until you can comprehend that statement your arguement is invalid. Stop being elitists. If one country did not help the Allies(US, Britain, Russia,Australia, Canada) we would've lost, and all of them played an important and equivilant role. Stop whining and remember our veterans.
It's because America was happy to standby and watch her European and Canadian Allies die in the name of freedom. If Japan hadnt attacked the USA, we may have had to fight the war on our own. I'm not saying we would have lost because we still had the soviets. But it would have been alot longer than a 6 year war. The British in North Africa threw out the Krautes and then moved onto Italy. The D-day landings were majority British and Canadians anyway so not much a difference would have occured. During D-day 70% of the Troops were British and 90% British during operation market garden. Yet the USA take ample amounts of credit away from the tommys.
You are mistaken. Before the U.S. entered the war, we were sending the U.K. and many other Allied nations much needed supplies to fight the war. We were even sending this when the war first broke out. The U.S. preferred to help the Allies, but wanted to remain neutral. As for your D-day statistics, you are also wrong. On the first day of the Invasion of Normandy, approximately 143,000 soldiers landed. Roughly half were U.S. and half were commonwealth. Try googling it before you post. That being said, neither the U.S. or the U.K would've been able to fight the war on their own. Here's a link because I doubt you will go and search. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_production_during_World_War_II As for the troops that landed on D-day. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invasion_of_Normandy#D-Day Enjoy EDIT: I might also add that if it weren't for the U.K. and France using Appeasement on Hitler for as long as they did, you might have been able to avoid a large chunk of the war.

Infact, America was selling supplies to the nations who were at the time fighting and subsequently getting rich.

The U.K. had not nearly enough production to manufacture the goods required to fight that war.
This is what these soldiers fought and died for. A bunch of children arguing over the internet.

We were selling them mostly to the U.K. with the intent of them paying us back, which was eventually payed for.
Great Britain was the greatest country on earth. First truely free men that developed the entre world as we see it today. if we weren't pressured by the USA to give independence to the Middle East and Far eastern colonies. the war on terrorism may not have even started. :downs: [editline]9th November 2010[/editline] Yup :v: Did you know it was a platoon of Welsh fusiliers that burnt down the origional Whitehouse. During the revolutionary war.
Not to burst your bubble, but you do realize it was because of the European Colonies, the British Empire included, that Africa and the Middle East are in the territorial mess they are in now. The US never pressured you, you guys got kicked out.... [editline]9th November 2010[/editline]
Sorry, didn't mean to sound like we were just giving them away. Against the Treaty we signed with Germany, we were also sending weapons and ammunition to England which warranted the attacks on our ships by German U-Boats.
Anyways, here in my school for Veteran's Day, we're giving a moment of silence during morning announcements. I believe we are also given praise to any veterans that the students put on the list.

Dragon Master is obviously trolling guys. Just ignore and don't feed. Either that, or he's way too arrogant. Back on topic, I'm glad theres a day for honoring veterans and fallen soldiers in the UK.
