I'm British and no, who fucking cares, the last person who lived through it died last year. Gone. You don't see people grieving over the War of the Roses.
Angsty nihilist alert
My great grandpa was in WWII, I believe his unit or what you called it had a tank. He died a few years ago. My grandpa was in Vietnam working on engines and stuff, never got into a firefight.

Isn't it called "Veteran's day"?
You don't see people grieving over the War of the Roses.

Isn't it called "Veteran's day"?
Remembrance Day, Armistice Day or Veterans Day.
How am I celebrating my celebrating my veterans day?
Two tests and working on a project.
Damn it.
Going to relax with friends , no school.
God bless.

Veteran's/Remembrance Day honors all veterans who are still serving in active duty or ones who had passed, dying for your freedom.
which happened about 65 years ago. What about everyone who died for no reason in between?
Is it bad that my Geography Class talked during the two minutes silence.

Most kids do that, these days. Either out of ignorance or they just don't care.
But then again, kids will be kids. Back when I was in high school, my attention span ranged from a minute to three minutes. Soo..

Clearly you have no idea what this event is about.
At school today there was a service of remembrance, it was inside as it was raining. Two people passed out during the two minute silence, and another two during the Last Post.
Woah..

weaklings
Some little ass fuck in my year started swearing all the way through the silence and said "Thank fuck this shit it over" when it finished.
There's now a small gang going to beat the little inconsiderate shit up.
Many people seem to forget what gave them freedom, many people remember, sadly I think the latter are the diminishing numbers.
If I have a kid some day, I will teach him to respect any and every soldier, or serviceman. The people that fought for freedom deserve everyones respect and attention.
Hell, I spoke with a troop today, shook his hand and said thank you. Didn't know him, just asked out of curiosity, and the fact he was wearing some badges. Which I know weren't fake.
Heaven will always open it's pearly gates to these men and women.
Is there a Reich day?

What gave them freedom was the constitution written 200 years ago, not some soldier killing small brown people in an unprovoked invasion.

These people died fighting for their country. They deserve respect, whether or not they were "Right" in retrospect.

Killing others for a bullshit cause does not really warrant respect.
Do you respect Somalian Militiamen?

Blame the leaders.
The soldiers are just following orders for what they think is a just cause. Again, whether or not this cause is the "right" one is irrelevant. They're willing to fight and die for other people, and that deserves respect.
OH, oh, then that makes it OK?
So I can rape, kill and murder, but I should be honoured because someone told me too.
Beautiful logic.

You're willing to murder for your country when you know it's wrong, and that deserves respect?

You're saying they knew it was wrong? Retrospect is a wonderful thing.

you have to be pretty ignorant to realise things like the Iraq war are complete bullshit.
