The only way this would make sense is if they only had enough money to make one or the other and Activision Blizzard is practically made of money down to the sub-atomic level at this point so I don't think it matters.

Not a whole lot beyond Metzen helping develop the script. It's Legendary Pictures with ILM doing the CGI.

ya they're mostly limited by manpower at this point, they've got a dev team on their FPS, they have hearthstone, Heroes, diablo, WoW, WoW dev team, and then their network people holding it all together. money isn't the issue its how many resources they have able to throw at it

Well obviously that's how it's going to be and I don't have an interest in seeing it because of that, especially with cg orcs mixed into live action.

and that's fine, I'm obviously just not the target demographic for this film.

The reason they can't make a full on trailer cinematic movie is the amount of time it takes to make one. IIRC (might be wrong here but fairly sure Im correct) it took them about 6 months - 1 year to make the WOTLK cinematic trailer.
