i was about to close it but baauers set was literally so bad and i was laughing so hard at the chat commentary i stuck around till the end
some dude named Skream came on and played a really awful set that went on forever so the venue cut the audio and tried to get him off the decks but he got mad so he picked up the CDJ 2000's and threw them into the crowd, and some dude on stage picked up one of the CDJ's and threw it into the air before it came crashing down, breaking on the ground
plus i was kinda hoping MC Ride would bust in from backstage and just start beating the shit out of people
the sexual tension between ride and fantano was beyond words

people were already speculating based on last nights performance that flatlander wasn't really there, and zach was just dressed as flatlander to fool everyone. it makes sense if you think about it, the skype drumming is impressive but doesn't really make sense. how could zach play on time with the live performance with the delay of the skype call? not only that, but after i first heard the theory i realized when you look at "flatlander" during the boiler room performance, he really didn't seem to be doing much? he seemed to have his hands on the keys and near the pitch controller and all that, but his "playing" didn't really correspond to any actual sounds, and i never noticed anything in the instrumental that seemed even remotely "live" apart from him trying to mix the Hustle Bones samples into The Fever.
so basically: Death Grips sold someone ecstasy to initiate an ARG, and revealed that Zach Hill was actually dressed up as Flatlander for the Boiler Room performance, and the Skype drumming we saw was prerecorded.

someone mentioned a2b2.org, flatlanders personal site. he always updates it with weird messages in the source code so i checked it on a whim and noticed he had some jquery stuff in there that seemed like it was supposed to play a video but nothing was happening. i copied the video id into youtube and got this vid from march 2nd which is unlisted

plus that's not from the live boilerroom show
watching the boiler room show i remember noticing andy's chin seemed a lot more chiseled and had some fuzz on it whenever the strobe would hit. plus the riddle, combined with the impossibility of the skype drumming + "andys" performance not really doing anything but faking hitting keys kinda confirms it for me
