I believed it when I was 11, Now I see the world as less mysterious.
I don't think anything will happen.
What worries me though, is that this one has been talked about for a long time. Most of these doomsday prophecies I hear about, I hear about something like a month before the date. This one has been there for a very long time.
It's always been like a joke to me, and I haven't met anyone or heard of anyone that actually really took it seriously, but I imagine they will step out and start shouting when the time gets near...
It's funny, because the Mayans literally never said a damn thing about the world ending on December 21st, 2012.
They just added as much time as they could, and It happened to end on December 21st, 2012.
Stop believing everything that the media wants you to believe.

This
You'd think if they could predict the end of the world hundreds of years later, they could predict their own downfall.
They ran out of room on their calendar, oh deary we all gunna dai!
Same as Y2K, its just not going to happen.
Why are some people reaching their conclusions based on some stone calendar made from a now-extinct Indian culture some centuries ago?
I mean. The fact that the Mayans didn't even live to the point of 2012 already says something right there.
Thats what i try to burn into peoples heads when they bring it up at school Im what if, the calendar maker died before hi finished and none of the other Mayans could understand his/her algorithms their fore the calendar wasn't finished.
Apparently, that was only a "spiritual coming" and the actual rapture is on October 21st.
[editline]1st October 2011[/editline]
Here's a photo from May 21st btw:

I drowned in flowers.
The end of the world that day was windy and pretty. Nice to know we will die with a good view.
I don't think it will happen for a long long time. We will always find some odd date to think the end of the world will happen on. Anyone remember 06/06/06? I remember that devastating apocalyptic ending pretty well. I moved into the house I am in now and slept on a couch.
I'm terrified of 2012, I mean fuck, I turn 18 that year. Being legally and financially responsible for myself is a frightening thought.
The Mayans thought the world was flat and began a few centuries before them so why should they be right about this
[editline]1st October 2011[/editline]
I wish I could rate dumb, anyone who believes this is a huge idiot.
Used to believe the shit out of this
then i had my 13th birthday

Il go with our guys thanks.
Fear mongering, that is all.
[editline]1st October 2011[/editline]
I would really want to see what will happen though.
I'm scared for 2012 because people will start looting and shit because "It's the end of the world, no consequences! WOOO! LET'S GO FUCK SOME STUFF UP"
I believe 2012 is going to bring upon serious social and economic change. With the current movements, I feel safe saying that the future may be bright.
Nope.
I'm surprised that Y2K and any other Doomsday Theories before hasn't taught people that It's all a bunch of bullshit.
Its silly how people are scared of a calendar just ending on a date.
Just because a calendar ends doesn't mean the world will too.
Of course the world won't end, it isn't even a "Mayan prediction" or "Mayan theory", it's a "theory" from a bunch of people who noticed the Mayan calendar ended and decided to make a huge fuss out of it.
Oh wow, a calendar ended? That's like, the end of the world as we know it or something.
No. It's gonna go the same way things did last May, it's going to go the same way as y2k, it's going to go the same way as that cult that said the world would flood and that god would save them and only them in a flying saucer. It ain't gonna happen and the second it doesn't happen everyone is going to move on to the next end of the world theory, if I remember correctly there is a Celtic one that says it's 2013.
If the shit ends, why does it matter if we flip out or prepare for it?
If shits going to end, its going to end.
Though I don't believe it will at 2012.

If it's going to end then your actions have no consequences. You can do stuff like spend all your money, cheat on your wife, and assassinate the president without fear of retribution. I remember one woman took advantage of the May 22nd/1st thing to stab her children.

Yeah man. I mean if I could do things without being caught, I know the first thing I'd do is cheat on my girlfriend, spend all my money on shit I won't be around to use, and kill a president who won't be around anymore!
the world wont end people who believed that it would end in 2012 will say "We got the date wrong"
and everyone with common sense will call bullshit wash, rinse, repeat.

Those were just examples I could throw off the top of my head.

Who makes a calendar that isn't progressive every year? If the Mayans were as clever as they were supposed to have been, why didn't they create a calendar like we have today where it resets every year? Their's sounds more like a countdown than a calendar..

It does reset. It goes from 13 B'ak'tun, 0 K'atun, 0 Tun, 0 Winal and 0 K'in to 0 B'ak'tun, 0 K'atun, 0 Tun, 0 Winal and 0 K'in, or from 13.0.0.0.0 to 0.0.0.0.0.
Isn't the 21st December 2012 the wrong date anyway? I read somwhere that is not the actual date on the calender.
If anything I am a believer in a rebirth period occurring near 2012. Some huge scientific advancement is going to come out that'll change the universe as we know it.
If the Mayans could predict the end of the world, then why arn't we in their religion?

Yeah. End of the world? Bullshit. Something's going to happen that will change us humans but I'd have no idea what that would be.
Maybe the Mayan's predicted the ultimate Steam christmas sale starting 21st December V:v:V
