ive got one of these myself, then i have a small collection of about 4 bombers and 1 other unshanka.
I have an all rabbit fur one I got for Christmas a couple years back , super warm and serves its purpose perfectly. I'll post a pic later

Got one of these but in brown and its amazing, but I hardly end up using it because every jacket I have, has a hood so I just put on a scarf to cover my mouth and use the hood for the rest.
Bought one like 7 years ago from Quiksilver and loving it. I've been thinking of getting a soviet one but I'm just afraid of getting attacked since commies are known for their violent acts towards the citizens here.
I've got one with a big ass Soviet hammer and chisel badge type thing on it. I wish they were more socially acceptable otherwise I'd wear one.

Yeah, don't leave the pin on. Then you will definitely look like a dork.
As I said before if you have a leather one it might be really hard to undo it. You need to reach around the front fold of fur to get to the back of the pin.
The ushanka may be the quintessential commie red hat, but the Budenovka still takes the cake as the forgotten classic of the Red Army.

It provides superior coverage to the ushanka, but on the downside it turns you into a conehead
I have two, one of them looks like the pilots above but its likely a knock off. It's also huge and looks ridiculous when anybody west of the Dnieper wears it. I have another smaller one which I've been wearing more often lately, bought from a normal store rather than army surplus. Although once I put the Guards pin in that I bought from a Bulgarian antiques dealer a few years back, you'd never know.
