Yay. Nice to have a picture of [sp]11 and 12[/sp] :suicide: [sp]TDT seems pretty adamant this is the case. it's so shit. It confuses the hell of the numbering. In the past production teams have leaked fake info to throw people off and discover who's leaking info, I hope this is the case. [/sp]
[sp]But the Atraxi's Doctor video feed, surely they'd be able to tell?[/sp]
I'm afraid to open the Pandorica that is your latest spoiler/rumor, Dan... very, very afraid...
Don't. On the one hand it's exciting and new. If done right. On the other it's stupid and pointless. If done anything other than right. Just don't read it, then if it turns out it wasn't true you don't have to go through the stress.
BIG POSSIBLE 50TH SPOILERS This is from a reliable source. It's a lot to swallow and it will make you mad. First the good news: Want to know who's been cast as The Doctor? [sp]John Hurt[/sp]. The REALLY bad news Know how we get pissed off when Moff decides to throw continuity out the window and retcon everything? Well prepare to get REALLY pissed off. [sp]Hurt is playing Doctor 9. It's not a recast. The Doctor will discover he's forgotten an entire incarnation. So 9 is now 10, 10 is now 11, 11 is now 12. The 50th will explore what happened to cause 10 (the one we used to call 9) to erase/forget his own regeneration. The story will be mostly based around why The Doctor ran away from Gallifrey and who he is running from.[/sp] So yeah. Big middle finger to the classic Doctors. Though this explains why we never get a Doctor 8 - Doctor 9 regeneration. I don't know if it means we're going to get one.
Well... It's not... TOO bad. I mean, it's an interesting concept. [sp]It fucks up the numbering of the doctors, yeah... but I have some hope. We'll just have to wait and see. It COULD work, and hell - it could give more insight to the Last Great Time War.[/sp] I'm not gonna hold off judgement til the episode airs. Who knows, it COULD still be good.
[sp]But the Atraxi's Doctor video feed, surely they'd be able to tell?[/sp]
I know. Which leads me to think it might not be the case. Unless it was a shotlived Doctor who didn't get out very far. The general hint is it's time war related.
I know. Which leads me to think it might not be the case. Unless it was a shotlived Doctor who didn't get out very far. The general hint is it's time war related.
[sp]I think theoretically the Doctor regenerated from 8 to this 9 during the Time War so it being shortlived makes sense. The bigger question is why he'd forget, but I'd assume given the time war stuff something happened that he just couldn't stand to remember?[/sp]
I already know what's being discussed so I'm going to break my own rule already :v: [sp]If any of it is at all accurate, then I'll take John Hurt playing The Doctor. Of course I will. However I don't buy for a second that the numbers will change regardless of what happens in the 50th. Not for a second.[/sp]

[sp]being John Hurt is a pretty big secret[/sp]
It's been hinted The Doctor has a massive secret. [sp]being John Hurt is a pretty big secret[/sp]
A secret so massive [sp]he forgot it himself?[/sp] :v: On another note, that set photo got me excited. Omfg.

[sp]John Hurt is genius casting. But as a Time War Doctor it's pretty unfair on Paul. They could've easily done the same story with Paul. Something traumatic happened and The Doctor has forgotten his time as the 8th Doctor and his regeneration into the 9th.[/sp] Here's a bigger version of the picture of The Two Doctors. Whose the guy in the background? John Hurt? [sp]All three on set together? Leans towards the idea Hurt is also a Doctor[/sp].

A suggested he could've been a very brief incarnation. I mean, if you think about it, the Doctor DID fight in the war, it's not completely impossible that he and many other timelords had to regenerate into incarnations that didn't last very long.[/sp]

Maybe he changes history, the Eleventh (10th) Doctor dies at Trenzalore? Moffat getting confused at his own sub-plots?[/sp]

Now we've got two Doctors who only hung around for one episode.[/sp] Though this explains the twelve TARDIS' at Blackpool Illuminations towards the end of the year :P
Hell, this could mean we get to see [sp]both 8 regenerating into 9 and 9 regenerating into 10. That is, if the numbers do get shuffled. Or was it confirmed that Eccleston was out?[/sp] [editline]17th April 2013[/editline]
[sp]No but it seems they missed a great opportunity to bring Paul back. It would be sad. And a bit of a waste of a regeneration. On the other hand, Valeyard![/sp] [editline]17th April 2013[/editline] WAIT. [sp]John Hurt cast as the Doctor, Valeyard is partly the Doctor (or rather, his evil side). John Hurt is Valeyard travelling through time to try and steal the Doctors regenerations like with the 6th Doctor, 11 goes after him to stop it. He runs into 10 and gets his aid. EEEH??? YES?![/sp]

And a bit of a waste of a regeneration. On the other hand, Valeyard![/sp]
Valeyard would be cool but I doubt it. Continuing a plot strand from the classic series doesn't seem like a possibility sadly. That said it is still rumoured that Paul will appear before the 50th so maybe [sp]in the finale we will see 8. At the end he'll regenerate and the audience and Eleven are watching expecting Christopher Eccleston to appear. SUDDENLY JOHN HURT. WHAT? WHAT!? what. Eleven freaks out and is like "Who are you" and Hurt says "I'm The Doctor" and Eleven's like "DOCTOR WHO!?" and then Steven Moffat jumps out from behind a bush and pushes Eleven over shouting "FALL OF THE ELEVENTHTHHH-TWELFTH".[/sp]
Why is it so difficult not to click spoilers? I must not give in.
Well, Moffat, you've done it. You've officially written the most stupid Doctor Who plot I can think of. Well done.

Although [sp]that little plot summary could work pretty well up until the Moffat bit! ... Actually no, keep the Moffat bit in.[/sp] :v:
Well, Moffat, you've done it. You've officially written the most stupid Doctor Who plot I can think of. Well done.
Don't get mad yet for two reasons: 1) Just a rumour. Might not be true. 2) It might be executed really well 3) Most stupid Doctor Who plot involves oral sex with a paving slab I know I said two reasons and gave you three but the plot twist is: 1 is actually 2 and 2 is actually 3.

I'm not talking about little, inconsequential things. [sp] Revealing there are actually 12 Doctors out of nowhere is really bad and stupid [/sp]
These same sources once confirmed 100% that Paul McGann would appear, chased by the hordes of Genghis Khan - in a Tennant episode. Relaaaax. It's never as bad as it first appears. Unless it appears like this.
I hope it's fake, I really do. Plot is fucked up the arse if it's real. I just watched the Band of Brothers episode with Elton, I couldn't take him seriously aha
[sp]It does sound retarded on paper, but if there is a intelligent reason why he can't remember Hurt, I have no problem with this[/sp]
[sp]Eleven (or is that Twelve) didn't remember the great intelligence, so it's possible the time war broke his memories and caused him to forget that he was John Hurt at one point.[/sp]
That and the fact he was in his 2nd incarnation when he last fought him
[sp]Eleven (or is that Twelve) didn't remember the great intelligence, so it's possible the time war broke his memories and caused him to forget that he was John Hurt at one point.[/sp]
So I wasn't alone in [sp]wondering why he didn't remember the GI then? It would explain it and given this being series 7 and all, who knows.[/sp] [editline]17th April 2013[/editline] By the way, is it just me or have Daleks grown... sluggish? Watching "The Survivors" with Hartnell and they move and turn so much quicker than they do nowadays.
That and the fact he was in his 2nd incarnation when he last fought him
He only fought the ice warriors last in his third incarnation, but he still remembered them.
He only fought the ice warriors last in his third incarnation, but he still remembered them.
He did say [sp]"broken memories", not "completely lost".[/sp]
[sp]Eleven (or is that Twelve) didn't remember the great intelligence, so it's possible the time war broke his memories and caused him to forget that he was John Hurt at one point.[/sp]
What do you mean [sp]forgot the GI? He even mentioned his encounter with him on the London Underground. Which eventually led to the GI going to the London Underground in his first chronological encounter with the Doctor.[/sp] Dan, you're a great man, and I love you for telling us these things. But if that plot is true, I will stab myself with a blowjob-giving slab.
On the off-chance you spot a feature on DWTV headed "Steven Moffat's Fairy Tale" in the near/distant future, note that it is of my musings.
What do you mean [sp]forgot the GI? He even mentioned his encounter with him on the London Underground. Which eventually led to the GI going to the London Underground in his first chronological encounter with the Doctor.[/sp]
I was talking about the bit at the end of the episode, when he's looking at the business card. He says the name "great intelligence" rings a bell, rather than stating what it is and so on, like he does with other enemies.
