The TARDIS is quite big, seemingly.
The show is just as silly now as it's always been. Maybe less so. Easily the silliest ending in Who history. Yes, that included.
Knowing Moffat The Doctor's greatest secret is that he's gay.
the reaosn he takes female companions is he's gay that makes perfect sense!
Can barely believe this was written by the same writer as The Rings Of Akhaten
Can barely believe this was written by the same writer as The Rings Of Akhaten
Having to watch on iPlayer, but I'm assuming from this that it's a good episode?
I REALLY liked that episode but did it really need the shoe horned monster love subplot? The creature thing would have been better if we never saw it clearly and it was just evil. saying that, best of the second half of the series! Loved it!
Just dropping in to say THAT is how you make a fucking Doctor Who episode! 10/10.
Are you shitting me? Was that [sp]another 'Power of Love saves the day' thing?[/sp]
Can barely believe this was written by the same writer as The Rings Of Akhaten
I can barely believe that the writer of Rings was the writer of Spooks :v: Ah Neil Cross, such diversity. <3
It hardly saved the day, it just lessened the impact of the ending. Didn't make it much worse to be honest because the rest of the episode was so fun, it was more intended to make children less scared of the creepy monster in the misty woods I guess... Maybe BBC wanting to reduce the amount of complaining letters from mums about their kids having nightmares :P
Good episode, mainly because they actually just gave us the story without arseing about.
Nice characterisation and symbolism to boot
And on Gallifreybase, they've decided that Moffat 'doesn't care about the show' because Matt Smith mispronounced Metebilis. I weep for them, I really do.
I agree that it wasn't as scary as it was hyped up to be, Blink was scarier IMO. I also agree that it was a great episode but the monster love story at the end was bad.
Also I think the episode would have been better off if there was just [sp]one monster, and it was never revealed. Then remove the power of love stuff, except the couple.[/sp]
[sp]Yeah, that part where the Doctor runs past a dark spot and you see something twitch in the shadows was one of the creepiest points of the episode for me.[/sp]
But yeah, that certainly was not the scariest episode, not even close. But overall it was a good episode, wasn't horrible.
I think the episode would be a lot scarier if the camera didn't intentionally focus on the lighting flash views on the creature, but instead they just randomly happened in dialogue or a scene or whatever, and the creature's silhouette appeared. But y'know, it was a really good and sort of jumpy episode so who cares!
The first part where we see the creature (not the woman) move, I could've sworn it was just a chair leg or something.
I really, really enjoyed that episode :v: proper, decent Who. The writing was superb, the directing was brilliant, and if the next few episodes are anywhere near as good as that then I'll be beyond happy. Could've done without the last bit, but I guess if it wasn't there then there'd be a gaping hole in the story - i.e. what was the monster in the house doing if it was chasing the woman in the pocket dimension - but it didn't ruin the episode. And I liked how the monster itself wasn't explained in any great detail, obviously some thought had gone into it, like how it moved unnaturally and everything, but the emphasis wasn't really on the monster, it was just sort of there to be scary and give a sense of urgency to everything. And the TARDIS! I liked that they used the TARDIS a lot more than they have been doing in this episode. And then there were the little touches, like "Doctor What?" and the high five and stuff like that. Ahhh I really, really liked it!
That was really good. It was paced nicely and didn't rush to the end despite a massive build up. Until the last 5 minutes. But still, it was really good. They should get him to write every series.
I actually liked the finish, it made sense and made me go "d'aww" :3: also Dan are you doing / have you done that youtube series about doctor who that you were talking about a while back?
Next week's SFX review... predictions unfolding as usual.
It’s an okay episode, but a little disappointingly underwhelming for a story with such a deliciously tantalising title. Our prediction: Doctor Who forums will be full of people moaning about the resolution.
http://www.sfx.co.uk/2013/04/20/doctor-who-7-10-journey-to-the-centre-of-the-tardis-spoiler-free-preview/ On the plus side, Lancashire, yeah!

Gaiman should have written the Centre of the TARDIS episode and Thompson should have written the Cyberman episode. Journey to the Centre of the the TARDIS seems like a more Gaiman'y concept to me! Oh well.
