It really doesn't matter too much where you start.
Alright then I'll continue to read The Call of Cthulhu. Just got to the part where the narrator finds the bas-relief.
Currently reading The History of Civilization by Will Durant. It's an 11 part series about well, the history of civilization! It starts with the orient, and ends (I think) around the time of napoleon. He wanted to finish napoleon, but he died in 1981 and never got to. [IMG_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/0326111708-00.jpg[/IMG_thumb] Cover. Its hardback and published in 1951 [IMG_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/0326111708-01.jpg[/IMG_thumb] Title [IMG_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/0326111708-02.jpg[/IMG_thumb] Map of the book. [IMG_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/0326111709-00.jpg[/IMG_thumb] Table of contents [IMG_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/20110326171334.jpg[/IMG_thumb] Some random section. You can see some pencil marks in there, thats because I got this from my grandmother after she passed away. She got the series the year he died (1981) and finished 10 years later, in 1991. What she did was whenever Will Durant cited a book of some sort, she would put the book down, and go get that book. It took her 10 years, but she effectively learned the history of civilization, and read the most influential books ever written. She was a book destroyer in that she always marked things down for reference and cross reference. Im starting with the first of the series and going to go all the way down to napoleon. Im not retired, so I dont have as much time as her to read every document published, so ill just read the series.
I finished The Call of Cthulhu. The way Lovecraft vividly portrays Rl'yeh and Cthulhu is amazing. It's a true testament to 20th century horror and I encourage you all to read it if you haven't.
But it's not 19th century
But it's not 19th century
Woops, meant 20th century.
I own At the Mountains of Madness
I'm going to read Mein Kampf, has anyone else read it?
I'm going to read Mein Kampf, has anyone else read it?
Pretty much all it is is Hitler talking about strategy and hating the Jews
Harry Potter series are good books.
Tomorrow I'll be ordering the leatherbound complete Lovecraft collection and 1984 with the cover art posted earlier in the thread. After that I hope to get Brave New World and Ender's Game, then continue working down my list.
Just finished this [editline]26th March 2011[/editline] Good read, it's like around the world in 80 days but with a car [editline]26th March 2011[/editline] and 20 more days to accomplish the goal

Currently reading 'The Bachman Books' by Stephen King, pretty good collection of 4 short stories. Mostly about madness but 'Long Walk' was amazing.
I like Lovecraft's stories but his writing style makes them really hard for me to read. Just started Count of Monte Cristo and I'm liking it quite a bit so far. [editline]26th March 2011[/editline]
I own At the Mountains of Madness
Speaking of which I found an 800 page small print book at the library with At the Mountains of Madness, Call of Cthulu, The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, Herbert West Reanimator, and 18 of his other short stories. Wanted to read it but I'm terrible at reading and small print murders my eyes so I only got about 100 pages through before I had to take it back.
I'm going to read Mein Kampf, has anyone else read it?
I got about twenty pages into the 736 or so pages on my e-reader and sad, "Pff, quit whining" and never picked it up again.
Unless you have a crush on Hitler than Mein Kampf isn't too interesting to read.
[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/98/SoundAndFury.JPG[/img_thumb] I have this around here somewhere...
I love that book. I wanna get something else by Faulkner sometime.
Finished reading Fear Nothing, now I'm reading and
I'm too lazy to post a pic, but 'The Mist' and 'The Long Walk' by Stephen King are very well written and very interesting.

misery is amazing [editline]29th March 2011[/editline] I'm gonna have to buy Long Walk, it seems interesting
I just borrowed this from the local library. Now of course, not to be confused with The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells. This is a pretty interesting book about a colored man, who so far, appears to be a little insane. He has convinced himself he is invisible, but not in the sense that we know. Rather, he sees himself invisible, for other people simply refuse to see him. He can walk down the street and not one person will turn and look at him. It's about racial tensions fyi. So far a good read.
Have a box, so you can throw that garbage away. I learn 10x more from internet and when i read books, its just like combination of dumb sentences where you cant undestand any shit.
just got The Hunt for Red October should be good, although tom clancy's typical FUCK THE SOVIET UNION US US *beats chest* attitude is a bit annoying
I don't mind that, it's the useless fucking pages long descriptions of fancy tech that won't come into play ever again.
No Man's World came in today. I can't get over how AWESOME the cover is. I can't wait until the sequel is released just so I can have that sexy chainmail tanker mask cover.
Just finished His Dark Materials again. The ending was as depressing as I remembered it being. :frown: Not sure what to read next though...
I just started really reading the Poetic Edda today. I'm liking it, but my translation is odd.
Almost finished reading Chris Carter - The Executioner. Pretty good book, although it's a bit boring in some parts.
Just finished Henry Miler's Tropic of Cancer. Not as much sex as I would have expected based off the controversy. I guess we're more desensitized to some of that stuff now. I've just started Portrait Of the Artist by James Joyce.
