Just finished Age of Odin. Fairly good novel about British soldiers and Norse gods.
Moving on to Android Karenina and Machine of Death

Finished this a while ago (translated by Louis and Alymer Maude.) Awesome book. Best book Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy wrote, which is saying something.

A pure science fantasy classic.

Been reading this on my iPod (public domain, free) and I must say it's pretty damn hilarious for being from the 19th century.
Finished Misery yesterday. The ending pages was fucking crazy and held me in suspense and for the first time I felt actually scared by a book

Has anyone read this yet? I have heard it's magnificent, is it?
I keep looking through kindle books.
They're nothing but crap paranormal romances.

Pretty awesome so far

I'd say thumb that image if it were any other book.

I finished it a week ago. Very good book. There's a couple parts that I found a bit tedious to read, but since the book's so long there's plenty of other interesting parts.
[editline]1st April 2011[/editline]
I kind of want to play tennis because of the book now.
just got The Hunt for Red October
should be good, although tom clancy's typical FUCK THE SOVIET UNION US US *beats chest* attitude is a bit annoying
Oh man, I remember some of the ridiculous shit in his later books, like a cavalry division beating the shit out of two corps-sized formations and a magical cluster bomb that could destroy 1000 tanks.

Finished this book recently. Out of all the books about a 1980s war in Germany, it's the best since it doesn't show the Soviet Army as an inept force that gets its ass handed by NATO (like in Red Storm Rising, what a shitty book that was).

And that is why I will not be buying a kindle till they actually sell good books.

Well that's not exactly fair; the books that have REAL counterparts can still be good. I'm just talking the overwhelming majority of ones exclusively for kindle.
Besides, no need to buy a kindle if you have practically any other mobile device. I just read on my iPod for ebooks.
(The cool thing about that being you also have ibooks and kobo.)
House Of Leaves is my favorite book, reading drove me absolutely insane.
Right now I'm reading Paradise Lost.

I wouldn't be able to read off an iPod, screen's too small, plus reading off any screen hurts my eyes.
I love my nook.
I'm about half way through 1984, right after Winston scores with Julia.
It sucks that I already read a spoiler at one point that says that he is [sp] arrested and tortured[/sp] it kind of ruins it for me
Hello fellow facepunchers!
I was thinking on reading H.P Lovecraft books from now on and was wondering if you guys could recommend which ones to start with?
If you could add some info on the books it would be awesome!
Cheers
Anything by Clive Cussler is awesome.

The quality is really clear in my opinion, I've never had eye problems with it and I wear glasses.
As much as I'd love to get a nook/Kindle/iPad, I just don't enjoy reading off of a screen. I really like having something physical that I can bend, fold, etc.

I dropped it for that very reason, just felt so boring getting there after that.

The pages turn from the corner with your touch on idevices. :v:
Seems more real than just sliding to the next page.

Well it's not that I can't read off a screen, it's mainly that the brightness hurts my eyes.
I only use my ipod for public domain shit anyways, with the occasional exception.
WHAAT THE FUUUCKK
**1984 spoiler**
[sp]so the brotherhood was a lie in order for julia and winston to admit that they are traitors, then they are tortured and brainwashed into believing in the ideals of the party, and in the end before he is executed winston realizes he has won the victory over himself, that he has come to love big brother??[/sp]
goddamn that was unexpected
Some people haven't read/finished 1984. Spoiler that shit.
