Has anyone read Will Grayson, Will Grayson? Amazing book, I've read it twice. Extremely funny and I couldn't stop reading.
On the case of wolfs, Alison Croggon seems to have a fond attachment to wolfs in both the second and fourth book. And they are damn good books. My friend told me of a book by Kurt Vonnegut with a space ship powered by boners, and the guy get's ED and gets stranded on some planet or something. [editline]7th July 2011[/editline] Does anyone know what book he's talking about?
I'm supposed to read Mythologies by Roland Barthes for uni. FUCK SEMIOTICS AND EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.

What does facepunch think of Artemis Fowl? I won part of the collection a few years back for summer reading and I'm not sure if I should start on them or not.
They're not bad I have only read up to, uh The Lost Colony.

[editline]8th July 2011[/editline] I enjoyed the Series of Unfortunate Events books much more.
I'm currently reading Life of Pi for summer reading. Normally if I read I read books that I want to read so i'm not really into summer reading. But this is an exception. Basically this is how it goes. A boy named "Pi" Patel, who is Christian, Muslim, AND Buddhist(or hindu) at the same time sails to Canada with his family. His father is a zookeeper and is taking all of his animals with them to Canada, that is until their boat sinks. He is trapped on a lifeboat with an Orangutan, a Zebra, A hyena, and a 450 Tiger on a lifeboat. First the Hyena kills the Zebra by eating it's broken leg, the Zebra kicks the Hyena and pisses it off. So The Hyena OPENS IT'S STOMACH and GOES INSIDE IT'S BODY and eats his organs from inside. The Zebra lives until the next day. Then the Hyena and the Orangutan have an epic battle (not really the orangutan dies in one blow) and now it's just Pi and the Tiger.(who is named Richard Parker) Also Pi can't jump out in the ocean because there are lots and lots of Mako sharks.(and other kinds of sharks) :pwn:
That book sucked. It was the second worst thing we read in AP Literature next to The Kite Runner.
That book sucked. It was the second worst thing we read in AP Literature next to The Kite Runner.
I'm trying to make the best out of it.:v: I didn't even read the first half I just skipped to the part where the ship sank.
Anyone here read "The Heritage of Shannara" by Terry Brooks?
I've read Nineteen Eighty-four, and am going to get Brave New World, Animal Farm and A Clockwork Orange as soon as I can. Can anyone suggest some more books of this genre and calibre?
Fahrenheit 451
Can anyone recommend me some good Steampunk books? Aside from Jules Verne? I'd also recommend everyone read the Leviathan series by Scott Westerfeld, they're awesome, and the illustrations add so much to the story.

I got one of my friends a book that he thought was brilliant, because it's a bedtime book for kids and he's a young father. It's called Go The Fuck To Sleep and I had a good laugh at it too. That boy is going to grow up a manly man.
You're a bit late, that was on Reddit more than a month ago.
This belongs in The Chat Threads section.
Why don't you PM a moderator about it or report it?
You're a bit late, that was on Reddit more than a month ago.
I know, I ordered it online a month ago. It just arrived today. So.... not late.
This belongs in The Chat Threads section.
I think I remember this thread being around before the chat threads section.
I've been reading God is not Great by Christopher Hitchens, and I must say that it is very well written. It's also damn interesting, dancing between morale reasons and plain facts as to why religion is a terrible thing. Also I haven't finished Atlus Shrugged yet and I want to give up on it but I am on page 423 (I think):suicide:

I just finished Eoin Colfers new book, his crime debut "Plugged". Since I never read any crime books I can't say whether or not its very good, but considering his previous work I'd say so, and I really liked it. Its kinda short though. And the ending left me disappointed. A little. Really small bit.
Alright I just finished that last book in the Night Angel trilogy. Now going to read 1984 anyone got any other recommendations that I could read?
Going Bovine. Really bizarre book, but great read.
i read it for the articles
