I went to the Borders liquidation sale and bought a copy of The Chronicles of Thomas Covenatnt the Unbeliever: Lord Foul's Bane and Elric: The Stealer of Souls. I would have bought a lot more, but I only had $30 left on my Borders gift card. I'm reading A Spell for Chameleon right now, and I also recently bought Children of Dune. Which one should I read first? [editline]22nd July 2011[/editline]
Just went to Borders for the liquidation sale and got Blood Meridian, The Silmarillion, Two Gentlemen of Lebowski, The Atlas of Middle-Earth, the big black, gold-edged hardback Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy which looks like a fucking sacred tome, Settlers of Catan, and Rogue Trader
I have that same Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It's sitting on my desk right now, in fact. It's gone through a bit of wear, unfortunately. The bookmark is frayed badly at the end.

We have two book Barnes and Noble, both connected to a mall near us, but they don't look like they are closing anytime soon. I don't remember there being anything but boring self-help and such books on clearance.
I always feel like I'm going to get tackled when I go into Barnes & Noble for magazines and such, as I usually have my Kindle in my back pocket. :v:
Keeping something in your back pocket is pretty silly Been reading it slowly since... October I think? I just read the second story again (Beyond the Aquila Rift) and it blows my mind every time Enola is also amazing
Keeping something in your back pocket is pretty silly
My sister puts her ipod touch in her back pocket, and many girls with their phones. I'm not sure why anyone would do that, I could imagine it falling out on numerious occasions.
This one isn't that great compared to Consider Phlebas and The Player Of Games (both of which are the best novels I've ever read, I'd place them above Revelation Space, and that's saying something), but it's still pretty good. Hopefully Excession will be better.
Excession is brilliant, easily one of his bests. If you're into Iain M. Banks, give "The State Of The Art" a read, it's a collection of short stories and a novella.
I have obtained a hardcover copy of The Ultimate Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy. I am pleased.

Anyway, to keep on topic, reading the Abhorsen series by Garth Nix right now. Despite it being young adult fiction quite below my reading level, it's very interesting and well written, plus it's about my favorite type of magic, necromancy.
Brave new world= Hilarious. I just started re-reading everything by H.G Wells and apparently I've forgotten how good the Time Machine was. A+
I borrowed a book of stories and poems by Edgar Allan Poe from my aunt. I'll most likely start reading it tomorrow.

I bought a special edition of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy which was silvery looking, but yours sounds amazing.
Recently I finished reading the first book in several series, and ended up buying the full series for each so I have enough reading material for college. Currently on the way are The Wheel of Time series (all hardcover), the Black Company series, and the Song of Ice and Fire series. Didn't cost me near as much as I'd anticipated either, since every book I bought was used prior to my purchase. And, while I rummaged through several used book stores, I found The Art of the lord of the Rings, which has some really awesome art inside, and several 40k books I didn't own yet, which now brings my total amount of 40k books up to just two shy of five dozen.

currently reading Darkly Dreaming Dexter. The book/s Dexter the TV show is based on. i've already seen all 5 seasons of the show, so I know how the book plays out, but i'm still enjoying it. read about 3/4 of it today. finish it tomorrow and most likely order the other 4. one thing i've noticed, is how well the actors in the show play the characters. it's damn near perfect
This book is damned interesting. It lacks words which makes it more of an art piece I guess. It tells the story of an immigrant in a strange new land and him trying to cope and understand everything. Well so far it does.
Well I started back up on writing my book about a man who takes insect poison, mixed with acid looking for a strong trip, but after the trip he starts dreaming while he is awake, starting from hallucinations to full out dreaming and to the point where he can't find the difference between dream and reality. I'm not giving out anymore information about it but it might hit bookstores if I get a publisher.

[editline]24th July 2011[/editline] well it's similar.
reading a collection of lovecraft stories right now. it's called Bloodcurdling tales of Horror and the Macabre [editline]25th July 2011[/editline] It's got The Call of Cthulhu, The Dunwich horror, The colour out of Space, and the Shadow over Innsmouth and a bunch of others.
Isn't that the plot to the movie adaptation of The Naked Lunch? [editline]24th July 2011[/editline] well it's similar.
In Naked Lunch, he takes rat poison, in what I am writing the character takes insect poison with a lot of other stuff mixed in with it and takes a few other dangerous drugs as well damaging his brain to the point where he is stuck in a dream sort of state and he will be in a dreaming next thing he knows he will jolt awake in an alleyway only to find out that he is still dreaming and jumping from dream to dream, then to real life, etc to the point of insanity and not knowing where he could be in the real world. I didn't really explain it well in that post and didn't really explain it well in this post either, but I can tell you that they are totally different.
My new copy of The Diamond Age arrived today, no internet for me tonight! :D
Finished Dracula and am now reading this:
Picked it up in my local tesco at the weekend, About 3rd way through it, somewhere near page 300, brilliant book, watched the show and had to get the book. It's cool how close the show is to the book, only thing that annoyed me is the ages of the characters, Jon is like 15 in the book.
I finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and now I'm reading this: This Narnia book wasn't what I expected but is not bad.
Got myself World War Z. Can't wait to read it.
This thread has inspired me to finish up my Lovecraft book and actually read Metro 2033. Who knows, maybe I'll actually end up doing so
Finally got this in the mail this morning.
I'm a fan of Trudi Canavan and Raymond Feist. At the moment I'm reading an unknown who just realeased a new book.
finished darkly dreaming dexter. good book. the show follows it well for about half way, then goes off on another different, but still similar tangent. probably enjoyed the book more than the first season of the show. so much so, i ordered the rest of them i can tell the books are going to much darker than the show.
Finally got this in the mail this morning.
that reminds me, I inherited a copy of from my great uncle, along with some booklets titled 'Compass for the victory of the revolutionary people of all countries', 'Statement of the government of the people's republic of China' (may 24, 1969), 'LENINISM or Social-imperialism?- In commemoration of the centenary of the birth of the great lenin' and 'China's great revolution and the soviet union's great tragedy'. I had no idea he was into this sort of stuff.
Currently reading and So far, The Last Wish is really good. Have yet to start reading Blood of Elves, but I will get there. Also waiting for the rest of the series to be released in English. The games are great, and made me want to read all that happened to Geralt. It's really interesting.
