Just finished The Forever War. It's a wonderful book. Tells the story about a soldier fighting in an interstellar war, and the events between battles. The book also takes time dilation into account, which gives rise to many interesting things when he returns to Earth.
Many also say it's a reflection over the Vietnam war, but with some SF slapped on top of it.
You should read the book Use of Weapons, by Iain M Banks.
I'm not done, but I enjoyed Tom Sawyer a lot more than Huckleberry Finn.
Just finished The Forever War.
I have that trilogy, but I'm too dumb to get into it.
Just finished the first of the Foundation series, super good. Love political science fiction for some reason.

and just started Guns, Germs, and Steel

I tried my best to get into Foundation, but I just couldn't do it. I couldn't keep up with events and I just didn't find myself interested in anything that happened. On the other hand, I read Ender's Game and that is probably my favorite book of all time.

This is actually a really neat book, especially if you're interested in the American Civil War.
Got a Kindle for Christmas, reading this right now:

Enjoying it so far.

Well, Ender's Game is really not comparable to Foundation at all, the other books in the Ender Series and especially the Bean Series relate a lot better; they are a lot more about political stuff. The Dune series also. Man I'm so glad there are so many good series.
foundation is good, and so is foundation and empire (maybe better? definitely more coherent as a novel, whereas foundation at times felt like just a string of events)
i have second foundation but i haven't started it yet
Finished Zombie Spaceship Wasteland by Patton Oswalt. Loved it since we seem to have the same sort of attitude towards the world.
Reading Moby Dick now.
[editline]31st December 2011[/editline]
oh I also finished the machine of death too
Got a kindle for christmas, I knew it would be cheaper than buying physical books but fuck.
Adventures of sherlock holmes was free and got all 6 volumes of Edward Gibbon's History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire for 70p.
All 5 volumes of the Cambridge Medieval History costs £4 too.

I like how the no.1 book on the top 100 list is a karma sutra book.
Also it looks like most of these books are ones that are no longer covered by any copyright laws thus they can be distributed for free, same as the free list on amazon.

Well decline and fall of the roman empire is free there.
I could have saved you 70p!

Had to read that for a class, but it was pretty cool. It's nuts to think of history as a science.

Just finished reading this. Really great book, only knack with it was [sp]how Mrs. Kinnian kept dry-humping Charlie throughout the book[/sp] Highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Just finished Hyperion and it is one of the best SF books I've ever read.
I would recommend it for anyone with the slightest taste for SF.

Started on Against a Dark Background, loving the universe and the characters so far, Banks humour never fails to amuse.

Banks is by far my favourite author, and I loved Against A Dark Background. The thing that I really loved was the setting for it. I especially loved how Golter [SP]is an extragalactic planet[/sp] which is why it's politics and universe are so fucked up.
I'm too lazy to post a picture, but "Sarah's Key" is a fantastic book.
I need a good series of books to read. Something fantasy-ish maybe but not too over the top.

Got a Kindle for christmas and I'm juggling time between these:
That last one sounds boring
it really isn't
Currently reading "A History of Western Philosophy" by Bertrand Russell.
Good fucking book
I do must suggest, The Hunger Game, trilogy.
Never thought I'd see a Yudkowsky book on Facepunch.
It's probably not boring. I'm staying away though because CULT CULT CULT.
Warhammer 40k books, which should I read first?
I know nothing of the universe, only the types of species, like Space Marines, Necrons, Tyranids, etc.
I tried reading Ravenor: The Omnibus and was like what the fuck is going on?
Good fucking book
There are a lot of criticisms with the book, such as "it's too opinionated". I still find it to be a good read even if that is true.
