Has anyone here read this? It's brilliant.

It's a light read, and I've heard lots of good things about it.
anyone have any decent Sci-Fi recommendations along the lines of Vinge, Banks, Hamliton, or Reynolds?
? Specifically Iain M Banks, he's my favourite.
Reading Stranger in a Strange Land- really liking the character development. It's about The Man from Mars, who was born on mars in martian civilization to be pulled back onto Earth, showing significant cultural differences and lacking of understanding between the two societies. Since I've never posted here before I'd like to throw in that my favorite books are Mote in God's Eye Island Brave New World I've really loved much of Niven's work for the science, and just started reading some Vonnegut and Heinlein stories. I've also read much of Verne and Wells' work (20k Leagues Under the Sea and War of the Worlds were surprisingly amazing), as well as loads of Bradbury (one of the authors I most disagree with, but I absolutely adore his delicious writing style) and Crichton.
We have to read books for school, but seeing as I have the attention span of a newborn newt, I'm having a really hard time reading :v: Chose Metro 2033, played the game before, so I decided to try reading the book as well.
My Kindle has arrived! It's hella sweet!
I'm reading Dogs of Riga by Henning Mankell at the moment, big fan of the Wallander TV show so I wanted to start reading the books.
Regarding PDF files conversion to Kindle friendly files, is there some way to convert a PDF with tables to some kindle format and keep the tables? Or atleast, not fuck up too much?
Probably not. You'll probably just have to read the pdf. [editline]19th January 2012[/editline] probably
Currently reading: I would recommend any book by Paul J Mcauley, especially Fairyland.

Currently in the middle of The Desert Spear by Peter V. Brett, it's the second in a series.
Currently in the middle of The Desert Spear by Peter V. Brett, it's the second in a series.
I read The Painted Man and The Desert Spear twice over. I read them once each a couple months back. I recently lent them both to a friend of mine, and when my friend became obsessed and spoke about it all over again, it made me crave reading it again, so I did! It's so much better the second time. Can't wait for The Daytime Wars or the third book, it's brilliant! Jardir <3
Last book I read was Lolita. It was great. I recommend it to everybody. I also read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland recently; Also good. I don't read very many books.
Started Snuff by Chuck Palhunik, or something like that. I've never read a book about a porno gone wrong from the perspective of multiple characters.
If you like cool Psychological Thrillers, this is for you.
Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy series and discworld series are good.
Seconding both Tau Zero and Coyote. Brofist!
I have a Kobo touch, and it is very comfortable to hold, and strains my eyes less than a paper book. On the kindle front, I hear the touchsreen one is really sluggish turning pages and such.
sluggish is too kind a word

Basically Game of Thrones in space with an extra helping of awesome. Currently #2 on my favorite book list trades some of the scope of its predecessor for much more well-developed characters and an intense plot. Excellent followup and my #1 favorite book.
I've been given to understand that there is a fine line between awesome prose and exceedingly purple prose. The Broken God was the series' peak and this is... Okay, I guess. But this prose can be cringe-inducing at times. [SP]Come the fuck on, it doesn't take 10% of the book to figure out Tamara was a simulacra built from Danlo's memories. Yeah, she just happened to fly straight into the Solid State Entity because she wanted to say howdy.[/SP] At least this one seems to have a little less holistic masturbation than the last two, and more posthuman gods. [SP]Gee, I can't wait to read the remaining 60% of the book to realize Danlo doesn't kill the Silicon God because of his vow not to kill. I totally don't know where this is headed.[/SP] Also Hanuman li Tosh was a bro.
My favorite two books ever are; The Good Earth, and How We Are Hungry. I really can't pick out why I liked The Good Earth as much as I did, it just really was an excellent read.
