[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/56/FailSafeNovel.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://images.moviepostershop.com/the-ugly-american-movie-poster-1020195624.jpg[/img_thumb]
Fail-Safe seemed like an interesting read to me, but wasn't it so closely related to Red Alert that the author sued? I'm a film guy as well, and I love Dr. Strangelove, so I figure Fail-Safe would be my kinda thing.
Probably one of my favorites.
Well, I finished Ultimate Avenger Vol 1, and I just started on Count Zero. I also picked up a book called Galactic Empires Vol. 1, with stories by Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, and a bunch of others. Anyone heard of it?
Just picked this up. I absolutely adore the film. I feel like this book may be better.
Reading this because my teacher decided I was the only one capable of reading it, and everyone in my class got different AP level books. (Currently in 10th grade) It actually seems alright so far, minus having to reread parts sometimes due to misunderstanding something, but I hear it gets boring. I think it'll be interesting either way.

Do you know if Playback is any good? It's the only Chandler work I haven't read, for obvious reasons.
I just started reading this. It's good but holy fuck, it's a long read (1100 or so pages long of capitalist philosophy). Only read it if you are into economy. Regardless of the main subject material, Rand's writing style is still great. Also read this book for school. Again, a great book with a fairly decent writing style, however the ending's pace drastically shifted from the rest of the book.
I loves books, I love all genres they come in, I love reading. There's just one problem. I am dyslexic. I'm not even going for ratings or anything, I have a really hard time getting through a book because I just legitimately cannot get through it quickly. Currently I'm reading book 1 of the Dark Elf trilogy by R.A. Salvatore. It's really quite good, whether you like the Forgotten Realms stuff (yay D&D) or not, it's still very good.
Anyone know of any good, dark cyberpunk? I've read Snow Crash, and it was a bit silly for my tastes at times, but I liked the cyberpunk theme.
I heard it's better than Kite Runner but then that's not saying much.
It's for school, everyone seems to like it but I guess I don't like books much. At least it's better than Victorian literature.
I'm reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. I haven't finished it yet, so I can't tell you much about it. I do know there's supposed to be objectivist philosophy in it. Do I agree with objectivism? Kind of, but I don't think selfishness and selflessness are mutually exclussive. There should be a middle ground where there is a healthy dose of both. Currently reading the updated "Lies My Teacher Told Me" by James Loewen which basically debunks all of the 'American Nationalism' taught by history classes. Up next is "The Wealth of Nations" by Adam Smith.
Anyone know of any good, dark cyberpunk? I've read Snow Crash, and it was a bit silly for my tastes at times, but I liked the cyberpunk theme.
William Gibson's Neuromancer pretty much invented the sub-genre. If you haven't read it already, do it.
I just finished Neuromancer. It's good but trippy as balls.
In between reading Infinite Jest I just started reading Tropic Of Cancer by Henry Miller. It's about a guy who has sex a lot. It's a pretty good book so far. It was pretty controversial for its time because there's a lot of sex in it. The narrator and protagonist is a big asshole but he's cool and has sex a lot.
Very entertaining work right here. Even if you're not particularly interested in Lincoln/American Civil War, it's just nice to see a good vampire novel again.
Reading Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. I highly reccomend it from what I've read so far (I just started). I also reccomend any of Vonnegut's novels, they are all interesting and fantastic!
Shit I really want to read Galapagos.
I love how it even opens with a sex scene
Finally got around to reading: [img_thumb]http://covers.openlibrary.org/w/id/659126-L.jpg[/img_thumb]
I dropped it when Clancy started describing random tech that had no bearing on the plot. [editline]15th March 2011[/editline] Think that was the second or third chapter.
I love how it even opens with a sex scene [img_thumb]http://www.coverbrowser.com/image/bestselling-sci-fi-fantasy-2008/229-3.jpg[/img_thumb]
Is that based on the game, or is the game based on the book?
It was great. Good writing, good story and a very interesting setting.
Just finished reading this a few days ago. Thought it was pretty good, not quite as good as Dan Abnett's Inquisition books, but still a good read. Now I'm reading this, gonna start on Dearly Devoted Dexter soon. If you liked the TV series you should definitely give this a go, it's a little different but still very good.

Hell yeah.
Reading the Splinter Cell series. It is good
[img_thumb]http://bookcoverarchive.com/images/books/1984.large.jpg[/img_thumb]
That was the last fiction I read. Currently I'm reading this:
