What the fuck. The Hunter is a great album.
Sure it's a great album, but after Crack the Skye... It just sounds so disjointed and like they didn't put that much thought or effort into it at all. It does have some great ideas and I really like what the title track has going on, but I'm just always expecting (or hoping for) bands to improve on what they've done, so after Crack the Skye that just wasn't even realistic.
Also, I would've much preferred another concept album since they're clearly good at them. I just don't like the overall direction they went with the album and I hope they change it on their next release.
pitchfork demolished king of limbs so hipsters wouldn't like it anyway

By saying shit like this you're only supporting Pitchfork's position as a "tastemaker". I read pitchfork but I don't blindly believe everything they say.
Although Th1rt3en was a meh album I wouldn't call it disappointing. Pretty sure that everyone expected it was going to be a meh album.
Other than that,The Hunter and Heritage weren't spectacular. AVD was a good album, just not as good as Cross imho.

well i definitely do which is why i was disappointed by their scathing reviews of king of limbs and biophilia.
Audio, Video, Disco is one of my biggest disappointments in a long time.

it was better than what I'd expected it to be.

YOU BASTARD
I liked King of Limbs a lot, just took a couple listens. It was an experimental album and it sounded pretty original
That King Crimson album recieved next to no hype at all. Not a great album, some may like it's soothing, non-explosive feel (i do). But I can't say it's too addictive.
It's reaaaally nothing like a crimson album
I enjoyed it actually, I think its very soothing but I was most disappointed by their sad attempt at a music video
I thought heritage was very nice too.
I would say Mylo Xoloto but I expected it to be shit, and it was only semi-decent so I was pleasantly surprised. That said, it was a very hyped album so I would name it the most disappointing as it turned out to good, but not fantastic. Not a touch on viva la vida either.

I claim king of the toy box shark!
TKOL was average for me until the basement sessions came out, then I suddenly realized how brilliant it was. I haven't really been disappointed by anything this year.
I liked Seether's older albums because they were a good post-grunge radio rock band that didn't sound like the same garbage over and over, but Holding Onto Strings Better Left to Fray was quite disappointing in that the majority of the songs sounded so similar, and the bonus tracks were probably the best part. I fear they're going down the path of Three Days Grace and I'm not liking it.
Some call it a disappointing year, but there is a crapload of new stuff that's worth checking out.
I guess people were expecting albums from the already well known artists to release a masterpiece.

Never got into it. Played it like 3 times over and still found myself just skipping to People II: Still Peoplin. No other song on the album stacks up to his older stuff.
also, I liked Heritage(opeth). It's a good album for what it was meant to be, basically a tribute to their influences.
The main fault of Heritage were the vocals. They were okay, but nothing compared to the instrumentation.
They had no emotion or intensity at all.
I don't know what you guys are talking about, I loved Heritage and the Hunter.
Disappointment of the year is definitely Lulu.
Please stop making music Metallica...
More like please go back to making music Metallica and not whatever the fuck this shit is.

I dunno if I'd call it a disappointment because I knew it was gonna suck so I wasn't really hyped up in the first place.
Lulu is an album you can't even be mad with because it exceeds the boundaries of being bad
Red Hot Chili Peppers - I'm with you was a total fail. 2 good songs on it and the rest was just drum, vocals and bass. The new guy obviously has no weight in the band and the other 3 have relegated him to a backing musician. I also saw them on tour and they really were phoning it in other than Chad Smith on drums.
Bon Iver, I just don't get what all the fuss is about.
a friend of mine went to see the chilis when they toured here last month and one of the teachers who's like 50 something came up to him saying she saw him there and she was proper raving about how awesome it was
RHCP are the kind of band where if I hear their song on the radio then I'm enjoying it but when I listen to a full album of theirs I'm completely unmoved. They're more of a "singles" band for me.

Theres a degree of truth to that depending on what era you listen to. Personally I loved what they did with Dave Navarro on One Hot Minute back in 95. Although a lot of fans didn't like it because of the funk being dropped it was a much deeper, multi layered rock album for a band like them who before that had done an album about teenage sexual adventure.

Thats the great thing about music, it's all a matter of taste.

or in this case, no taste at all, hah.
I can only hope to have the great wit of thisispain.

I tend to agree with this, but Stadium Arcadium blew me away. All the songs on that, bar a few, are beautiful.
dredg - Chuckles and Mr. Squeezy (no seriously what the fuck.)
Semi-agree on this one. I mean it's a good album, but it is pretty out-there, even for a band like dredg. All the songs alone are neat little tracks but the album itself never really goes anywhere.
I liked Opeth's new album too, but it doesn't come close to Watershed.
And the new Dream Theater album was fun, but not very memorable. It sounds like BC&SL Part 2.

oh don't take that the wrong way I enjoy it but considering how the past 4 albums went conceptually i'd expect something on par... but it turns out that wasn't the case ):
dredg as a whole equals change, hell their band logo(s) have even mean change, but really now.
