You seem butthurt that I don't find a nigh-invincible superhero the least bit interesting.
If you're going to have a comic book hero who is essentially unkillable, at least make him funny like Deadpool so he's bearable.
I agree, Superman is boring as hell. He only has one weakness besides morals, so either someone is a hostage or they use kryptonite against him, not exactly very interesting.
heres something else to think about: superman can be in only one place at a time. his super hearing lets him hear people crying out for help the world over, but he cant save all of them. he never can, and he knows it. he can solve maybe 1% of the problems in the world, but knows about 100% of them. and whenever something goes wrong, the news always says "where was superman?"
and supes doesnt falter for a second. he doesnt go all maudlin about his predicament. he keeps his chin up and he goes out there every day and every night and saves the day. when the reporters come to interview them he responds with a smile and a nice little wisecrack to make all the kids watching him on TV feel proud to dress up like him every halloween.
That's so bland I'd rather read a comic filled with nothing but blank biege pages
p.s. grant morrison's all-star superman comics are better than all batman comics combined
Yeah a nearly invincible person with no psychological problems whatsoever
Wow that leaves so much room for character development
are you even reading any of the posts ive made or are you just regurgitating the rote arguments every person who doesnt read the comics makes?
[editline]11:02PM[/editline]
besides, a character needs neither psychological problems nor mortality to be interesting.
If his only internal conflict is that he can't save every single person, and even after that he never falters, then where is the interesting part? There's hardly anything that can kill him, save for Kryptonite, or Doomsday.
If this movie pulls through, I seriously hope Doomsday is the villain. He's really the only villain even worth mentioning. Him and Lex Luthor, anyway, but Luthor's been done.
i mean that he never falters on the outside. he can be all torn up on the inside, sure.
which also adds a dimension and is perhaps superman's greatest superpower: the ability to keep a straight face though inside he is murderous with rage, ravaged with grief, etc.
batman just flips out and slaps robin around when he mentions his parents.
it was pretty bad
incorrect. BB was great you are wrong!!
I don't consider Robin to be a legitimate character, and neither does Nolan apparently.
It all depends on the version of the character. Nolan's Batman spent very little dicking around about his parent's death past the first half of Batman Begins, and no time at all in Dark Knight. There's more to Batman's internal conflicts than Mommy and Daddy getting shot.

your interpretation of the superman comics has depth
the comics themselves do not, you are adding it entirely yourself, it doesn't exist outside your mind
superman is THE most boring superhero

do not argue you know that i am right all the time even more than you are right all the time

hey whoa this could be applied to superman too!

just cause hes comparatively depth-less in the comics doesnt mean he has to be all the time! i added depth to him! hopefully the movie will do the same.
[editline]12:14AM[/editline]
besides, the way to get the most out of superman isnt the character himself, its how he interacts with others and how they react to him

Sigh, this is so ignorant I'd say you're trolling.
Go read some comics before you try arguing about them.
All-Star Superman
Superman: For All Seasons
For the Man Who Has Everything
Kingdom Come
Geoff Johns' run of Action Comics (#837 Onwards + Up, Up and Away! + New Krypton)
Superman: Birthright
Superman: Peace on Earth
Superman: Red Son
Superman: Secret Identity
Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?
What's so funny about Truth, Justice, and the American Way? (Action Comics 775)
Superman Beyond 3D
yeah son.
i mean just read a few of the alan moore superman comics. even though i hate alan moore with a fiery passion, theyll make you change your tune

Wait so you just admitted that superman has no depth, and that you had to add depth yourself?
What? That only helps our side of the argument.
i guess you have selective reading disorder. note the modifier "comparatively".
im saying that in the majority of superman comics (like from back in the day), they just used supes as a tool to fight the bad guys and have big brawls and say "i stand for Truth, Justice, and the American Way".
however such is not always the case. see the list that agent.orange posted. he knows a lot more than me about comics, and i gotta say, in those ones hes posted, yeah, the man of tomorrow's a pretty good character.
see also: justice league and justice league unlimited. namely the episodes A Better World, For the Man Who Has Everything (based on the comic of the same name), and all of season 4 (aka season 2 of JLU).

Your avatar is spider jerusalem, you are instantly right about everything in comics
i never understood the hype behind transmetropolitan. imo it looks dumb
maybe i should actually try reading it though lol
Being a huge fan of superman and i have a rediculous collection of comics mainly DC with a few marvel, generally ign did a good write up of how to fix the superman franchise and thats pretty much how i felt about it since returns ( which was very mediocre ).
Hell i'd love to see a rebooted superman that is done properly the thing about superman is he's got the potential to have a superb movie if done right problem is he's never been given the proper limelight in his films as he should have they really need to push in a movie and truly show what he is capable of and show his struggles and strengths as the so called greatest super-hero.
Personally imo bringing in a villain like darkseid would work well in the right context and actually make luthor as he bloody should be!
Problem is DC = good, WB = retards imo
*rant*Also im sick of the whole pop culture of Hurr Durr batman ownz all yet they clearly know little outside the movies of him *rant*
For darkseid reference the cartoons did it really well for example

Maybe if you actually read some you could have a realistic and credible opinion.
As it stands you're just mindlessly spurting out the same thing over and over.
