It really seems that many American's don't actually understand the political process, and that on the domestic front the President is incredibly weak, it's congress who you should take domestic concerns to not the president.

It seems like people's general opinion of Obama changes on a day to day basis.

I think a lot of it has to do with this ridiculous notion that Obama holds all the power, as others have pointed out. The country does poorly, therefore, Obama is doing poorly as president. Which is a really, really stupid thing to believe.

Facepunch isn't exempt from this either. A few weeks ago there was a thread in Sensationalist Headlines about Obama's overall disapproval rating and it got 100+ winners. Maybe its just the people who frequent that particular section, but holy flip-floppiness.
