The m16 is a vietnam era rifle with a 3 round burst and semi-auto functions.
The m4-a1 carbine features semi automatic mode and automatic mode.
Carbine =/= rifle btw

and yet they both are extremely similar.

and yet you continue to spout dumbness.
So, I might plan on attending an open session of airsoft at special forces paintball, it will be a Minnesota Airsoft Association sancitioned event, and it would be my first major airsoft event. Technically, these games are pretty low-key. Now, I do not have any gear (Vests, BDUs, Boots, etc.) and up until now have only been playing on my friends private land. What are the bare minimums I will need to be playing at this place?
Link to the MAA event forums http://forum.mnairsoft.org/viewforum.php?f=4&sid=77e6c33f952800b00c97a723b4ef8caf
Keep in mind I already have a mask and a gun to play with.
Any help would be appreciated.
Good boots (they don't have to be combat but they need to support your ankles), some way to carry water, BBs, mags, etc. Essentially that is the bare minimum, but I recommend some BDUs and a vest; make sure you research and try on vests before you get one, I made the mistake of getting one that I don't really like all that much.

The M-16 has a 20 inch barrel and a hard plastic stock.
The M-4 has(military version) has a 14.5 inch barrel and a hard plastic 6 position collapsible stock.
The M-16 tends to be more accurate at long range than the M-4.
The M-16 tends to be more reliable due to the longer barrel allowing more gas pressure to cycle the bolt a bit more reliably.
The M-4 is easier to handle in confined spaces due to the shorter barrel.
They are both part of the AR-15 family, shoot the same round, and have the same action.
They are very similar.

Similar yet not extremely similar.
Anyway we are derailing the thread with our pointless argument.

Good idea.
The rest of the gun should be mostly intact.

The M16A1 and the M4A1 are veeeerrrrry different. The M4 is a carbine version of the M16A4, which is pretty far from the A1 that you posted.
I shall re-rail thread. Should I get this? Click me please, pretty please (Hoping you get the obvious sarcasm)

Timebomb has a new rival in town.
I didn't have a spork laying around so I used a Moroccan knife my sister got in Spain.
Oh and sorry for myspace style pic, didn't have anyone around to take picture.
Not Dr Peppery enough.
I started a new trend because my Dr. Pepper pants were at the dry cleaners.

It's too simple to rival Timebomb's Dr. Pepper pictures. It's about special weapons with awesome attachments and the Dr. Pepper shorts.
It was for shits-n-giggles but apparently no giggles were had.
It's okay, I still recognize Timebomb as top dog.
DR PEPPERBOMB WILL DEVOUR YOUR ARMALITES
