[QUOTE=st0rmforce;22550514]I know I'm a bit late, but I'd like to point out another thing about two-tones in the UK.
The place where I play (and a lot of other sites ) will ban you if you if they catch you with a painted-over two tone.
They don't mind two-tones but they don't take kindly to people ignoring the UKARA, which is the only thing keeping them in business.
If you don't like a bright green gun, wait and get membership or wrap it up with something.
A buddy of mine said "god I hate UKARA"
I told him, "No, UKARA is your friend, VCRA is your knee-jerk badly-thought-out Daily-Mail-reading enemy."
"Eh?"
"The Violent Crimes Reduction Act says 'airsoft guns are realistic imitations and are therefore violent' BAN BAN BAN. UKARA says 'we use them to play a game, please let us play' VCRA says 'meh, ok, just so long as you promise not to rob banks with them'"
And then people go around buying two-tones and painting them, basically sticking up two fingers to UKARA.
What they should be doing is getting membership, buying guns and playing without breaking any laws, basically sticking up two fingers to the VCRA.[/QUOTE]
Kind of...makes me thankful for living in California, even though our gun laws are shit too.
Right I've just gotten a PEQ box for my masada but I've got a problem, the connecters for the battery (mini type) wont fit through the gaps in the hand guard so should I:-
A: Cut the connecter off feed the wires through the gap in the hand guard and replace the connecter.
B: File down the gap to make it large enough to fit the connector through.
C: (Your suggestion goes here)
The reason I'm doing this is that getting the handguard off to replace the battery when the BB's are flying is a pain in the arse and having the battery mounted in a PEQ would make the process much quicker and easier.
You've run into a very similar issue to what I'm having right now.
I'm opting for widening the gaps in my handguard to feed the connect through it. I rather not undo the connectors everytime I feel like switching the gun up a bit.
It's official. The Department Homeland Defense -Address Omitted- Effective date June 12th 2010 has hereby purposed special trust and confidence in the demonstrative potential of it's Armed Forces. As a result the following approval of the 'Requisition of new Standard Infantry Rifle' has been put through the chair.
TL;DR:
I'm going to get a new Airsoft gun. Choosing one is going to rack my mind constantly now. I need a field rifle, I'm torn between a Classic Army M15 (The newer ones) and a ARES Tavor. I could also get something else.
FFF I hate choosing.
[editline]03:58PM[/editline]
Especially when the decision costs over $500 and could be terrible for all you know.
[editline]04:15PM[/editline]
Or a G&G Combat Machine M4.
Ohhh the choices..
Classic armies are good out of the box, the Tavor has a lackluster sight and laser but getting around that it's a good and unique choice. The M15 will have more parts and attachments to make it your own because it's MUCH more common, with the Tavor you can really only put new sights on it. Not to mention it's got some weird proprietary gearbox so it sucks trying to upgrade it.
Yeah I know how bad those decisions can be. Best thing to do is make a list of pros and cons.
M15
+ Lots of external upgrade potential
+ Easy to find parts
+ Customizable
+ Full Metal
- Some internal parts may be questionable to some
- Some external parts made of cheap pot metal (ABS series charging handle)
Tavor
+ Lightweight, great plastic
+ Bullpup, longer inner barrel, shorter overall length
+ Balanced
+ Unique
- Not as customizable, lack of upgrade parts
- Included Red dot isn't very bright, nor is the laser
Tough choicessss
Thanks for the tips, they'll help.
[editline]04:37PM[/editline]
Leaning toward getting another M15, it's more sound then a Tavor. Just need to find one for field play, decent FPS and range.
[editline]04:38PM[/editline]
Those are the only choices I'm really good with though, I don't want to buy new magazines or throw my loadout off too much.
For the sake of keeping your loadout authentic, the M15 would probably be the better choice.
I already have a M15, it's not working at the moment but I'm confident I can fix it, if not I can get it fixed by ASGI. But sadly, the range and FPS is still stock and not all that great.
I could upgrade it, which would probably be a better choice. It's racking my brain already.
Get something besides an M15 for a change, especially if you already have an M15.
You should probably either buy a totally different gun (Tavor, G36c/k/full length, SCAR, etc) or upgrade your current one.
Well in that case get the Tavor, or get a cheaper but still unique gun that uses M4 mags and spend the rest of the money to repair/upgrade the M15.
Is all the tacticool gear needed to play on airsoft fields? or could i just play in my normal t-shirts and jeans?
Could my bare minimum just be a chest rig to hold extra mags?
also where find airsoft fields in Tampa bay area of Florida?
Chest rig should be fine. If you go in just a T and jeans they'll instantly assume you're a newbie and more then likely talk down to you.
I [B]am[/B] a newbie. What's a good starter AEG that isn't an AR-15 style rifle? This seems like a really kickass hobby, I want to get more into it.
Well, I started off with a UTG, it wasn't terrible, wasn't good either but anymore UTG is a very obscure brand from what I can tell.
Echo 1 and JG dominate the entry level airsoft gun market. CYMA make decent AK's from what I understand.
Echo 1 repackages JG, or that's the rumor I've heard alot of so just go straight for JG I assume.
What are you looking for, you don't want an M4, but what -do- you want? G36 family, AK, Mp5 etc?
Also, as for a chest rig. Go with -anything- except a Crossdraw vest. Crossdraws are cheap and do the basics but they look stupid and you'll be instantly picked out of a crowd and stoned to death.
[editline]10:42PM[/editline]
Depends on a budget too. Decent entry level guns are anywhere from 120-250 bucks. Tokyo Marui are good and will last you but they cost a bit more (I also haven't seen any in stock anywhere.
[url]http://www.airsoftgi.com/[/url] is a good site, they're pretty cheap and won't try to rip you off or lie through their teeth.
[editline]10:43PM[/editline]
Also, question to the room. What happen to Tokyo Marui? All their guns everywhere I look are out of stock. Did they go out of business or something? I don't see any new guns either, so I don't know, maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places.
Personally, i prefer bullpups but from what I understand, these are hard to find and usually expensive. I do like m14s, most HK, and AKs.
Well, the first thing that comes to mind is a AUG. What's your price range?
[B]EDIT:
[/B]$200 dollars or under, i guess, bit strapped for cash at the moment.
Well, JG sells two variants of the AUG, one with a scope and one without. $140 and $175 respectively and they seem to be fairly decent, but they're sold out at the moment on ASGI.

For $220 you can get a full metal AUG.

Again sold out on ASGI.
To advise you, I'm -fairly- new myself so everything I tell you I've heard over the years but myself haven't been exposed too first hand so wait for some of the more experienced people here to okay anything I suggest.
You been a helluva lot of help bro. thanks a lot
Like I said, before you do anything it may be a good idea to consult someone with a bit more experience in the AEG business. I've only recently taken apart my AEG and learned how they internally work. I have no experience with JG, Echo, G&G, well, anything really except CA, TM and UTG.

^This
Plus the Army L85:

There are several more models of bullpup that are quite good if you are willing to spend more. There are also clone P90s, but I don't recommend any of them. Also be careful with clone AUG foregrips, they tend to break off if handled too roughly.
Overall, I really am not a huge fan of bullpups, but I really did like the JG military AUG for the short time I toyed around with one (IE: 5 minutes of use after pulling it off of a dead comrade) The range is excellent for a clone, as is the built in optic. I would imagine the accuracy would be quite good with high quality ammo as well.
Holy shit, a L85 under 200 bucks?
[editline]11:07PM[/editline]
Everything I know is a lie.
Hmm... How about a decent mp5 or variant? I'm a small guy, might be better for me and thanks timebomb for the warning about the p90s

Its not half bad either, with a little internal work they are rock solid guns.

I generally try to steer people away from using SMGs as a primary unless you know you are going to be in CQC consistantly. Mainly because they have small mags and shorter ranges.
Im a scrawny little guy too, its really not that hard to handle a larger AEG. The main issue is weight. But a few push ups/ gun lifts can fix that surprisingly fast :v:
The above.

Im a 123 pound 5'6 18 year old, and I carry around a SAW and an M79. You'll be able to handle an AUG or L85, don't worry :v:
That's very true. What's a decent chest rig that'll fit me? What do you use?
