Attention newbies, this is the Official "is this a good idea?" thread

i'm new, and want to get into airsoft, but my budget is kind of low (20-50 USD). Also, is there fields where airsoft is "played" or is it something you strictly do with friends because my friends don't do airsoft. The gun doesn't have to be amazing, it just has to be pretty durable and not break in some form if I accidentally let it fall.

You're not gonna get anywhere near a decent gun for $50, and yes there are airsoft fields.

Basically like the other guy, you can NOT get a good gun for even $50. Maybe a spring pistol.
I think AEG's are the most used guns, and are some of the best.
AEG meaning Automatic Electric Gun. It uses battery to shoot(rechargable) and is automatic. They are usually in the range of $170 - $4000(REALLY high end ones)
I have an Echo 1 G36c(http://www.airsoftstation.com/echo-1-g36c-electric-airsoft-rifle-version-3-aeg.html (I got it for $180 NOT $200. I dunno if that site is good at all)) and it works great for me.
Or you can go for a CO2 pistol, which wouldn't do you much good. I got mine for about $70. They take small CO2 cartridges and are semi-automatic.
And to your question about the fields, yes, people play airsoft on fields. Fields often share paintball and airsoft games(not at the same time) or fields specially for airsoft.
But ask other people too because I am not the most educated in airsoft
Chantz: Airsoft GI has a nice 10% coupon for any orders you make. Meaning that you can get a nice gun for less.
An example is that the JG M4CQBR is $155. With that coupon, it's only $15.50. If you need help, ask me or anyone else.
You mean it's only $140. But yeah -10% + shipping, tax, and handling is like free shipping, tax, and handling.
Only good gun I can recommend for around $50 would be a DE M3 tri shot shotgun. Cheap but highly effective if used correctly. It does take some arm strength to pull that pump back, seems like the majority of my friends have problems pumping mine for the first time (grant it they don't play airsoft either).

Later on you can get a 6 pack of shells for around $13 or so.

This is probably the cheapest gun you can get that won't kill itself after 2 hours.

For your sake, get this. Don't cheap out on airsoft, it won't get you anywhere.

Voila. Noob loadout. Wear jeans and a black t-shirt. Stick the spare mag in your pocket. Buy the BBs at wherever you're going or get them from ASGI.
Actually you should get a vest with that just because you cant carry much mags with 4 pockets.
At 600 BBs a mag I don't think just having 2 mags will be a problem. I only use 2, at 300 each, and that's plenty even for a game with respawns.
At larger games with bad players 2 hicaps ain't enough. I've played games where I've walked on to the field with 6 fully loaded M4 hicaps (1800 rounds) and come back with no ammo left in an hour long game. It all depends on the game, the people, and the field.
i remember one of the Eastern Wovles came to the game with like 10 hicaps and fielded them all.
I'm sorry but any gun under $100 will stop working after a few days. I would really suggest you either save up money and get a nice AEG(being cheap with a gun will simply waste your money. Sure it will only be $40 or $50 but then after a week of target practice or one game it will break and it will end up being a waste of money) or get a pump shotgun. Spring ones(dunno if they make any other kind) are usually cheap(got mine for about $60) and works well.

AEG's under 100 break in a few days. Shotguns 50-100$ Work fine.
Summarizing my post? lol?

ive heard good things about this gun.
Listen to us, man. LPEGs are shit. Don't buy them. Go to Airsoft GI, place an order for a JG/E1 (Echo 1) M4 or AK, get some mags for it (midcap), get some .2g BBs (Airsoft Elite brand), and before you checkout, there's a code you can enter to get 10% off on your order. ASGI has a toolbar on their site, just click 'Airsoft GI Promo' and scroll to the bottom and you'll see a coupon code you can enter. Wait a few days and you'll get your nice AEG plus the necessities for only $20-$40. A BDU isn't really needed when you're new, but do get goggles with that order. Maybe a chest rig or vest too. Then, once you get more money, get a hydration carrier. It's basically a big water bottle (bladder) that fits in a backpack and you can suck the water through a tube that comes up over your shoulder.
Just take our advice.
I don't think double eagles is a good brand. And that is way too cheap for an aeg. I'm telling you, you cheap out and you will regret it.
I was thinking it was an LPEG, but my emphasis was on cheap. I'm just using the cheap gun as a gateway to airsofting. I don't have much money right now and want to get into airsoft as soon as possible. After I get into it and find it like it, I will spend a good deal of money on a high quality gun.

You won't like it if you use a shitty gun.

Airsoft is NOT a sport/hobby to cheap out on. If you absolutely HAVE to get a gun now, then get a tri-shot shotgun from airsoftgi. But please don't make the mistake of buying a really cheap AEG.

Enter it when you make the order.
ender is my hero.
also, all the american rifles cost alot :crying:
M4's and M16's are normally the cheapest. Go look at the more unique looking weapons, they're a lot more expensive.
