They can legally search your car purely out of suspicion? Fucking lol, America.
You're an idiot. Sorry fag's forgot this was Grammar Nazi central. (User was banned for this post ("Flaming." - ventilated))
They can legally search your car purely out of suspicion? Fucking lol, America.
The school only can because the car was on their property and the student had to sign something at the start of the year. If he walked to school or parked somewhere other than the school's lot I don't think they could have. But yeah, fucking lol American school system.
Look on the bright side, you're a Senior, you'll be out of the system in a few months.
They can legally search your car purely out of suspicion? Fucking lol, America.
Yeah, it's under the "Reasonable Suspicion" rule. But it's fucking retarded. Anyone can say, "I saw so and so doing this or that. We need to search all of their property."
Your an idiot.
Thank you. I like being called an idiot just purely out of disagreement. Feels good man.
Your an idiot.
Now dont get mad you live in a shit place
Can't they count the pills? If the caller says that 'I've seen <Your Name> handing out LOADS of pills to kids at study hall' tell them to look at how many pills were in the bottle, then read the label.
It's the fact that I even had the aspirin that got me in trouble. Not the accusations alone.
They can legally search your car purely out of suspicion? Fucking lol, America.
Police can, with due cause. But this wasn't the police, and the fact they got told that someone that looked like him was supposedly handing out pills in a park isn't due cause either.
Wouldn't it have to be a certain amount to be considered trafficking? I don't think a bottle of aspirin missing three pills could be considered it.
it isn't that it is letting kids carry the pill bottles or pills around school, hell can you tell the difference from lsd or a aspirin from a glance? and you can get high off certain drugs like my state recently enacted a law saying you need to be over 18 to buy cough meds
That is fucking stupid OP! Your school is obviously shit. I went to school in freshman year DRUNK, I was caught (being drunk...didn't have any more drinks or anything on me....I was just drunk), and only suspended for 5 DAYS! NOTHING ELSE! NO POLICE INVOLVEMENT OF ANY KIND! NOTHING! JUST A 5 DAY SUSPENSION. What can you do though, OP? Enjoy your vacation.
It's the fact that I even had the aspirin that got me in trouble. Not the accusations alone.
Why'd you let them search you tool
They can legally search your car purely out of suspicion? Fucking lol, America.
If you are a student on school grounds yes otherwise no
Your an idiot.
the irony, she is delicious
The school only can because the car was on their property and the student had to sign something at the start of the year. Even as a student you do have a right to not accept searches unless a police officer has permission to do.
Your an idiot.
You're :eng101:
Don't like US public schools? tell your parents to go to the TPA and vote on the rules. or go to a private school/homeschool
Haha we get to keep painkillers.
Even as a student you do have a right to not accept searches unless a police officer has permission to do.
No, they can under the "Reasonable Suspicion" Clause. This was ruled by the supreme court.
Kind of an interesting story on the injustice that is going on in schools all across the nation. This just happened to me today. Let this go as a warning to all you high schoolers so this doesn't happen to you. So today started off just like any other day, but in 4th period I get sent down to the office. No clue as to why. They said someone had called the Silent Witness hotline for our school and reported that I had been seen "handing out pills at the local park." So they just had to follow procedure and search all my belongings including my vehicle that I drive to school. They didn't find anything in my backpack and pockets but when they searched my car, they found a bottle of aspirin. Alright this asperin was tucked away deep under lots of crap in my glovebox. I forgot I even had the stuff. The bottle was full minus the 2 or 3 I had for my headache. Over the summer I drove to Colorado which is well over a 13 hour drive from where I live, and I drove it straight through without cruise control. When I arrived I had a massive headache so I went out and got some aspirin. I just put it away in my car and forgot about it. I now have a 10 day suspension. Yep, 10 days. For aspirin. In my car. I'm a senior and I've attended all 4 years at this school and this is my first disciplinary action. I've never even been tardy for a class. This really makes me lose faith in humanity. Something really needs to change with this system.
Did they go over the policy with the students and warn you exactly what you could get in trouble for? If not, they're the ones who fucked up and you should talk to somebody. Not only did you not really do anything wrong, now you've got a shitload of makeup work to do. They fucked up.
You're an idiot. Sorry fag's forgot this was Grammar Nazi central.
You still got it wrong. Plural without apostrophe...
No, they can under the "Reasonable Suspicion" Clause. This was ruled by the supreme court.

However, reasonable suspicion may not apply merely because a person refuses to answer questions, declines to allow a voluntary search, or is of a suspected race or ethnicity.
Not to mention, this is only police officers. If you deny a search you can get suspended but it is not legal to be arrested.
Police can, with due cause. But this wasn't the police, and the fact they got told that someone that looked like him was supposedly handing out pills in a park isn't due cause either.
In my school any faculty member can without any cause.
Yeah, this is a big nation wide safety thing that is all throughout American schools. I personally find it to be bullshit, but you know how it is. For some reason anyone who works at a school has some kind of big-headedness about themselves because they oversee a bunch of teenagers and feel like they have power.
It's probably more the fear of being sued or dragged through the dirt for a scandal like "kid deals, teachers do nothing" and all that stuff.
If it is a frisk then the officer can only frisk the suspected area, meaning if someone said "I saw him put pills in his jacket" then he is legally only allowed to check his jacket. [editline]01:50PM[/editline]
In my school any faculty member can without any cause.
It's completely legal to deny it however.
Not to mention, this is only police officers. If you deny a search you can get suspended but it is not legal to be arrested.
Wow, that is pretty interesting. We've had multiple kids in my school get stripped searched by school coaches/administrators for having on them, "Suspected Drugs."
If it is a frisk then the officer can only frisk the suspected area, meaning if someone said "I saw him put pills in his jacket" then he is legally only allowed to check his jacket.
But a cop didn't search his car, the school did. And students basically sign their rights away when they enter a public school.
wah wah this is bullshit
Someone sneezes, someone else loses their faith in humanity.
But a cop didn't search his car, the school did. And students basically sign their rights away when they enter a public school.
Nuhuh. There is no such thing as signing rights away. Remember I'm talking purely legal. You can get apprehended by the school administration, but you cannot get into trouble with the law. And the school is not allowed to search his car if he doesn't allow it. [editline]01:53PM[/editline]
Wow, that is pretty interesting.
