• Are wormholes really possible?

General relativity allows connecting two different points in spacetime by a wormhole. So it's at least not forbidden. Maybe an underlying theory (Quantum Gravity, String "theory" or whatever hypothesis will in future describe gravity on quantum basis) will lead to a "no" but for now, it's not impossible. This still does not answer "how" we could create some. But that's just a technical limitation.
Actually, i have heard that if you travel at light speed in space for 1 weeks, and come back on earth, it would be 6 years later. It's a theory though.
Yeah and I heard if you travel a half hour away from earth and then come back you would be 150 years in the future. So much for those theories.
You heard wrong. You do however age faster the 'higher' up you are due to spacetime and the earth's gravitational effect. For example, If you get on a plane, you will age a few nanoseconds (possibly picoseconds, I can't remember) faster than if you were still on the ground.

The faster one travels the more time, relative to what we would consider real-time, does indeed slow down. Now I can't give you an exact figure, and I find it hard to believe that anything containing a human being will ever approach the speed of light, simply because it's not worth it, but essentially at speed things such as chemical reactions, the aging process, even our awareness as to the passage of time, take slightly longer to occur. Even still, as you said the effect is negligible at anything but near light speed.
Black Hole are still just theory, since we can't see them, along with Dark Matter and all that stuff. Now Worms hole, QUICK! To the theoretical and Quantum physics room!
Yes my brother, we must do it for SCIENCE!!! :science: [editline]11:54AM[/editline]
It's possible, however finding a worm hole (theres none in our galaxy) would require hundreds of years of travel.
None that we know of... :science:

It all works by magic!
It works like that.
See, wormholes are only possible if the universe is 'saddle-shaped' otherwise it probably won't work.
See, wormholes are only possible if the universe is 'saddle-shaped' otherwise it probably won't work.
I don't think the regular shape of the universe has much to do with if it's possible to make a wormhole. You should be able to stretch a hole between any two points in the fabric. The biggest problem is that region of space in the middle with negative energy. Perhaps if dark energy were scientifically verified and then harnessed.
It works like that.
That's one theory, there is multiple others.
See, wormholes are only possible if the universe is 'saddle-shaped' otherwise it probably won't work.
It's just shaped like that because it would be impossible to draw it in 3d space. In an easily readable manner, anyway.
One word. THEORY
What's your point? Damn, people think they're so god damn intelligent when they point out the fact that evolution/gravity/relativity are theories. Like that means that nobody should be discussing them, or that their acknowledgment of that fact makes them 5 billion times smarter than everyone who ever mentions it. Jesus.

Cool.
One word. THEORY
And? Gravity is a theory too...
According to Michio Kaku, we would first have to harness the power of a star before anything like that is possible.(That is, us creating wormholes) [editline]07:22PM[/editline]
I bet you think time travel is possible. :tinfoil:
It is, just not yet. And before people say "Then why haven't we seen people from the future," consider that it could create multiple time-lines.
Theory of gravity is a pretty good conversational piece, too. What do you guys think? The best explanation I've heard is the higgs boson they're looking to find with the Lhc.
And? Gravity is a theory too...
Gravity is a law.
As well as a theory. The law is known as the law of universal gravitation.
Gravity is a law.
It's both. Law of gravitation explains what happens. (Shit clumps together) Theory of gravity explains why it happens. (Some particle shit) [editline]08:31PM[/editline] Also, wormholes are impossible. Scientists are just fucking with us. :colbert:
Only time will tell people

what would happen if a black hole got closer to another black hole? we don't know! so scientists don't have much proof that black hole don't spit anything els out anywhere health but maybe it could go to another dimnsion. maybe.
what would happen if a black hole got closer to another black hole?
They act like any other object in space. They could for example start having some kind of orbits around each other etc. If they were to collide there would just be one black hole then. With the mass of the both black holes of course. I think the collision isn't as clean as I'm making it seem like though. I remember reading about gravitational waves that would happen from a collision like that.
we don't know! so scientists don't have much proof that black hole don't spit anything els out anywhere health but maybe it could go to another dimnsion. maybe.
What?
Was there TIME before the big bang? I thought there wasn't.
There was
There was
You seem quite sure, would you mind expanding on that?
Of course they are real.I took a picture of one with my phone below
