[CONTROVERSY] Why do you listen to things like dubstep/techno-remixes/unf-unf-unf musics?
No, not really. I do have a strong opinion about music. But, I understand people like what they like.
I just get the feeling from this stuff, that music meant for dancing and rhythm in clubs being listened to casually at home while playing League of Legends is just weird.
but that's the best way to play LoL!
I'm pretty sure this has been played at a club or two
would it be weird to listen to this at home

Really, you're just being an ass. Most people here get what I mean by "Club/Dance-Mix" when I say that. You're just trying as hard as you can to be a stubborn smart ass when in reality you're just looking like an idiot.
Because we have this kind of thing all the time and most people don't take the answer of different preferences for music seriously because because they can't imagine that anyone likes different music to what they like.
If you want me to articulate why I like it, I'll try. I listen to music while doing other things so I'm often not paying close attention to it. This means that there is a low ceiling for complexity before I don't notice it. Electronic music makes good ambience and is often more relaxed than metal or anything in similar genres. I also prefer the laid back feeling from it as I find the extreme anger of Metal and Punk annoying.
Other types of Electronic music are more complex than your standard Trance or a shitty club track but really, if you want to whine about electronic music being repetitive, you haven't been listening to other music very closely. It's all repetitive to a degree, that's how music is. You can play the same piece of music on a guitar as on a synthesiser and you would still complain about the synth being repetitive.

Could very well be. I must be missing out.

this is exactly what I was wondering. Thanks.
Also, this was good too, from my /mu/ thread.
A helpful analogy is that you can listen to music horizontally (where the enjoyment comes from following the development or narrative of the track) or vertically (where the enjoyment comes from appreciating different ways that the simultaneous layers of the track overlap and interact). A lot of repetitive electronic music is very vertical as opposed to horizontal music.
ok so
I post deadmau5 and you imply that he:
isn't dance music
hasn't been played in a club
and on top of all that, that he isn't electro
now who's being the stubborn one
You're ignoring context and example. You're being the stubborn one that cannot get past vague descriptions of "techno" "club" "dance" "remix".
I posted an electro song and you posted an electro mix
what's the difference honestly
Think OP is just trying to say why do people listen to shitty electronic music  What else could you possibly mean?
plenty, apparently. I have my answers. I do not need to argue with you anymore.

I dunno if I'd say it so boldly, but...
That vertical/horizontal listening is actually a really good analogy.

Well you pretty much are, when you said you can listen to electronic music with substance, then you pretty much were to referring to shitty electronic music.

"I don't like what this dude is saying, he must be one of those internet trolls I've heard so much of."
No, seriously, we have this thread all the time and it always goes the same.
[editline]18th December 2010[/editline]
Seriously, even now.
Sticky.

I was trying to find some common ground with you in that last post actually
be more civil you know?
Sticky.
Why would we want a thread that is dedicated to people bashing other people's music tastes stickied?

Christ that is terrible grammar. I'm so bad at it.
The more I think about it the better that analogy that guy from 4chan posted. It's pretty fucking brilliant. But also OP, I think you maybe trying too hard to understand why, like I said before some people are just more easily amused and have more simple-minded tastes. It may sound like a douchey and over-simplified answer but it's also true. That and if you actually like the repetitive sound being played over and over again then it's not so unbearable, which is the case why dubstep splits so many opinions.
I really don't like how some people consider more complex and difficult to play music better. Dragonforce and Aphex Twin are good examples of complex music being kinda shit and if you want to judge genres, Classical music is probably the most complex and it's mostly pretentious wankers who like it (not all, I like some).

This analogy, where can I find it?

deadmau5 is horrible
Kinda but he has a few decent songs. He's just an easy example.
an example of a good electronic artist is Clark. an example of a horrible one that makes me want to throw up is deadmau5

aphex twin isn't shit either what the heck is up with your opinions
Well I guess if it wasn't already about being unable to comprehend someone having different tastes in music it is now.

How can you dislike this, it's so awesome!
I don't really know what to say in this thread, because I mostly don't listen to just electronic music or just metal, most of what I listen to is a mix of both. v:v:v
the same 40 second bit looped with an occasional wrench thrown in
Congratulations, you've just demonstrated how very little you know about dance music.
it's cool to walk around with, shopping with mad beats is the best kind of shopping.
