body waiting bruthas fo' life :respek: [editline]8th April 2011[/editline] I DO own an olympus point and shoot though... heheh [editline]8th April 2011[/editline] News Update: My dad is such a wimp. "You can have the camera back..." "So I was right?" "NO YOU JUST HAVE TO LISTEN, but I don't wanna talk about this, you take your photos how you want to and I take mine how I want to." "Fine okay I was wrong (thinking what an idiot and how easy he is)" And that's that. Wow my dad is a wimp
Wednesday night I was at a gig up in Aberdeen and my girlfriend's freelance photographer friend slapped the hell out of a out a wannabe pro photographer guy for using the pop-up flash on his 550D (As well as using ISO 3200 at f/2.8). Easily more entertaining than the support acts :v:
haha nice
whats so fundamentally wrong with a pop up flash? yeah it's not quality gear, but it doesn't indicate a character flaw in the user.
it shows they either leave it on auto or don't care about the outcome
If you have a low ceiling you can slap a piece of white card at a 45 degree angle in front of the pop up flash and you have a cheap bounce flash. Obviously no replacement for a speedlight but it works.
My new baby!

Now all I need is a nice L lens. 18-135mm, and a 50mm f1.2 [editline]8th April 2011[/editline]
lucky bastard
If it makes you feel better I had to sell my $700 effects processor for my guitar to get it. And I found this camera on ebay NEW for $695... Awesome!
im thinking of an 18-135mm
whats so fundamentally wrong with a pop up flash? yeah it's not quality gear, but it doesn't indicate a character flaw in the user.
Well in gig photography it's all about capturing the atmosphere so it helps not to flood the place with a harsh flash, especially when, like the guy I saw, you're in a well lit venue and have a fast enough lens to take blur-free shots at ISO 800 (let alone 3200) Pop-up flashes have their uses, unfortunately Gig Photography just isn't one of them.
Pop up flashes are for if you're in a pinch and have nothing else for light.
don't ever use a flash at a gig unless you really know what you are doing. club lights make an atmosphoere, don't fuck it with white bland photos

Broke my camera tonight because I'm a clumsy bastard. Probably cost more to repair than get a new one. +18-55 won't zoom to 55mm, DOH
My new baby! [img_thumb]http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/206476_1618100132872_1247432170_31249017_8301158_n.jpg[/img_thumb]
Heeeyy. We share the same baby. ;)
Well I tried requesting a refund, but it already passed 14 days so I can't refund it anymore. I can bring it in for repair though. Do you think they would be able to fix the focusing if it's a fair bit off? or will I just be wasting my time if I send it over to Hong Kong for repair. The email:
Hello [Name], Thanks for your update on your item. May we inform you that it has passed the 14 days right of return, the item can only be repaired at this point. Please send back the serial number to us for confirmation and we will send you the paperwork and delivery sender instructions. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to your reply. Best regards, David Customer Services DigitalRev.com

Heeeyy. We share the same baby. ;)
We are t2i brothers!
It's worth getting it repaired rather than being stuck with $600 of useless glass. Quote some laws or some shit to get them scared into returning it. Although unrelated to lenses I got my Sansa Clip replaced by Amazon 1 1/2 years after I bought it.
I have this Sony A330. Seeing everyone walk around with Canon/Nikon makes me feel odd. So I know what I'll be buying next time... not a canon or something but this So vintage.

anyone own a panosaurus or panosaurus rex? its the only pano head that isnt ridiculously expensive im just worried it wont take a 550d with the grip attached, in the attached image there isnt much space left to move back the vertical bar diy is always a option and a design to shoot in landscape format is very simple i just dont have any tools, im not paying $300+ for a nodalninja its a fucking ripoff for a few bits of steel

The Canon 70-200/2.8 tripod collar is £100-150, for a piece of metal. The BG-E8 battery grip is £150 for some moulded plastic with some very simple circuitry inside. The lens hood for the 50mm 1.4 is £17, for a single piece of plastic, which they could easily include with the lens for almost no cost at all.
