How do you find the D7000? most negative things about it for you?
I love the weight. I don't know why the 3100 and now 5100 are aiming to be lighter, it just makes things feel cheaper and badly balanced with a larger lens. Weight for me is a plus, the extra mass keeps me from shaking too badly, heh. In fact, I want the battery grip so it weighs it down even more, I love the solid feel. (also it makes you look ~professional~) My only gripe at the moment is the chromatic aberration I get with the 18-105 that came with it, but it's to be expected from the lens, and I don't care about that so much when I actually need that zoom range like at a convention or something. I kinda wish they made it full frame given it outperforms stuff like the D300s, but I guess if I wanted a similar-performing camera at full frame I could have just gotten the 300s, but at that price I'd rather wait for the D400, or with extra cash wait for the D4.
that $150 could have bought you a 50mm 1.8
boohoo get a job.
i'm trying to let him know, maybe he could have taken his girl out with the $150, or got a new toilet or something
boohoo get a job.
The funny thing is; you don't get your money from a job, you leech of your parents.
nikon releasing AF-S version of 50/1.8 http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/lens/singlefocal/normal/af-s_50mmf_18g/index.htm link is broken now because Nikon fucked up and hasn't formally released it next should be the 85 1.8 aw yeah
Just bought a canon 70-200 f 2.8 for about 900 dollars
god damn lucky bastard [editline]13th April 2011[/editline]
nikon releasing AF-S version of 50/1.8 http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/lens/singlefocal/normal/af-s_50mmf_18g/index.htm next should be the 85 1.8 aw yeah
now i have nothing about nikon to insult
I swear they're making f/1.8s to justify keeping the prices of the f/1.4s high. The Nikon f/1.4 series are a big step up nevertheless.
The f/1.4 series are a big step up nevertheless.
fixed [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] jumping to any brands 1.4 is a great step up
Best ~$400 I've ever spent, tell ya h-what.
was £200 at one point in jessops, should have bought loads, sold em and made infinite money
£200 converts up to what they usually cost US anyway.
$325 USD [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] $440 at B&H
http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/24080/show.html I got mine for this price at a jessops store. It was about 400 at the time I bought it for the exchange rate back then.
We're talking canon here [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] might sell my 1.8 to fund a 1.4
You should have stuck with the kit lens and waited.
I'm glad I didn't. It's opened me up to taking much better photos
Does the kit lens not go to 50mm?
yes, but does it go to 1.8? [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] or offer comparable sharpness? [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] at f/5.6?
Sharpness is over-rated, especially when showing stuff off online. Any shortcomings can be corrected with the unsharp mask if needed.
Shallow depth-of-field and ability to actually use it in gigs?
Shallow DoF is used as a cheap technique most of the time, plus, you can get decent enough DoF with a kit lens, I know I did. Plus, the Nikon/Canon 50mm f/1.8 is terribly unsharp wide open, which was one of your concerns earlier.
shallow DOF is good when applied right, but I know what you mean with it being used to cheap ends a lot. I love it for spur of the moment portraits, you can turn a messy office into a nice backdrop, or separate a person from a crowd.
Just bought a canon 70-200 f 2.8 for about 900 dollars
Nice. Amazing lens. [editline]13th April 2011[/editline]
£200 converts up to what they usually cost US anyway.
Yeah, if you're looking at the conversion rate 4 years ago.
Nice. Amazing lens. [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] Yeah, if you're looking at the conversion rate 4 years ago.
It's like 1.62 gbp to usd at the moment, still considerable.

Holy shit, I just bought a pro account yesterday or the day before - I didn't realise they had stats. But... both of you have far more views than me.
The funny thing is; you don't get your money from a job, you leech of your parents.
The funny thing is I paid for it myself, anything else you'd like to add? just an extra note, I don't live with my parents no more.
