why are you taking the metal triangle thingies off? The strap comes off of THOSE.
I use a blackrapid strap on the tripod mount, finally got it off. The 50 1.8 sounds weird when it focuses, but auto focus is beast. Gotta learn me the controls tonight, maybe take it for a test run tomorrow night. I want my speedlight back, I used it so much before. Edit: After using it for a while, I can defiantly notice the weight increase over a D3000. It felt tiny and light as a feather when I was using it in Dixons, proper working model too. All while the 5D Mark II was stuck in a glass box of shame!
-snip wrong thread-
newest addition to my collection, the Kodak 2-A Folding Camera, patent 1910 amazing condition on the one I found, leather accordion fold looks almost new, and the aperture moves nice and smooth. Traded a set of macro lenses to an antique shop owner, which I had just bought combined with a Mamiya 528TL for a couple bucks fuck yeahr
That looks awesome, what type of film does it use and do you plan on taking any photos with it?
big old rolls, doubt it's still made. I could probably turn it into a battlefield camera type of deal with two or three strips of 35mm run across the back :v:
You could also put some photo paper in there if you have a darkroom handy, then process, then put it on top of another piece of blank photo paper under a bright light for about 15-20 seconds, then process the second piece of paper.
Dai, you buy a new camera every day. I wish I had that kind of money.
You could probably modify it to use 35mm, it's been done before.
Dai, you buy a new camera every day. I wish I had that kind of money.
goodwill and antique shops have goldmines of old cameras for little to nothing. They may be crap, busted or not exactly what you're looking for, but it's awesome finding those gems.
So I got one of these things from goodwill for $10 (not my auction, a link for pictures n such) http://cgi.ebay.com/NIKON-NIKKOR-50mm-f-1-8-AIS-FAST-LENS-AI-S-/280672239647?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item41595e801f Mine is in mint condition, no algae, no scratches on any of the glass, no oil on aperture blades. And it's definitely the version with the double length focus ring, which is supposed to be the sharpest one. I shoot with Sony E mounts and Canon FD mounts, so I really don't know what to do with this Nikon lens, I think it's an F mount and I don't want to buy another adapter for my NEX 5 when my FD 50mm is nearly as good in quality. So should I try and sell it for around $80 (price it typically runs for on ebay), or just keep it.
use on Sony [editline]9th May 2011[/editline] or buy a Nikon
lol i just hobby photo, i don't plan on doing pro with it. I just like messing around with old lenses on my sony, because they are really easy to focus with the digital screen. And a cheap mount would run me $25, not too fond of it for just one lens
sell your Sony and buy a Nikon d2 [editline]9th May 2011[/editline] *d200 or d90 or something and use the lens with AF [editline]9th May 2011[/editline] silly me, thought it was the newer AF one. sell it
yeah that's what i was thinking, it's a fucking old lens (1977 iirc) but is sharp as fuck. I electrical taped it to my canon mount once and it looked pretty nice, but pretty much the same as my FD. I don't really use autofocus so it's not a dealbreaker to me. But I'll probably sell it, i want to sell it to a friend because he has a Nikon but doesn't have much money. [editline]8th May 2011[/editline] sorry for posting so much, my friend has a Nikon D80, would that lens FOR SURE fit his camera? We are making a trade and I want to make sure I don't screw him over.
Yeah, it should fit his camera. The bottom looks the same as my 50mm (f/1.8D) and i too have a D80
I'm going to a family reunion/camping trip in june which will be all outside. Decided I should get a bounce card so I summoned my inner Marth Stewart and went to the craft store to get supplies. Made two bounce cards, one white and one gold. They turned out pretty well, the gold paper I bought was a bit flimsy though and the glue made it all wavy but it still works! so I got a facebook advertisement for "ROKINON lenses and equipment". Never heard of them, probably new kids on the lens block but HOLY SHIT 35mm f/1.4 all of their lenses are pretty cheap ($100 - $280), have good reviews, and have good stats. Only downside to them is the lack of electonics, so no autofocus or image stabilization.
If I wanted a non-autofocus lens I would just buy an old M42 lens(which I already have two of).
I wouldn't even wipe my ass with those lenses. Not that it would work. But my point stands.
Yeah, the picture quality is probably balls, but a bit of editing will probably make it look good again. Also, personally I really like having to manual focus, because it gives you a lot of practice for low-light situations where the auto focusing isn't really working
Yeah, the picture quality is probably balls, but a bit of editing will probably make it look good again.
Wouldn't count on it. Having a lens with a fixed aperture of F8 doesn't really count as a 'fast' lens. So in dim light, photos will be blurry. And don't even start on it being remotely sharp. Maybe you could use it to house a plant in.
Will do.
Rokinons use mirrors don't they? That's why they're so cheap. I think.
They have some mirror lenses, but they're mostly super cheap lenses, good for the price, but so cheap they're just bad.
Only adverts i get on facebook are the crappy indie music ones and black ops map pack adverts :V Also bought a Halina/Haking. Might get some film for it if I can find a place thats nearby that can develop it. [editline]10th May 2011[/editline] oh and it shoots in 110 film forgot that.

The 35mm 1.4 is their latest lens, just released. But they've been around for a while. The lenses are very good, and very cheap. [editline]10th May 2011[/editline]
They have some mirror lenses, but they're mostly super cheap lenses, good for the price, but so cheap they're just bad.
No, the mirror lenses are bad, like most mirror lenses. The rebranded Samyang lenses are very good. Wanted the Canon AV out cable. I asked him what kind of photography he does. "Professional wedding photographer" Said he uses the 18-250 for the weddings he shoots. FYI that is a terrible lens.
No one like that in my school, though whenever anyone asks for specs, they tell me to stop after "nikon" I've had someone get super exited when i let her look through the viewfinder. :v:
