are you sure you want a D3100?
I got a used D5000 dirt cheap in perfect condition. I think it would be a smart idea to look for some used cameras mate.
How much do you guys think a used 60D with a 50-200, 18-55 kit and 50 1.8 sell for?
£1000 maybe?
frag i can't wait for you to post pictures of your FL lenses, I have a sony nex myself and am dying to see them. Is the mount similar to the FD mount or would I need a new adapter?
The mount is same as FD mount adapters, FL lenses also fit on FD bodies and vice versa
I got my Canon FX today, i will post some pictures asap.
AND, i bought a Canon FL 58mm f/1.2 that produces awesome bokeh (plus i've heard it rocks on sony nex and pen, it's tacksharp on them).
Soon i will have this:
FL 28mm f/3.5
FL 35mm f/2.5
FL 50mm f/1.8
FL 58mm f/1.2
FL 200mm f/3.5
FL 100-200 f/5.6
And still looking for:
FL 19mm
FL 85mm f/1.8
FL 100mm f/3.5
FL 135mm f/2.5 or f/3.5
I can't wait to get them all :D
Wait what, FL lens fit on FD mount?
Yeah FL lenses do fit on FD mount, even on my T90 they fit easily.
The main difference you'll probably notice is that you can't do full aperture metering with FL lenses. You have to meter with the lens stopped down, which makes it next to impossible to focus sometimes. FL lenses use the breech lock mount, which means you turn a ring on the lens to lock it onto the camera. The older FD lenses use the same mount.
Here's a thread on this FL-FD topic: http://photo.net/canon-fd-camera-forum/004sgt
I finally made some pictures of my FL lenses, including the one that arrived today: the Canon FL 58mm f/1.2 :hehe:
But first a picture of my FL gear so far.

List what you see on the picture:
Canon FX with FL 50mm f/1.8
Canon FL 28mm f/3.5
Canon FL 58mm f/1.2
And for the ultimate camera porn, some pictures of the FL 58mm f/1.2, up close and personal (pictures made with my Canon EF 28-80L)

More stuff coming soon, but not very soon as they need to come from abroad.
The FL 35 f/2.5 and 200 f/3.5 need to come from the USA, and the FL 100-200 f/5.6 i ordered comes from the UK.
Also will be getting a Canon FT QL this weekend with a FL 135mm f/3.5 lens, the Canon FX does not work too good, and i don't like working with it too because it has some fungus in it's finder :(.
I hate you frag4life :(
Man those are some nice looks lenses.
Wow that's neat! Have you taken any pictures that are not of your lenses?
Wow that's neat! Have you taken any pictures that are not of your lenses?
Ofcourse, just check out my flickr page.
There are some pictures i made with my Canon F-1 with various lenses.
I have more pictures but i need to buy a flickr pro account to upload all those as i have reached my limit of 200 photos for a free account :(
I hate you frag4life :(
No need to hate Crhem , just maybe some day you find some awesome things like this yourself too :)
All these things were bought locally by the way.
I wonder, where do you people buy second hand camera's and lenses?
I know in the USA there's KEH.com, i really like that site but they're not really cheap.
Is craigslist the way to go to get nice items cheap in the USA?
And in other countries, are there some websites like craigslist in your country?
For me it's Marktplaats.nl, i got all the stuff on the photo from there (3 different sellers FYI).
I'm eager to read your responds :)
Un-men has a point, all I've seen from you are pictures of lenses.
Sure you've got some stuff on your flickr, but you don't seem to be shooting alot currently, especially for all the gear you have.
It makes me sad :saddowns:
I've love a lens with that aperture

It makes you sad that he hasn't posted any pictures that he has taken or that UnMen was right?
could it be that he only has one digital body and therefore can't really get a picture of it up real fast? :v:
I just feel like his posts are overall more about his gear, and not the pictures he takes with it.
I'm not trying call him out or anything I just want to see more creative activity
could it be that he only has one digital body and therefore can't really get a picture of it up real fast? :v:
I develop my film in batches of like 10 pieces because i need to bring them to somewhere not really near to me because of the costs.
So yeah, i am not able to develop and scan my films that fast.
Also i don't have a filmscanner myself yet, i borrowed the Epson Perfection V750 Pro that i scanned the F1 pictures with.
Plus i had to return it early because that friend had to scan some film himself and i didn't get around to scan all of my negatives i had lying around (and that would be 18 rolls of negatives). And that takes AGES to scan in on 6400DPI tiff 48bit with De Icing switched on (to remove dust, but it scans the picture 2 times and takes twice the time then...
And i am in my latest weeks of school that are very busy so i am not able to go out and shoot pictures that easy.
I will be going out this weekend, and i will be taking pictures, but with my 40D i think.
My Canon 7sZ has a shutter problem that the shutter is still in the frame while taking pictures with highspeed with the cam (speeds like 500 are halfexposed then).
Maybe i will be shooting with my Canon T90 with the FL lenses, as that combi works out the best (match the needle does not work with a FL lens on my F1, and they don't work in automode on my EF, hence the choice. But then i will get the pictures developed the same day, and also printed and then scan them in.
I don't think scanning in printed pictures is a good idea for detail though. ( i can get fine details from even Superia 200 film with the scanner i lent from that friend.
As for scanning, i think i will be getting a Canon 9000F scanner for my film, as it does not cost a fortune to get it, i will be able to buy it earlier. Too bad i can only scan 2x6=12 photos at a time with it, and the epson could do 4x6=24 photos. But heck, i won't be caring about that when i do catch up with scanning my pictures.
And as it is for now, i still have some crappy "standalone" film scanner at my disposal, but it ruines my colors and detail in photo's :P
As it maybe looks like now is that i am just showing off with my gear, but i just don't have the time to really take pictures of something else:(
[editline]27th May 2011[/editline]
Oh btw, i still have some pictures on my computer that i still need to upload on flickr.
I am on my laptop now, but i will be uploading those tomorrow :)
Going to shoot with an Olympus OM-2n and Canon EOS 650 tommorow (sunday). I'm going to use some Superia 1600 because I'm going to be shooting indoors (on a boat).

can't wait to see what that looks like
I'm guessing the 1600 is like ISO?
I'm guessing the 1600 is like ISO?
Yup, that's the ISO.
It's the highest ISO superia there's around, so i don't expect awesome quality, but it's worth testing out :)
We bought it today in combination with some Fuji Nexia 400 40exp. APS film.
For the people wondering, ddrl46 is my younger brother, and the OM-2 is my dad's old camera.
He hardly even used it, so it's in very good condition.
THE GRAIN
I don't mind film grain nearly as much as digital noise.
Am I wrong, or is ISO technically called ASA when used in terms of film?
usually yes
So what'd be the recommended ASA/ISO for film on a sunny day, at a no larger aperture of f/2.8?
200
[editline]28th May 2011[/editline]
i had 400 today and had to hit 5.6-8 to not overexpose
