Just arrived in the post :D 30mm :D by Laurence Howe, on Flickr Taken with the 30mm
Have fun with that. I'm still collecting money to buy one of those.
The depth of field on this 30mm is amazing, its so smooth It seems to overexpose a bit, but maybe that's just the metering I'm using on my 1000D Will post some photos in the main thread once it stops bloody raining, its been raining all day :(
what's the ISO settings for each of them
Both shot at ISO 200
That's the depth of field preview switch that I described.
Oh okay, I didn't see that post, I just saw the one about bulb.
It pained me so much to go to these concerts last night The professional photographer (A bloody good one at that) had a 1D Mark 3, 50mm 1.2 and a 70-200 L lens on spot. Went up on stage and everything to get shots. The jealousy was absolutely in the red zone for me
I haven't posted here in a while... But I'm introducing myself. There's a bit of a story behind this D40, as well. In my school district, we got a tech grant. This allowed the technology teacher to buy some new cameras. He had a d40 for his classes, but he was able to but 3 D5,100's so he didn't need the D40 anymore, so now it's mine. In the picture taken with the D40, there is a hot pixel. It appeared in both the 18-55mm lens as well as the 55-200mm. But i took some more pictures, and it doesn't seem to be there. here is some more pictures. Are they noticeable in those? Picture OF the D40 Picture taken WITH the D40 I got an 18-55 mm lens, and a 55-200mm. I struck gold. PS, I took the picture for the "computer illiterate people who think they know things" (CIPWTTKT) thread, that's what it says on the index card.
Try to keep images under 1000px wide, 640-500 being optimal. I highly suggest signing up for a free account on flickr if you're going to start posting pictures. It gives you quick and easy access to your images at various sizes.

I posted the zip file on flickr, here. Do you still see it?
It's not noticeable at all. It's almost expected for a sensor to have a hot pixel or two. Don't worry about it. It's even more normal for it to show up when shooting at a high ISO, which is probably why you see it in the indoor pictures and not the outdoor ones.
I just picked up the Nikkor 35mm 1.8 G, it's glorious. (not my shot of the lens) @ f/5.6, 1/200 oh, found this shot I snipped at the store (of my 18-105 since I was using my camera and swapped lenses). f/5.6 again but ISO 1250 because the lights were dim and I was too jittery from coffee to hold it steady at anything less than 1/25 to get the 5.6 shot :v: mm, borkeh is still creamy at that f-stop. 100%, I need a brushy thing for dust flakes hnngh my only gripe is the noticeable chromatic aberration when faced with heavy contrast. Only noticed when shooting indoors scene with wayyy overexposed outdoors in a window or something.
As a Canon shooter I am jelly of the 35/1.8. It is an amazing lens for the price.
I'm so fucking loving this 35mm. Plopped a +4 macro filter on the end and now everything is MASSIVE f/11 (+4 macro), 1/60, bounced flash, ISO 1000 because I forgot, and a dash of Keanu full version because keanu needs more attention. most excellent fad bros and brodettes
Doing that with lenses is cool. But shouldn't it be from the other side?
works both ways. It's just that the focal plane is sitting a little farther out from the back of the lens than the front, so technically speaking the body of the lens wouldn't be too in focus from behind with such a shallow DOF as the picture I showed. One second- yeah, the focal plane wants to rest at my first knuckle when I focus on the image inside the lens

you sir, are in need of a fast 50.
I am aware, but right now I'm prioritizing strobe lights, reflectors, an external speedlite with filters and plane tickits.
That's some mad swag
So we were going to buy a nice camera for my mother as a mothersday/birthday gift. She wanted a proper camera this time around so we thought about getting her a nice Nikon D3100. Today my dad shows up with this intead: I guess I'm getting into photography. :v:
You should send that D5100 to me it's much to complicated for your poor old mother I'll send you my D3100 it'll all be chill bro :respek::cool:
You should send that D5100 to me it's much to complicated for your poor old mother I'll send you my D3100 it'll all be chill bro :respek::cool:
Thanks for the offer but I'll stick with this one for now. Still, wow this thing is complicated. Too afraid to do anything. :v: Tried getting that four frames a second capture thing but it won't do it even though I enabled it in the settings.
Hold down the shutter release button (the "trigger") :v:
Hold down the shutter release button (the "trigger") :v:
It just takes a single picture when I do it. It seems to revert back to single shot mode. But I'll figure it out. [editline]16th June 2011[/editline] http://fedorafellows.com/screenshots/pic.jpg Heres a picture for you guys, so you can yell at me for doing things wrong. :v: [editline]16th June 2011[/editline] I managed to do it at last but when somebody jumps they go all blurry. I bet it is something with the shutter speed. Guess I'll have to figure it out.
Read the whole manual, that's what I always do with any new electronics. [editline]16th June 2011[/editline] (That is, the things with many features and buttons that aren't standard to other devices)
