How do older Canon AE-1s perform? I can get one in good shape with all the accesories for about $120.
excellent film cameras
How do older Canon AE-1s perform? I can get one in good shape with all the accesories for about $120.
It'll perform just fine, but what accessories does it come with? Don't get ripped off, they are usually cheap, even in very good condition.
How do older Canon AE-1s perform? I can get one in good shape with all the accesories for about $120.
I think $120 is a lot for a Canon AE-1; the AE1 is the most sold consumer slr ever so it isn't that expensive to get a good one. But if there are some nice lenses with it that are original canon lenses (i wont say 3rd party lenses are always bad but it's just better to avoid them except the vivitar 1 series) then it could be worth it. But if that isn't the case; just don't go paying 120 usd for one, you could get a Canon F-1 for that price that is really worth that price and is built even better with brass and all. A AE-1 is just plastic body that has a thin metal layer sprayed on it, and the shutter is a cloth one, so it is likely to fail earlier then a F-1 that has a titanium shutter. Ofcourse i am not saying the F-1 will take better pictures, but it sure the AE1 is not worth all that much. I can get them with the standard 50mm lens for 15 euros, that's like 25-30 usd? And they pop up a lot here because back in the day everyone had a AE-1 for the reason they were so dirt cheap to get. If you want to know if the set is worth it, please post exactly what you are going to get with it for that price, especially the lenses.
Hi, Which bag this one is? I have the same gear but not sure about which bag to buy! Any ideas? Cheers
It's my trusty Kata DC-445. Got it off a Facepuncher here for free and I love it, it's done me well.
I found out one of the bulbs in my flash unit is busted, and because it's 30 years old, I'm not sure how easy it'll be to find a replacement bulb/unit.
Finally got a filmscanner of my own, maybe just temporary, but it´s something. I got a Canon Canoscan 4400F, still need to receive it but oh well, i felt like sharing the news that i can finally scan some film i STILL have lying around here. (about 6 rolls...., damn that´s alot). It´s 4800 DPI and can take 1 6x 35mm frames at a time, so scanning still will be a pain in the ass but the price aspect of this scanner was really good. I got it for just 35 euro including shipping, and i reckon that i will get lot´s of fun out of that 35 euro :v:

Nah I work at the Milton Keynes store. Keith Pacey (Chief exec) came to give Mike his 10 year service award and retirement gift. Really nice guy, stood around and chatted with us for a while before I got my camera out and snapped some photos for Maplin Matters.
can you ask why everything is overpriced?
I found out one of the bulbs in my flash unit is busted, and because it's 30 years old, I'm not sure how easy it'll be to find a replacement bulb/unit.
I never use flash.
I found out one of the bulbs in my flash unit is busted, and because it's 30 years old, I'm not sure how easy it'll be to find a replacement bulb/unit.
what make/model? sounds like you might be better off getting a new flash
can you ask why everything is overpriced?
I don't think he'd appreciate that somehow.
What was his retirement gift?
What was his retirement gift?
Keith Pacey gave him the bottle of wine he's holding in the photo.
I think he's holding it.
I'm thinking of buying a Vanguard Espod 203AP as a tripod. My local shop has it for 83 € and that is a rip-off. Online I see it for about 65 € Is it worth buying?
Get a second hand manifrotto or something.
Why a manifrotto?
When I researched on tripods a year or two ago they were recommended to me several times.
I tried out a few Tripods in the shops around here and the Vanguard kind of felt the best to me :( I really don't want to buy one without feeling it first
Manfrotts are good tripods, i have a 190xdb with a 701rc2 head.

My day bought me a 7D for my birthday  Can't wait to buy a Sigma 30 f/1.4.
My day bought me a 7D for my birthday  Can't wait to buy a Sigma 30 f/1.4.
new camera stank
It must be the lens but somehow the Image Quallity in the 7D is far better than my 450D. I know its an obvious comparison but I didn't know it will yield that much improvement.
A new lens too? Happy birthday. :v:
A new lens too? Happy birthday. :v:
I'm assuming he got a kit as a present. Nice one!
