There's the Sigma 1.4, but that's £100 more.
Got my 35mm f/1.8G a few hours back, Absurdly nice bokeh at 1.8-2.8 and the autofocus speed is sooo good compared to the 18-55mm nikon kit lens.
Going to take up your advice, buying a canon 50mm f1.4 lens next month :)

How fragile is the Canon 50mm 1.8? I'm considering it, but it seems like a lot of people have it fall apart on them. I understand that it's cheap plastic but is it really that fragile?

Not like it's expensive anyway

God damn it, every day I want to go down and try out the Sigma 10-20, something stops me from being able to do it, and every delay causes me to want it less and less. Curse you, fate.

Holy fuck that's terrifying. (The video quality difference, of course)
A demonstration of my new 600D vs my old Zi8
that was really good, did you make it?
that was really good, did you make it?
Thank you! Yes.
Just came home with this, it was the only one at the store but I think I lucked out, because the sharpness isn't as bad as I thought it'd be, it's actually pretty damn decent!
Oh nice love wide angle lenses. Love using a 16-35
SOOO I've basically just sealed the deal. Buying that analog Canon EOS 1000f next week!

Yup, but I also plan to use it on the street.
isn't the 1000F a piece of shit? [editline]12th August 2011[/editline] and those lenses are shit too
It's like $50 who gives a fuck.
The old lens I ripped apart the other week is surprisingly useful if you stick it backwards on the front of my 50mm. Its slide-out lens hood fits right over the end of the lens, lets me focus, and the whole thing acts as a supermacro with crazy radial blur @f 1.8 with just the main body of the lens [t]http://gyazo.com/fced7ccabc8cd8ebddd86beaf9193522.png[/t] @f 1.8, with an extra lens bit stuck on to allow focusing from farther back [t]http://gyazo.com/bf755f3460ff210c333a123e5a078a61.png[/t] @f 5.6, extra bit so I could focus from a little farther back, and get a slightly longer DOF [t]http://gyazo.com/50b944c97f1010bff3713e41594eed8b.png[/t] even at small apertures it's got an insanely tight DOF, though obviously the vignette is in yo face
Yeah that vignette is definitely all up in my grill.
WHATCHOO GONNA DO BOUT IT FOO
Well, it's technically still my step-mother's but on loan to me indefinitely: [t]http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/1039/csc1326.jpg[/t] (Excuse the shitty somewhat-out-of-focus-5-second-snapshot) It's a Minolta SRT-101, with a 135mm 2.8 lens. It's from the late 60's. My dad and I were messing around with it and it actually has TTL metering, which I think we've figured out. I've got an old roll of probably expired film I'm going to try out with it tomorrow. I have a feeling using it will become a bit of a treat for me instead of a regular thing because I don't have a solid enough regular income to buy and develop film frequently, but when I do use it, it should be fun. Oh and it has a cloth shutter curtain and a mercury battery. Also, taking the picture of it after handling it made my D3100 feel incredibly small, lightweight, and somewhat fragile!

Apparently with cloth shutters, it can cause them to burn over time and weaken, and cause light leaks

Hey guys, just looking through amazons lenses, and I saw this new offer on the canon 70-200 f/4.0 L USM lens for around 700 dollars, do you think I should take it? I had originally thought I would wait since it costs like double that in denmark, but it's half the price in the UK. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-70-200mm-4-0-USM-Lens/dp/B00005QF6T/ref=sr_1_9?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1313234986&sr=1-9
I would say, if you think you can use it the price is right. On a side note, I am not one to buy off brand stuff but I purchased a couple rocketfish filters. A UV and ND filter, I only spent like 25 bucks on both so I wasn't losing much but these filters surprised me. I see no notable loss in quality even on full crop. Now my question is, I got $80 and I don't know what to buy... I am thinking about investing in a new tripod.
Anyone know where I could get the Phottix Nikos C6 in the UK?
Can anyone give me a dies of how of good/bad the Olympus OM-10 is in terms of the SLR world?
