Got both the camera and the booster grip for $100 in total. This thing can shoot up to 6fps, but who would want to do that with a film camera :v:

$300 for that booster? I'm pretty sure that is extremely overpriced.

Those are the prices for New-in-Box ones, which would make sense. I think I saw two used one on sale at B&H for $48 once
True. You still got an amazing deal.
I find it easier to focus with a shallower dof, it's harder for me to tell where my critical focus is if it's too broad. Plus, you don't necessarily have to shoot wide open all the time, having a 1.2 lens means that it'll be sharp as hell by 1.8, like as much as the 1.8 would be by f/2.8 or maybe even f/4.
I've found that with my 30mm 1.4, it shoots amazingly crisp shots at f/2.2
I've found that with my new 30mm 1.4, it shoots amazingly crisp shots at f/2.2
It's not even that bad at f1.4 either. The center is pretty sharp though corners lack a bit.
Whoever's running the facebook page is obviously a marketer that doesn't understand the majority of their big spenders. https://www.facebook.com/nikon/posts/10150316773294620 I had to comment (in two parts), though it got buried fast in the comments of "OMG THIS IS BULLSHIT I HATE THIS I'M SWITCHING TO CANON I CANT BE ASSOCIATED WITH A COMPANY THAT THINKS THIS" [release] the storm following this shows how many canon fans hang around just to bash on junk, but honestly I see that on every facebook page. Not sure if it's superiority complex or feeling insecure about their own purchases, but whatever. It's obvious a marketing rep is behind the page, not a real photographer. This status isn't even designed to be serious but to bring up chatter and maybe get people to think about buying better quality lenses because others commented about how great their 50 1.4 is or whatever. Yes, lenses do make a huge difference in quality (the differences could make a D3000 take gorgeous pictures and a D3s take blurry junk), but there's nothing I can't do with a point and click or my cell phone that won't come out presentable at least if I put my mind to it. Anyone claiming to be hopping off of nikon and buying canon/leica/whatever are either not smart with their money or just trolls trying to make it look like nikon is terrible and worth switching away from. Anyone who thinks that's honestly a good idea is probably more skewed in their views on equipment vs quality than the statement by the status could ever be, since the difference is apparently made because someone posted a fundamentally mistaken facebook status in the company's name. If you honestly are going to drop nikon for something else, you haven't invested much in your work and probably don't take it past being a hobby. the "Professional", even the half-serious hobbyist any of these people claim to be would be brand loyal not for namesake and having a fancy facebook that says cool stuff, but for sheer compatibility. You're used to the equipment and know how to use it well, and if you have purchased your fair share of equipment to improve the visual quality of your already artistic works, why go and buy another brand when all of that glass would go to waste? Resale would not make up for the same set of lenses in another company, switching either way. Canon users- congratulations, you've all accumulated extra fan numbers on nikon's page. Stop trying to make nikon users look bad, it's making you look worse for taking the time to troll. I'm sure there's people on both sides doing it. Nikon users- if this status is honestly enough to make you buy a different brand camera, go ahead and waste $100 on a different brand's identical version of your coolpix and be done with it. Facebook marketing team- figure out some of the basic photographer sentiments before trying this again. And SERIOUSLY, why haven't you taken this down yet[/release] blergh
I saw digital re-post that last night. I was pretty disappointed in Nikon
how generic. At least they finally realized what happened, it's been 16 hours since they posted the bad status
Someone's job is now on a knife edge. Proof Nikon has at least one that guy working for them.
silly nikon, posting silly updates and making lower-quality cameras [editline]29th September 2011[/editline] canon better camera = beteter photos right? [editline]29th September 2011[/editline] also just got two free cans of beer and free pies from o2, fucking yaldi

i preferred being able to see through a viewfinder and the dial placement on canon
I despise the concept of a rotating dial for menu navigation. Hated ipods for that too
i preferred being able to see through a viewfinder and the dial placement on canon
What's wrong with the Nikon viewfinders?
His eyes are so out of focus, it ruined his Nikon experience.
I despise the concept of a rotating dial for menu navigation. Hated ipods for that too
I like dials if they also can be clickable on the side. Like my sony camera, my main navigation is a wheel that scrolls, and clicks. So i can choose either or.
His eyes are so out of focus, it ruined his Nikon experience.
yep, short sighted
Can anyone recommend a decent hand strap? Something that'd fit a G2.

Still love a Nikon though.
got some new shelves at the office, used to be bookshelves at the local Borders bookstore. They went out of business and the guy who helps out at the office worked there, so he brought them over now I just need to fill 'em. The left shelf is all a friends' junk that I was fixing up
