[t]http://i51.tinypic.com/2hxbls0.png[/t] Only camera I have right now on the left but I love it so much, was my grandpas, found it in a closet with four lenses, I'm a lucky guy. Also Pentax on the right is my girlfriends
Someone should buy me a 60d Battery grip. I always run out of battery when shooting music videos and it's embarrassing. I get paid for doing them, but I have things higher on my list lol.
aftermarket ones are like £40 with 2 batts
aftermarket ones are like £40 with 2 batts
Except they're bad, and the batteries will be shit, even if they say they can hold the same amount of energy as the real ones. I'd skip these aftermarket grips, unless you want something feels weird and flimsy.
my friend has a grip for his 550D, it's not flimsy, it's great quality and the batteries are good. [editline]14th October 2011[/editline] saved our arses shooting video all day

then waste £70, not my money so do as you wish
"Waste". I have a first party MB-D80 and it's solid, fits perfectly and feels as if it's not even an extension of the camera when using it. Also, it's loads of little things that make it worth it too, like the front and rear wheels feel the same as on the body, the shutter feels good, the plastic grip coating is the same as on the main body, etc.
Paid £170 for my BG-E9 and I haven't regretted it once. [editline]14th October 2011[/editline] And I am a person that has tea parties with regret.
"In my opinion, this is a steal for the price. All functions are normal. There is the satisfying two stage feel to the shutter release and the wheel feels the same. My only complaint is the rubber. It is soft like the 60D and quite tacky for a sure grip. It does feel a bit thinner then the rubber on the camera and on my sample, there are a few air bubbles which indicate a substandard attempt at glueing to the body. I may simply pry up the rubber and re-glue or prick the rubber with a needle and inject glue if it bothers me. For $130.00 in savings, I will be keeping this grip." From those photos build quality looks nowhere near as good as the Canon.
I love my bg-e6 and wouldn't want anything less. It was $250 at the local shop.

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1019&message=37498880
I have the 550D grip of the same brand and it's perfect. It's exactly like the Canon one except the rubber isn't quite the same. For £40 with 2 batteries it's amazing and the batteries are fine, they last just as long as my official Canon one. £105 for the official grip and £50 for 2 official batteries is ridiculous, having the exact same rubber as on my camera body is not worth £115, and IMO anyone that would spend so much money for so little gain is insane. To each their own.
I bought a third party D7000 grip (Meiki) and it's one of the few that people seem to like more. It's the same exact form as the real grip, but instead of the D-pad it's got a mini joystick thinger. I actually like using that more than the D-pad on the body, it's nice. for her birthday, bought my sister the Zeikos grip for my old D5000, it seems to be the shape most aftermarket grips come in and I hate it. She's fine with it, but it's so blocky I just can't hold it and feel like it's part of the camera at all.
Anyone with Cokin GND filters? They're cheap, which is good, and the opinions on them vary sooo wildly. Just wondering if anyone has anything to say about them.
Realised I've never posted my gear here, and today my new lens arrived today so I thought I may as well make a post. Here's a horrible-ass picture of my shit. The two labeled (classic) are just for display inherited by my parents. Ignore them.
Do you find yourself wishing you had IS on the 100mm macro or is it not that bad?
Do you find yourself wishing you had IS on the 100mm macro or is it not that bad?
Not bad at all, if I had IS it would be harder to take macro shots.
I've been thinking of buying a Canon 17-40 L F/4. Hmm. Worth the $950?
I've been thinking of buying a Canon 17-40 L F/4. Hmm. Worth the $950?
You can find that lens for $800 or less, so no it's not worth $950. That being said, the pictures it takes are awesome, especially on a full frame.
im not sure, it's not that fast aperture or whatever and it's range is limited unless it's full frame better option would be a 17-55 2.8 or a fast aperture zoom

I can't find out what they are, just the focal lengths really aren't anything to go on.
Also about to sell my 50mm f/4 Macro K mount on eBay as I don't use it anymore, anyone want to make me an offer before I put it on eBay?
