I was thinking, would it be possible to put the sensor and paraphernalia from a compact camera into a film SLR?
I was thinking, would it be possible to put the sensor and paraphernalia from a compact camera into a film SLR?
I dont think it would be possible but if it is I am going to digitalize my Zenit.
I was thinking, would it be possible to put the sensor and paraphernalia from a compact camera into a film SLR?
The sensor would be far too small for results good enough to make it a worthwhile pursuit. But let's say you did manage to find a sensor large enough and got it working in the 35mm. It's not going to look any different than any other digital camera with the same lens attached (you can get adapters). You could find a way to strap on one of the old Canon 35mm digital backs to your particular camera, but it again it's not going to have any advantage over a regular fullframe DSLR with an adapter for the lens. You would be better off finding an old 1Ds or 5Dc.
i don't think that would be worthwile because the SLR will need a 35mm sensor. Just like the film normally in it will be 35mm. Compact cameras usually have far smaller sensors, unless you went to do really complicated stuff with mirrors and prisms and all that (which would be ridiculously hard) you would have a huge crop factor. compact cameras have far smaller sensors. technically it would be possible to take the innards of a dslr with a 35mm lens, but i don't think that would be worth it. it can theoretically be done but it will never be worth it. it's weird to me that leica is the only company making retro looking digital cameras. i can imagine if there were all metal cameras today with 70's styling people would eat them up. ESPECIALLY if they came with 50mm glass as a standard lens.

yeah that olympus camera is a bit of a throwback, but not as much as that fujifilm. both are really cool looking cameras though.
I would love that Fujifilm X100, if it didn't cost so bloody much http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/80811/Show.html?cm_vc=PPZ1 I mean £849.00 its a bit much but it looks wonderful and well made.
The zoomring on my Tamron 17-50mm is b0rken. I feel like curling up in a ball and dying. Going to see if I can get it replaced, heres hoping Norwegian law will back me up!
Unlucky, how long had you been using it for?
Just over a year. Came in contact with the store I bought it from, going to have it replaced I believe. All I have to pay is postage it appears  Laws in Norway says a product like this should last at least 5 years, and if it doesn't you get a replacement. Hopefully I get a replacement!
So I just learned about crop factor etc, so that means the 50mm I purchased is not in fact the look I was going for. I need a 30mm..... Fuck
Its quite tight on a crop, but still a quality lens that you can get great photos from.
Dude, it's fine. I was using a 50mm for almost 2 years on a crop sensor before getting a wider lens prime. It's a great little lens, and you will fall in love it with. Also, because it's a little tighter, it will force you to take certain types of shots. Which by the point of getting a new lens you will feel so comfortable shooting at 50, that if you ever find yourself in a position where that's your only lens, it won't be a problem.

Maybe you guys are wondering if this will work on a digital camera like a Canon EOS? Answer: Yes it can. I got a converted Canon EF 1.4x Extender with the lens that makes it a 840mm f/7.1 lens; not ideal, but it works very well. Here is a picture of the adapter: Canon nFD 600mm f/4.5 by Leevmeister, on Flickr A other funny thing about this lens is that it's not a L lens. This is because it was made when the L lenses didn't even exist yet. (but believe me, it's still made like a L lens though). Lens is also quite good, but it does has some CA because there are no UD elements or other special elements in the lens. But it produces some nice bokeh and above all; it's sharp. I already have made some pictures with it at Schiphol Airport. Just an example(subject is about 750m - 1 kilometer away from me, and no i did not crop this, i couldn't get the plane fully in my frame): Whoa that's a big plane. by Leevmeister, on Flickr Check the rest here (most of them are made with the 600mm): http://www.flickr.com/photos/leevmeister/sets/72157627888705329/with/6295285211/

Oh can I borrow it for a couple decades?
woah that's sweet. i remember looking for some big telephotos for my FD system, but all i could get was a vivitar 500mm mirror lens at f8, needless to say it sucks. i have that lens on your far left as well, the 70-150 it also sucks
Do you take a lot of photos of planes or wildlife? Seems useful for that.
woah that's sweet. i remember looking for some big telephotos for my FD system, but all i could get was a vivitar 500mm mirror lens at f8, needless to say it sucks. i have that lens on your far left as well, the 70-150 it also sucks
Well i've gotta say that i also have a Tamron 500mm f/8 Adaptall-2 SP lens (the second one from left on the pic), and that lens, for the fact it being a mirror-lens, produces some very good results. The Tamron Adaptall system is very handy for people wanting to use it on digital, because you can even get canon EF mounts for it, and it originally supported Nikon F mount lenses with diafragm pass-through. The lens on the far left is what i call the long drink glass; it's a nFD 200mm f/4. Nothing spectacular, but just works fine for what it can do. By the way, this big telephoto didn't cost me that much, it was under 1000 euros, about half it would cost normally (without the converter). On Marktplaats.NL (local site for buying things online, like craigslist) someone is also offering a Canon FD 500mm f4.5L with the ORIGINAL 1,26x fd to eos converter. But he is asking 1950 euros for it. Reasonable because the adapter is even worth that alone, but too much for me. So when i saw this 600mm, i acted immediately and bought it. I had to travel 8 hours in total (to there and back home) to get it, but i think this lens is actually worth all the hassle :) [editline]2nd November 2011[/editline]
Do you take a lot of photos of planes or wildlife? yeah that mirror lens you have looks nice, mine is REALLY compact. It's okay on my AE-1, but adapted to my nex sharpness is out the window. Still I'm mad jealous of that lens, can't wait to see more picture with it.

my friend called me saying he found a strange kind-of-camera-shaped case made of cow hide leather sitting on a shelf at Goodwill earlier today, and noted it was $10 but didn't pick it up or look if anything was in it.
