after scraping the acid off the batteries, I've found they expired in 2001... which means they were manufactured in 1994. Jesus :v:
oh i thought my goodwill story would be cool but now it's not as cool lol. i picked up this lens at goodwill for $10, not sure what to do with it http://i.imgur.com/McDOh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/QmqRk.jpg it's in absolutely PERFECT condition, better than any quality i've seen on ebay, and it seems to sell for a decent amount (could probably get upwards of $40 for it). it's a nice small lens, but the flange distance of the m42 mount doesn't make it ideal for my camera, as the adapter would be longer than the lens itself. trying to coax my friend with a 7D into buying it, because he just has the 18-135 lens, and m42 lenses adapt nicely to the EOS mount, and it would give him a nice prime for way cheap.

You've got a constant stack of mid-90's point and clicks and maybe a polaroid body now and again, but finding the good junk in the glass case is rough. Sometimes you can find a nice SLR body like this time I found a canon AE-1 and a ton of glass, but they were selling it for like 150 and I have nothing canon-related so the glass wouldn't have been a good investment, and the body was busted so I couldn't even use anything. Other times you find random lenses that people are utterly useless, but you end up finding things like a perfectly clean nikon 50mm 1.8 pancake lens for $4. Same lens came on the Nikon N2000 I just got, which is the same as the picture I posted earlier for reference. speaking of, anyone need a nifty fifty? I'm fucking stacked with them god damn
oh yeah i remember when you picked that thing up, it's a great buy. I've gotten the longer version of that lens for $10 at one, sent it to my friend with a d80 because it wasn't any use to me. also picked up a working ae-1 program with a 50mm for $12 once, still use it today. but yeah i've found some overly expensive stuff there, but it's gotten me to be pretty diligent in what i'm looking for in terms of glass. i'm going on a goodwill run today so i'm going to keep my eyes open for camera stuff, though at this point i have everything i want in terms of FD lenses save for extremely rare ones. but hey, it's easy to flip a profit most times. maybe i can find a nice pentax k prime for my dad.
I just bought two Olympus OM 10's, both fitted with a 50mm 1.8, for 25 euros. Thought it was a pretty decent price.

Snapped myself a 28mm F2.8 just this morning for about £100 or so, looking forward to having a happy medium between 50mm and 16mm on my 7D
hey dai i got a thrystor flash today at goodwill for $5 haha. it was a 550FD though, not as nice as yours i don't think. my sony doesn't have a hotshoe though so i have to use it on my ae-1, but god it's so fun just to shoot off for no reason lol
Since everyone is talking about film cameras. I just picked up a black Canon AE-1 with Program mode. I wanted the original chrome one but none of them seems to be in a great condition, the one I picked up looks like it just left the factory. It also came with a 50mm f/1.4 and a 100-200mm f/5.6. All I need now is a good ol 35mm film, care to recommend me some? I also bought a Canon 24-105mm f/4 L. I havent get to fully use it yet but when I was testing it at the store it was amazing.

One body plus lens are in good shape, the other body plus lens both have lots of sand inside them. I just took apart the lens and got most of it out. The body was cleaned as well but one thing I noticed was that bulb mode doesn't work on that camera. It doesn't stay open so I am guessing theres some oil inside that's slowing it down so it can't catch onto the lever. Anyway, challenge for me!

I've also seen a lot of good results from Kodak Portra 160 if you need omething sorta near the middle. [editline]4th November 2011[/editline] I think it's pretty clear which one has the more accurate colours ektar http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/tags/kodakektar/ el cheapo ultramax http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/tags/kodakultramax/
Fuck yeah, finally done take apart the lens, cleaning it and putting it back in. Pain in the ass, but I now know how this kind of shit works. Pretty interesting as well

I have another chrome body i don't use, but you live in japan so it wouldn't be a good deal to send to you :/ also you're going to love that 50mm, the 1.4 is incredibly sharp. the 100-200mm lens sucks though, extremely large and not very useful, but it's decent under the right conditions (i say this not having found any yet) I also bought a Canon 24-105mm f/4 L.

Yeah, many people compained about the 100-200. But since I plan on using it to take pictures of wildlife. I thought it would be useful to have that. All I need now is a good lens wider than the 50mm. Perhaps a 28mm?

Yup, deal of the month it is. First I did not think it was in working order, but when i turned it on the screen just turned on and i could operate the camera, so i asked the sellers what was wrong with it. The only thing "broken" about it is that the CF eject lever stopped working, so is somewhat difficult to remove cf cards but that's all. They also had some other lenses for sale in the range from 5-15 euros. And also a OM-1 with a broken lightmeter for 15 euro (and the 50 1.8 om lens for 5 euro). Also tons of filters from 1 to 5 euros a piece. @BassB: i think you need to go to their shop to check what they still have left. I don't think they put these stuff on their site.
holy, i need to go to that shop. i'm going on the next train. there are some pretty good deals on their website. none as good as your deal though!
lucky fucker
@BassB: i think you need to go to their shop to check what they still have left. You're a lucky man, man. I'd kill for a dslr right now. if you ever see a good deal in there for a dslr throw a pm my way, i'd really appreciate that, i bet they would send it to me if i dropped them a mail. (or use you as middle man if you'd be up to that)
I need to visit some shops around here to see if I can find some of these hidden gems.
a shop around here sold a hasselblad for £50
a shop around here sold a hasselblad for £50
Are you shitting me, that's fucking ridiculous. When I go to goodwill I always have a faint hope I will see a Leica for $50 or something, one day...
this is not a joke, the guy said "we sold a hasselblad recently, for like 50 quid... the ones you look down the top of and take the photo" i said "are you joking" he said "no, it's priced to sell"
so someone came into that shop with a hasselblad and sold it to the shop for less than 50 quid (that shop wouldn't sell it at a loss would they?). sounds shady
weird isn't it
Maybe they confused a TLR with a Hasselblad.
damn i want a minolta 5d lol. wowzers nice find. but for every nice goodwill find, there is a bad one. like the fact that i found a minolta 3000i for $70 without a lens but i did get this sony boom condenser from a video camera there, brought the video camera back because it didn't have a battery so i essentially got it for free i looked on ebay and one is selling for $40 broken, and $120 in good condition. i tried it out and it works, but my camera doesn't have a mic input lol.
I was offered Canon FD 800mm SSC (The best kind before L lens existed, looks similar to the white bazooka frag4life posted) for $1500 along with this adapter. Do you guys think it's a good idea to buy it or for reselling?
it's going on ebay for $4700 you could probably make a profit
it's going on ebay for $4700 you could probably make a profit
provided anyone actually bites, since the 4700 could just be a ballpark "this shit looks expensive!" ebay price picked up a gem of a camera, I'll get pics of it later. Not telling what it is yet, only pics will do this monstrocity justice.
