oh wow that's a great price. yeah my main problem with my lens is CA, which is fine at f2, but i wish the lens would let me do 1.4 or 1.8, because the sharpness at f2 isn't much better than my 50mm thus making the lens not as useful as i'd like.

Must... resist....
hey frag are you using that minolta 5D body? I picked up a minolta maxxum 7000 and a 50mm f1.7 lens from goodwill today for $35, and I totally want to buy a 5D to use this lens with.
wait nevermind, the lens has oil on the blades. couldn't check in the shop because the camera didn't have batteries. fuck.
looks like this

god damn. i found a guide to disassemble it, http://www.pbase.com/pganzel/disassembly_repair_of_maxxum_50mm_lens i just get lost when he says how to use an ultrasonic cleaner. otherwise i'm tracking this auction http://www.ebay.com/itm/Minolta-Maxxum-7000-50-mm-F-1-7-Prime-Lens-/150697481224?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item2316451408 for the exact same camera with the exact same problem, because i still might be able to get my amount back.
but ultimately this is a huge bummer. the blades don't get stuck, i just don't think they'll be fast enough for like any non DoF preview work. i fiddled with the mechanism and it just doesn't seem to be super quick like this takumar lens i had a couple weeks ago. this wouldn't be a problem on any of my other lenses since i always DoF preview, so that's a bummer as well.
Arr found two flashes in my dads cupboard and they both still work fine arrr

Congrats on that fine chunk of glass.
Awesome lens *drool*.

you sure?
How about canon's 50 f1
imagine being able to say "fuck, ill stop down to f/1.2"
How about canon's 50 f1
IIRC Widely regarded as a bad lens, unsharp no matter how far you stop down.
Talking about fast lenses, look what i got today:

I do believe it has a T mount, so i might be able to use this lens on a SLR camera.
Originally this lens was meant for use on surveilance cameras on a bridge in my hometown. That bridge is called the Erasmus bridge.
why haven't they standardized lenses yet?
it would make everything so much simpler
http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=153
hmm that's weird, because mostly what i've heard were bad things about the lens, saying it was incredibly fugly at all aperture ranges, and was replaced by a f1.2 for that reason.
because then manufacturers would lose money and prices for lenses would collapse

My friend bought a 50mm f1.2L today...
It is just a beautiful thing...
I got to play with it and his 5d a little bit today, I didn't use my card though :( I will see if I can have him send me the photos.
i bought a 4gb sandisk eye-fi
anyone got one of these/using them?
trying to think of something neat I can do with it like ghetto mounting my camera somewhere public and taking month long timelapses etc
Picked up a Pentax ME today at an antique store. Everything functions correctly, even has working batteries still. Instead of the fake black leather, this one has fake brown leather on the body. Came with the 50mm 1.7. Got it for under $30 so I'm pretty happy.
They also had a few other cameras like a Canonet, and old Kodak fold-out camera, an instamatic with old film still in it, in the original box, and a few brownies. Gonna go back for sure, I guess these things have been there for ages.

I you come by a Canonet QL19 or QL17 (GIII or not), please let me know. I have been looking for such a Canonet for quite some time now.
nearly bought a gf2 because a local shop has one very cheap, , i know its compatible with a evf but does it have a manual focus aid like the new sony models?

It doesn't have that thing where the camera will highlight the edges that are in focus, but you can zoom in to ensure precise focusing.
Has anyone ever had problem with rapid discharge of a LP-E6 Canon brand battery? I just charged my battery last week and now it's dead and my camera was off all week. I don't know how it could have discharged to 0% in less a week with no use. I think I may have to send it back to Canon. Fuck Canon I got no pictures of Thanksgiving because of this problem, I hope it can be replaced for free.
Anybody got any suggestions for a good flash unit? I've got a 450D, I don't need anything incredible, just something to introduce me to external flashes for a year or two.
