I'll hit the forest if it's still bright tomorrow then. [editline]27th December 2011[/editline] I'll keep that in mind :)
Just a tip for forest shoots, try and go when the lighting isn't so harsh (Mid Afternoon) or too dark, (On a Cloudy Day) if it's too bright out you'll notice that some areas of your photos will be blown out where light is coming through holes in the canopy; you can try underexposing the image but that usually will hamper the entire photo. So if you go toward the end of the afternoon the lighting shouldn't be as harsh and those areas in your photos won't be as badly affected.
Use a tripod when using long shutter speeds.
Well, tripod's are strictly necessary, I've made do with using whatever stable surfaces/objects I can find when shooting long exposures. Probably not ideal, but hey it works :v:
Been rocking my battery grip. It's so funny that it makes my camera look like a D3 or something similar, but it definitely gives it more body. For a fairly cheap accessory it seems worth it already. Also been using this 50mm f/1.4 old AI lens (or is it non-AI, I forget). But it's such a fantastically fun lens to use.
Why exactly is the grip connected to the body with a wire?
Why exactly is the grip connected to the body with a wire?
for the shutter release connection, otherwise it's battery-only. Same goes for my 5000, got a cheap grip for my sister to use on her occasional long trip also because she's terrible at remembering to charge shit so it becomes necessary
Being poor isn't fun heh. I got a Nikon D3000 for Christmas. No idea why I didn't get the D3100 as now I have to dig up £200 for a shitty camera over the next two years. If only I could upgrade to a D3100 for £50 more. Looks like I could with prices on eBay.
I wish I could find a decent off-brand battery grip for my T3 but the only once I can find fit the T2i or the T3i and other canon cameras. I have no clue if a T3i or T2i Grip would work on my camera.

Since my D80, and your D7000 has em
I've finally returned back home from my Christmas family trip! Here's what I purchased myself:

My battery grip was my biggest christmas present, and I'm glad I got that. At least be happy you have a DSLR to shoot with.

And that camera is fine. Buy a good lens like the 35mm f1.8(G?) and shoot away. Better camera doesn't mean better photographer
wah my parents so shit they bought me the iphone 4 not the 4s! I HATE THEM!
at least they didn't get you the WHITE 4s god I asked for black...
They gave me $500 and a car, goddamnit i wanted an ipad2
I hate it when parents do that. What type of car did you get?
are you wearing purple tights?
I'm pretty sure that's a chair. I hope. :v:
I'm pretty sure that's a chair. I hope. :v:
It is ;)
I think the T3i uses the same battery as the t2i (think) so in theory, a T2i grip should work.
Yeah, but his is a T3, which uses the e10, and i think the t2/3i's use the e8. I did some looking and didn't find anything from Canon, but it seems there is only an aftermarket grip for the T3

But he did want an aftermarket grip. So that should do him just fine. And on the same subject, I also need one for my 60D. Not going to spend $160 just for a canon. So I need a aftermarket one. Any specific brands that are better than others?
BAG BUDDIES.
I had that exact same bag too. I wonder if he got it with a Best Buy deal; my T3 came with a 16GB SD Card, and the Lowepro Bag for a good price. Though, I stopped using that bag since I have too much gear to carry around and got a Amazon Basics Camera Gear backpack fro Christmas.
beaten to it

Did the Best Buy deal which included the T3i, kit lens (18-55), 55-250 lens, bag, and 8 gig memory card for about $1,000. I have two other memory cards from an older digital camcorder and the 580ex Flash was a gift. What's a good tripod for around $50? Would anyone recommend the Sunpak PlatinumPlus 6000PG 61" Tripod? I'll also be using it to film, so I need it to be able to rotate smoothly.
Just got this baby [editline]28th December 2011[/editline] Makes my collection larger

Picked up this nice tripod. After playing around with a few others I was interested in, I ended up not liking the pistol grip. This one has a very smooth turn/tilt that I really like, and will hopefully use a lot in filming movies. Rocketfish 65" Carbon Fiber Tripod
