Picked up this nice tripod. After playing around with a few others I was interested in, I ended up not liking the pistol grip. This one has a very smooth turn/tilt that I really like, and will hopefully use a lot in filming movies.

Do you still have the others?
Do you still have the others?
The other tripods? I was playing around with them in the store, I didn't buy a bunch of them.

Some books from the life library of photography, found them at a thrift store. Though it's not the complete collection :c

Still looking to take some low f-stop portraits? :v:
Left an important thing at the hotel from my latest trip, I cant believe I actually forgot to pack my tripod head in my bag, a big, obvious tripod head and whats making it worse is that it was next to my bag when I was packing my bag.
On the positive side, I finally found a stand for my condenser mic. I cant really bother to buy a proper heavy duty stand.

Can't you call the hotel? There should be a way to get it back somehow.
Can't you call the hotel? There should be a way to get it back somehow.
Did that, they say they couldn't find it.
Ah ouch, how much does it cost for a new head?
I left my school blazer worth $260 new in a hotel in China, didn't realise until I got back to Australia. Still managed to call them and get it posted back for about $20.
The one I lost was a cheap $60 head. I might just go and get a new tripod anyway.
As I wait for the new year, I thought I might ask what you guys recommend for a wireless flash trigger, for Nikon cameras (D90).
I've been doing a lot of setting my on board flash to 1/128 power and setting my flashgun to flash triggered slave mode, and I'm getting sick of doing this.
I hear YONGNUO flash triggers are good. Bopie uses them i think.
The one i have is different since it was cheaper, and had a flash stand lol
Mine's an aputure model, works well for my uses as i've never had problems with it.

And it also functions as a remote shutter release, though not at the same time

Also used it in 3 hours worth of family portraits, didn't have a hitch.
"Aputure"
also I've looked at the Rocketfish tripod before, but I've never had a good experience with rocketfish products
granted they're all separate small companies making different stuff for Best Buy under an umbrella name, but I still don't trust anything of the brandname

I'm not one for rocketfish products either, or any of those "in store" brands for that matter, but so far this feels like a pretty good tripod (granted I'm no expert on tripods). It's a little on the hefty side weight wise, but I prefer a heavier stable tripod compared to something I could easily knock over. Also it has a nice smooth horizontal and vertical pan, which will come in handy for filming.
I'm not entirely sure what this little metal hook is for though:

It has a pretty good height to it also:

I'm sure you could find a cheaper, better tripod if you looked around, but so far I'm pretty satisfied with it.
I usually see that hook being used to hang a sandbag/other heavy object to further stabilize the tripod.
I used to work for Best Buy and I was skeptical of their stuff but it really isn't that bad. The brand to stay away from at Best Buy is Dynex, steer clear of that crap. I currently have a Rocketfish PSU and it has been awesome, it was supposed to be temporary but I was so happy with it I kept it. As well the UV filter on my t2i is a rocketfish.
I am sure there are things they make that I wouldn't touch but for the most part they are a good value and a great option if you are in a situation where you need something fast and cheap.
Great, now that you have what you need, I would like to suggest our geek squad black tie protection. It covers things like accidental damage and defects in your item, say you were to drop it by accident and such we... Whoa... What just happened?
Kirby106, I've got the exact same tripod. Pretty amazing tripod for the money. I believe I got mine for about $65. It's an awesome base tripod with some cool options, and VERY solid. Good choice. Carbon fiber legs at $65 is awesome. The only con to speak of is that you have to unscrew the up/down handle before stowing it away in its bag, and re-screw it when you set it up again.

Yup, got the same tripod. It looked like a beast at first but just some days after the warranty expired after a year of use one of the leg's locks broke. It's not that heavy duty, just a heads up (I can still shoot with it but the lock made it so that the leg wouldn't open in bigger angles. Lost a lot of stability).
Anyone know their mounts? I'd love to know what these are.

Not sure what the first one is, but I think the rest have a M42 mount.
The screw ones are either an M42 or a T mount probably

It holds 2 slrs, both with lenses on, two compact film cameras, one tall-ish lens, all my film, a full sized flash, a compact flash, and a tripod.
and its super comfy. It also has that buckle, which is cool.
the empty spot in the second photo is where my dslr goes, but I'm taking the pictures with it.
I have the messenger bag from Chrome which also has that buckle. Everyone at school always pushes the button :c

This Tamron Adaptall, which isn't a mount itself, because you'll need a mount adapter to be able to mount it on a camera.
You'll be needing something like this to mount it on your camera:

There is a mount for basicly every modern dslr on the market, ranging from Canon EF to Pentax K mount.
That lens is a 28-200, right?
As much as I love new equipment, yesterday I had my hands on some interesting equipment. 40 year old camera's all of them are 100% working. A new station in Nigera brought the camera's, it's funny to see how for us there useless cameras but for them they work fine.
