Terminators always scare the living fuck out of me.
Just got my Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4. I'd been a bit pissed this week waiting for it, as it was first listed as a early 8 element version (Zeiss Planar copy) but it changed and dropped in price, so I jumped on it without looking into it more. Now that I have it... The only thing that bothers me is the yellowing due to whatever Pentax coated the glass with (radioactive decay).
Just leave it without caps at the sun a whole day. Enjoy that lens. Gonna buy the same soon, hopefully.

I'm hoping that does it. If not I'm going to see if I can somehow use the UV lamp I have in my chem lab for it...
Focusing is so smooth too... Weird how it turns opposite every other lens I have though (right for infinity, left for close).

You'll get used to it after awhile. Heck i'm so used between Nikon and Canon I don't need to think when switching between the two :v:
I have a Canon EOS 20D and a 35-105mm lens from a Canon EOS Rebel film camera. My dad uses Canon and has been getting into photography as a hobby and has been buying nicer lenses and all the gear, so I usually just steal from him if I need anything special.
Got this camera bag from my grandpa, currently using it. Needs a strap, though.

Excellent!
You have the same gear I had when I started, just 2 generations newer.
Oh man. The D4 looks sweet.
Maybe once I'm earning some money I'll buy one...
Oh dear.
I did have an interview for the Wimbledon Tennis Champs yesterday. Worked there twice now + prospects of working at the Olympics (the same company who works for Wimbledon tournament won the contract for the Olympics), which would be fucking sweet.
Hopefully work all the way from June through to Sept. If that's the case, I'll have a shit load of money by the end of summer. Even after buying a camera, I reckon I could have enough for both that and a trip to India. I guess we'll see.
Also, it's just a pipe dream at the moment, but definitely planning a big trip to the States in the next few years. If any of you US guys are still around, I'll definitely be making any detours to visit you all since I plan to be driving it.
Anyway. Off to the pub now :D
Catch you all later.
I've been trying to teach myself how to use this flash (Canon Speelite 580EX) for a few days now. Today I learned how to do multiple flashes.

I'm going to be getting myself a 50mm 1.8 really soon. I just bought a rig and shit so I'm kinda broke, but I'm really anxious to play with one. I just saw some videos on youtube shot with the lens and it's fucking AWESOME.
FUCK IT, bought it anyway. Poor as fcuk.

I got a 35mm 1.8 and let me tell you, it is the absolute shit. (shit in a good way) I love that lens so much. The only downside is if you run around with your lens at 1.8 all the time in aperture mode (as i sometimes do) sunny areas become to much for even 100 iso and then you gotta settle for a deeper dof.
super useful information
over the internet HUG
now all I gotta do is save up for one of those.
bidding on a 35-105mm f3.5 Canon FD lens, seems like a good walkaround lens for the camera with that constant aperture. could also be decent for still filming on my nex
another lens i'm looking at is the 24mm f2.8 Canon FD, which would make for a 35mm equiv on my nex which is a good focal length, but aperture isn't that fast. I mean i'd love to get the 24mm zeiss for my system but fat chance i'll ever drop $1k on a lens with my skill level

The 35-105 f3.5 is a nice lens but i find it too big imho. I much more like the pumpzoom version nFD 35-105 version which also has a aspherical element in it. A friend of me uses it on his Olympus EP2 for filming, and the fact that zoom and focus is on the same ring makes it a more usefull lens to zoom while filming without losing grip of the camera.
This is it: http://www.canon.com/camera-museum/camera/lens/nfd/data/zoom/nfd_35~105_35~45.html
Ok, the aperture isn't a constant number but the lens is way more compact and gives just as good results as it's bigger clunky brother.
About the 24mm f2.8; if you don't like the F2.8 aperture you could look for the fenominal 24mm f2.0 version (people even like it better than the f1.4L version). Yeah okay, it comes with a price, but it isn't THAT expensive that you couldn't afford it and it's certainy worth it's money.
yeah i don't mind the size so much, i've heard the pump isn't as good IQ wise, but thank you for the input. the price rose to $50 plus shipping, which is more than i'd like to spend on it since i probably won't use it too much.
i was looking for the f2 version, but i couldn't even find it on ebay at all! the price of the 2.8 went up to around $70 which is eh for me, there's one that is going for $30 but ends tomorrow but it's the SSC breech instead of bayonet. i might just settle on neither because i don't really need them per-se, i have a 28, a 35, a 50, and a 55, which are most focal lengths i use anyways.

Could you send me that 24mm ssc version? I know someone who is looking for that particular version.

Anyone would be willing to cooperate to buy this lens for me and ship it to the netherlands?

Please pm me if you are willing to do this for me :)
I have a Nr-1 Pocket Kodak, Series II camera, and my friend who's crazy good with cameras mentioned that I could buy something that could fit in the back and take the place of film. Any idea what he would be talking about?
My new lens arrived today.

Nice lens, but aren't you going to miss wide angle on the 60D with this lens?

It's wide enough for me and if I need to go wider I've got my 10-22.
