One time my friend dropped my brand new iPhone and it completely broke [editline]13th March 2011[/editline] and by friend I mean myself
Bought a Canon T70 with Tokina 28-70mm f3.5 lens from eBay about a week ago. Was 25+10£ so I guess it's a pretty nice price for "excellent condition" camera from that era. Waiting for it to arrive, gonna take some pics, see how good it works and how the lens are. Picture of it from eBay:
lens will be shit, just an fyi [editline]13th March 2011[/editline] you do know it's manual focus right?
Of course I know it's manual focus - it's an old camera. I really don't care about auto-focus. Also, I plan on getting more lens, just need to get the camera first and test the lens that come with it first. Hopefully I'll get it tomorrow or Tuesday. Also Number 2: Can you recommend me some cheap good (or at least better than the Tokina?) FD lenses? Cheap would be up to 25£ (without shipping) on eBay.
50mm 1.8 or 1.4
Get the 1.4, you get a massive boost in sharpness and contrast, and a stop more light, but still not amazing.
I noticed some immediate gains over the 1.8 when I got my 1.4, but I still didn't see much in terms of sharpness/color/contrast when I used my uncle's 1.2 - aside from the extra light. 1.4 was worth the price difference over the 1.8 hands down, but that doesn't make the 1.8 irrelevant, it's amazing for its price.
Got my monitor sold, £362 extra ducks FOR MEEEEEEEEEE. 35mm AF-S 1.8? YES MAM
Got my monitor sold, £362 extra ducks FOR MEEEEEEEEEE. 35mm AF-S 1.8? YES MAM
Have fun, it's a great lens.
50mm 1.8 or 1.4
Too bad the 1.4 is 3 times over my budget.... The 1.8 is doable, found some for 25£.

Anyone in the UK wanna buy a 500D? I want a 550D, for the 60fps video.
Name your price.
Maybe... say £350? It's like new, no scratches, all works obviously. £350 including postage.
Goddamn, and I just bought a 1000d off Bengley. Wouldn't be that much of an upgrade stills wise though I guess.
Goddamn, and I just bought a 1000d off Bengley. Wouldn't be that much of an upgrade stills wise though I guess.
buuuuy iiiiit. do it. The 1000d doesn't even take video, does it?
Nope, but I would rather spend the money on a lens than a new body, I've only had my 1000d for a month.

Ugh I need this camera. I could afford it right now, but then I'd have a 500D laying around useless so I won't buy it.
Ugh I need this camera. I could afford it right now, but then I'd have a 500D laying around useless so I won't buy it.
Put the 500D on craigslist or ebay or something.
my friend bought a 500D new for £370
Just bought a petal lens hood instead of a round one because it looked cooler... not taking my rotating focus ring into account, so it's really visible at the edges when the focus ring rotates and the hood is vertical. Noob mistake, just wasted £12 :(
Which lens did you get it for?
Canon kit lens, 18-55mm. 58mm thread, I can still work with it... I just cant screw it on tight. I've got it on most of the way but keep it loose, and readjust it after focusing. Dunno if that's normal or not.
The problem is that the front element of that lens rotates during focussing. So yeah, you kind of got the wrong hood
The hood meant for the 18-55 is tiiiiiny. Anything bigger will block out stuff at 18mm.

Just got a free tripod from school. One of these http://www.amazon.com/Manfrotto-190XDB-Section-Aluminum-Tripod/dp/B000N81BXO I got a free $80 tripod :buddy: Though a screw is missing, nothing bad
I received a windfall recently and I've decided to buy some Flash equipment but I've got some questions. I'm considering a 430EX II, a Pocket Wizard Plus II, This Stand and a Hama Studio Umbrella. Is there anything else I need to go out and start snapping some Brian Storey style shots? Will this equipment work together wirelessly? Should I buy a/some less expensive triggers? If so can you link me to them? Should I get the 580ex II instead? Will the 430ex II be too un-powerful?
I recently received my Olympus OM-1N from ebay about a week ago: For 60$ it also came with: Olympus 50mm f1.4 lens Tamron 70-210mm f4-5.6 lens A 2X teleconverter (From JcPenny :v:) Polarizer, Haze, and UV filters A cleaning kit All of the original brochures, instruction manuals, and catalogs The original receipts A flash (Also from JcPenny) And a nifty bag The camera works flawlessly, although there was a bit of dirt on it, but some Q-Tips and rubbing alcohol cleaned it up nicely.
