This is some fucked up shit.
Secondary note: The original short was nominated for an Academy Award for Animation. Tertiary note: Courage the Cowardly Dog was Carton Network's highest rated show up until Adventure Time came out.
When you stop thinking of Freaky Fred as a barber and start thinking of him more like an insane machine shop hacksaw murderer it becomes much more apparent why he was so unsettling.
I honestly don't like watching the Remembrance of Courage Past episode because it still makes me cry to this day.
Fuck yeah, one of my favorite cartoons along side Ed, Edd, n Eddy.
i thought the music was cool

This guy is like a Caddicarus but not with video games. I dont know how to feel about it.
Man I love this show I donno why, but I never found this stuff scary. This scene in particular, I remember freaking people out but when I first saw it I laughed out loud at how ridiculous and how unexpected it was. I must have been a weird kid I guess.

Rammstein also used suchlike vocal sample in "sonne". However Symphony of voices can only be heard in demo songs if not purchased. You won't find it in youtube either..•
Looks like the voices are the same. Nice detective work.
Man that last shot of the video showcasing the ending of "Remembrance of Courage Past." God, that episode killed me as a kid. I sobbed so god damn hard at how utterly destroyed Courage was sitting by the dumpster and then perking up the minute Muriel picks him up and promises to take him home. It's so bad that even seeing it for a second, like at the end of this video, still brings me to tears. I would say that episode is the strongest one out of the series.
I fucking loved the music in Courage. Katz and Dr Zolast's themes are legit as fuck. Also of course, the man in gauze.
Also the episode where you see Courage's parents was pretty fucking sad, especially how they are still alive on another planet
idk why but this episode was the scariest one I ever seen as a kid. also the snowman episodes were my favorite I really really like the ambient sounds used in the arctic (I also find it hilarious that he sounds like bane)
Remember that soylent green episode where the town fought to the death over food....that shit should not have been on TV...
One of my favorite sequences whenever Muriel ended up knocked on the head and losing her memory, the old girl knew how to jam it on the sitar
Perhaps i was too old i guess being 10/11 when it aired because courage didnt scare me at all, and while thats still the case i'm seeing it in a different light now i'm older, i'm amazed it was aired. It's not like ren and stimpy which was just disgusting, courage actually had horror in it. I dunno though, maybe it has a desensitize effect on kids with regards to horror.
There was an episode where a zombie who ate people came to their house to dig up his murder partner that's been buried in their basement the entire time so they can start eating people again, starting with the family. I don't know how that can't scare the fuck out of you when you're 9. I can't think of a single other cartoon on CN that has anywhere close to the tone that Courage had.
The first zombie had a funny nose :^)
Looking back on this show, it touched on so many issues and had such an understanding of the emotions that come with those situations. The allegories to real life and human nature were so relevant and empathetic, and that made it so much more than a goofy surreal show about crazy stuff. Episodes like the Hunchback of Nowhere (prejudice), The Tower of Dr. Zalost (depression, emotional reciprocation), Perfect (self-validation), The Mask (abusive relationships), Queen of the Black Puddle (fidelity, true love), Cabaret Courage (integrity and authenticity), Magic Tree of Nowhere (jealousy, cruelty) and Freaky Fred (...child molestation?) showed my child self all of these different forms of suffering and personal challenges that are present in life and must be dealt with to some degree. Despite its occasional creepiness, the show really had a profound impact on me and I'll love it forever [img]https://facepunch.com/fp/ratings/heart.png[/img]
This guy is like a Caddicarus but not with video games. Caddy seems to go for more of a straight up comedy show with his reviews while Jordan has elements of humor to keep it interesting, but gets to the point of his videos more than Caddy.
One of my favorite episodes was the one with the giant robots.

I love how Courage is popping up more frequently. I want more of it.

This is basicaly emo Caddy, but for some reason, he's way more interesting.

One of my favorite moments was when Eustace looked in the broken mirror without his glasses and saw himself at a young age with no hat. it was courage behind the mirror, but Eustace gave him his hat because the little bald boy didn't have one. it's nice to see someone as cold as Eustace occasionally have warm moments like that.

Any other show would have the curmudgeonly old asshole just be that, but this show wanted to demonstrate that monsters are made, not born. The guy's felt scorned and abandoned his whole life and doesn't even realize how much he's loved by his family :saddowns:
